Before installing this product,
check the contents of the kit listed
below. If anything is missing, please
contact your nearest Öhlins dealer.
During storage and transportation,
especially at high ambient tempera-
ture, the oil and grease used for assem-
bling may run out inside the packing
and damage the expanded polystyrene
packing material. This is not unusual and
is in no way detrimental to the product.
Compression damping
Adjust by turning the knob on the reser-
voir. Turn clockwise to increase damp-
ing, turn counter clockwise to decrease.
Rebound damping
Turn the screw above the end eye/
bracket. Turn clockwise to increase
damping, turn counter clockwise to
decrease.
NOTE!
When delivered the Öhlins shock absorber
is dialed to recommended settings for the
specifi c brand and make of the vehicle. If you
have changed the setting, reset according to
the Set-up data.
To reset: The adjuster has a right hand thread.
Turn the adjuster clockwise to fully closed
(pos. zero [0]). Turn counter clockwise to open
and count the clicks until you reach the rec-
ommended number in the Set-up data.
CAUTION!
Do not use force, delicate sealing surfaces can
be damaged. Handtighten only.

Raise the rear end of the snowmobile so that
the track is off the ground.
WARNING!
Make sure the vehicle is securely positioned so
that it will not tip while you are working!

Remove the rubber covers from the idler
wheel.

Remove the idler wheel.

To loosen the upper screw of the original
shock absorber you need to release the spring
preload of the rear suspension. Release the
spring preload by removing the screw
(4a). Hold the spring (4b) in a fi rm grip and
release the spring carefully.
We advise you to have an assistant for this
procedure. One person unscrews the nut
from the inside and the other person holds
the spring.
WARNING!
The springs are heavily preloaded! It is very
important to hold the spring in a fi rm grip when
removing the attachment. Use assistance for
this procedure! Use gloves for protection!

Remove the upper attachment of the original
shock absorber.

Remove the lower attachment of the original
shock absorber.

Install the Öhlins shock absorber. Use the up-
per hole for the upper attachment screw!
NOTE!
The Rebound adjuster should be facing up.

Reinstall the rear suspension spring. See
step 4 for safe procedure!
Make sure that all screws are tightened to the
correct torque and that nothing fouls or restricts
movement of the shock absorber when the sus-
pension is fully compressed or extended.
