Kit Contents
Before installing this product, check
the contents of the kit listed below. If
anything is missing, please contact your
nearest Öhlins dealer.
During storage and transportation,
especially at high ambient temperature,
the oil and grease used for assembling
may run out inside the packing and
damage the expanded polystyrene
packing material. This is not unusual
and is in no way detrimental to the
product.
NOTE!
When delivered the Öhlins shock absorber
is dialed to recommended settings for the
specifi c brand and make of the vehicle. If you
have changed the setting, reset according to
the Set-up data.
To reset: The adjuster has a right hand thread.
Turn the adjuster clockwise to fully closed
(pos. zero [0]). Turn counter clockwise to open
and count the clicks until you reach the recom-
mended number in the Set-up data.
CAUTION!
Do not use force, delicate sealing surfaces can
be damaged. Handtighten only.
Before installing this product, read the Öhlins Owner’s Manual!

1
Raise the rear end of the snowmobile so that
the track is off the ground.
WARNING!
Make sure the vehicle is securely positioned so
that it will not tip while you are working!
2
To loosen the upper screw of the original
shock absorber you need to release the spring
preload of the rear suspension. Release the
spring preload by removing the screw (2a).
Hold the spring (2b) in a fi rm grip and release
the spring carefully.
NOTE!
We advise you to have an assistant for this
procedure. One person unscrews the nut
from the inside and the other person holds the
spring.
WARNING!
The springs are heavily preloaded! It is very
important to hold the spring in a fi rm grip when
removing the attachment. Use assistance for
this procedure! Use gloves for protection!
3
Remove the original shock absorber.
4
Remove the left inner idler wheel and bracket
to make room for the reservoir.
5
Install the Öhlins shock absorber according to
gure with the reservoir facing left. Begin with
the lower attachment.
6
Reinstall the rear suspension spring. See note
for safe procedure! Do not reinstall the left
inner idler wheel*.
* When removing the inner idle wheel the wear
will increase on the hyfax. That is not an issue
in normal snowriding. But when riding in crust
or very packed snow we recommend that you
install ice scratcher(s).
Make sure that all screws are tightened to
the correct torque and that nothing fouls or
restricts movement of the shock absorber
when the suspension is fully compressed or
extended.
7
Check/ adjust the ride height according to
your vehicles manual.
8
Read more about the shock absorber in your
Öhlins Owner’s Manual.
