8DIO FLD IOL-A HUB DC 24V 2.0A
3Overview
The IO-Link Hub is part of the WAGO I/O System Field 765. The IO-Link Hub has a plas-
tic housing that is suitable for screw mounting on a carrier. The product is designed for in-
dustrial use with protection class IP67 or higher.
The IO-Link Hub is intended for use in conjunction with an IO-Link Master (direct 1:1 con-
nection). The IO-Link product interface for connecting the master complies with IO-Link
specification 1.1. It provides digital inputs and outputs as well as the power supply for
connecting sensors or actuators to the IO-Link Master.
The IO-Link Hub can be used to connect up to 8 digital inputs or outputs to a port of the
IO-Link Master and connect to a higher-level network.
The IO-Link Master is used to parameterize the product. Settings can be parameterized
based on the port:
Custom configuration for using each port as a digital input for connecting sensors or
digital outputs for connecting actuators to the IO-Link network
Configuration of the input filters
Configuration of the input signal inversion
Configuration of the substitute value strategy for outputs
The connected IO-Link Master module controls the IO-Link Hub, couples it to the higher-
level network (e.g., real-time ETHERNET) and supplies it with the required operating volt-
age (+24 VDC).
The IO-Link device interface of the IO-Link Hub is designed according to IO-Link Class A.
A 5-pin M12 connector with A coding is used on the IO-Link device interface.
The digital inputs correspond to IEC 61131-2, Type 3. They are p-switching.
The inputs have input filters with a configurable time threshold. The time threshold is con-
figured via the IO-Link Master.
In addition to the adjustable current limitation, the digital outputs have a hardware-sup-
ported device for overcurrent and short circuit protection. The current is measured at
each output, monitored for short circuit, overload and wire break and automatically limited
if the maximum permissible value is exceeded.
The behavior of the digital outputs in case of faults (e.g., loss of communication with the
IO-Link Master) can be configured. This is achieved by defining a substitute value strat-
egy.
3-pin M8 sockets are used to connect the digital inputs and outputs.
The product has various diagnostic options:
Visual diagnostics via LEDs
Diagnostic codes that are forwarded to the IO-Link Master to be evaluated

4.5 Derating
Please note the derating for use of the IO-Link hub. The surrounding air temperature and
current affect the module's heat generation.
The derating curve was created with the conditions of use “without air circulation” and
“mounting on poor heat conductor (wood).”
The following figure shows the maximum permissible current that can flow into the IO-
Link hub depending on the surrounding air temperature.

5.2 Monitoring Functions
The IO-Link hub has extensive internal sensors for measurement of:
Temperatures
Currents
Voltages
The measurements are performed for the device and for pin1, pin2 and pin4 of each
port.
In the IO-Link hub, the measured values are compared to limiting values, and an alarm is
triggered if an event falls above or below a limiting value (e.g., a temperature limit). The
IO-Link hub sends the event to the IO-Link master. Section 8Diagnostics via IO-Link
[}84] lists the events.
5.3 Overload Protection
The product has internal overload protection for the output current. The output currently is
constantly measured and monitored for values exceeding the maximum.
If the measured output current exceeds the maximum value, the product reduces the cur-
rent or switches the corresponding loads off.
The temperature is measured in the IO-Link hub. If the temperature exceeds 105°C, the
hub switches off the affected ports.
5.4 Parameterization Tools
The parameters of the IO-Link hub are set via the connected IO-Link master. When using
IO-Link masters from the WAGO 765 Series, there are several ways to set the parame-
ters. The following table provides an overview of the tools that are available for these
modules.
Table 15: Overview of Parameterization Tools for IO-Link Hubs
Tool Description
WAGO IO-Link Configurator The WAGO IO-Link-Configurator is software for configuring the WAGO IO-Link
master and the IO-Link devices. The Configurator communicates with the IO-Link
master of the 765 Series.
The IODD file of the IO-Link hub can be used by the IO-Link Configurator to pa-
rameterize the IO-Link hub.
