GENERAL & SPECIFIC
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
ELECTRICAL INFORMATION
WARNING: The warnings, cautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction manual
cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood
by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this
product, but must be supplied by the operator. Performance of this tool may vary
depending on variations in local line voltage. Extension cord usage may also affect tool
performance.
VOLTAGE WARNING
Before connecting the tool to a power source (receptacle, outlet, ect.) be sure the voltage
supplied is the same as that specified on the nameplate of the tool. If one says 120V and
the other says 115V then there will be no complications. Never try to plug a 120V tool into
a 240V outlet, or the other way around. A voltage greater than that specified on the tool
can result in SERIOUSINJURY to the user, as well as damage to the tool. If in doubt, DO
NOTPLUGINTHETOOL.
WARNING: YOUR SHARPENER MUST BE CONNECTED TO A 120V, 15-AMP,
BRANCH CIRCUIT BREAKER. FAILURE TO CONNECT IN THIS WAY CAN RESULT IN
INJURY FROM SHOCK OR FIRE.
DOUBLE INSULATION
Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized
two-prong plug (one blade is wider than the other).
This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If
the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the
plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not alter or
change the plug in any way. Double insulation
eliminates the need for three wire grounded power
supply and grounded power cords.
EXTENSION CORDS
Improper use of extension cords may cause
inefficient operation of your tool which can result
in overheating. Be sure your extension cord is
rated to allow sufficient current flow to the motor.
If you are using the tool outdoors, use an
extension cord rated for outdoor use (signified
by “WA” on the jacket).
The extension cord must have a minimum wire
size depending on the amperage of the tool and the length of the extension cord. This size
is determined by its AWG (American Wire Gauge) rating. The smaller the gauge, the
greater the cable’s capacity. The amount of cords used does not matter: Total length
determines the minimum AWG rating. Every cord must meet the AWG rating. Use the
chart in Fig.1B to determine what AWG rating is required for your situation.

SHARPENING HSS DRILL BITS
WARNING! Before installing the drill bit guide
attachment on the sharpener base, make sure the
sharpener is unplugged and the on/off switch is in
‘’O’’ position.
1) Slide the drill bit guide attachment (A) Fig.3 into
the slots on the side facing the diamond wheel.
Make sure to push it all the way down until it
clamps into place.
2) Remove the drill bit clamp (B) from the clamp
holder and insert the drill bit to be sharpened.
Rotate the clamping ring (C) clockwise to tighten
the clamp lightly to leave the drill bit free to move.
3) Place the clamp containing your drill bit into the
setting slot (D), using the grooves in the side to
lower it in correctly.
4) Move the drill bit forward up so that it lays in the
“V” guide and touches the metal end stop (E).
5) Turn the drill bit until the V guide fully drops over
it. All four drill bit corners should now be touching
the V guide sides.
6) Ensure that the drill and holder are fully down in
the setting slot. With the drill bit in this position,
tighten the clamping ring (B) by turning it clockwise.
7) Lift up the “V” guide and remove the clamp and drill bit.
8) Transfer the clamp and drill bit (A) Fig.4 into the clamp holder (B).
9) Turn the sharpener On (switch in the “I” position).
10) Move the clamp holder from side to side as indicated by the arrow on the sharpener,
using light finger pressure.
11) Remove drill bit and clamp (A) and turn it over and repeat.
12) Check and make sure the leading edge of both flutes are equally sharp, they should
meet exactly in the middle.

SHARPENING CHISELS & PLANE BLADES
WARNING! Before installing the chisel & plane blade guide attachment on the
sharpener base, make sure the sharpener is unplugged and the on/off switch is in ‘’O’’
position.
1) Slide the chisel & plane blade guide attachment
(A) Fig.7 into the slots on the side facing the
diamond wheel. Make sure to push it all the way
down until it clamps into place.
2) Place the blade/chisel against the tool rest (B).
The magnets (C) help to hold it in place.
3) The sharpening angle must match the existing
bevel angle on the blade tip. Therefore the tool
rest angle must be adjusted. Loosen lock knob
(D) and adjust the angle of the tool rest (B). The
adjustable angle is from 15° to 50°. Make sure
the blade or chisel edge touches the diamond
wheel. Tighten lock knob (D).
4) Turn the sharpener On (switch in the “I” position).
5) Slide the blade/chisel and tool rest with light steady pressure back and forth across the
diamond wheel in a continuous motion. Do not hold the blade/chisel stationary. This
causes irregular sharpening.
6) Gradually adjust the blade/chisel down the tool rest while sharpening. Do not press
hard. Grind gradually, repeating the step.
7) Remove the blade and make sure the beveled edge and tip are evenly sharp. If not,
adjust the tool rest angle. It is important that the sharpening angle matches the existing
beveled angle of the blade. This avoids removing too much metal unnecessarily and
keeps plane blades at their optimum shaving angle.
8) When sharpening thin chisel blades, place the small chisel guide (E) onto the tool rest
to act as a spacer and sharpen.
9) Turn the sharpener Off (switch in the “O” position). Before removing the chisel & plane
blade guide attachment, make sure the diamond wheel has completely stopped.
10) It is recommended to hone the blade tip on an oil stone after sharpening.
Maintenance
The tool should be inspected and maintained frequently. Check and make sure the power
cord, plug and switch are in good condition. Check the diamond wheel also.
Do not allow brake fluid, gasoline, petroleum-based products such as penetrating oils to
come in contact with plastic parts. They contain chemicals which can damage, weaken or
destroy the motor housing. Service should be done by a qualified service technician using
identical replacement parts.
