Dual Steering Stabilizer Bracket Kit

Fits: 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL

2018-2007 Jeep Wrangler JK

The installation of this kit requires two Rancho RS5405 or RS7405MT steering stabilizers (not included).

This kit will work only on vehicles with at least a 2” lift and 2" tall front bump stop spacers (not included). This prevents the steering stabilizer bracket

from hitting the track bar at full compression travel.

REMOVE STEERING STABILIZER

1)

 Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking

brake. Place the wheels in a straightforward position.

2)

 Remove any OE or aftermarket steering stabilizers and

mounting brackets.

INSTALL AXLE BRACKET STUDS

1)

 Loosely install mounting studs supplied with steering

stabilizers to axle bracket RS176706. Use lock washer behind

nut. Loosely install name plate bracket on studs. Torque stud

to 40 lb-ft. Remove name plate bracket. See Illustration 1.

2018 – 2007 JK BRACKET INSTALLATION

1)

 Attach tie rod bracket RS176927 to top driver side of

tie rod using U-bolts and hardware supplied in kit RS860745.

Install bracket 1.5” from tie rod adjuster clamp. Snug

hardware and rotate bracket slightly forward to allow

stabilizer stem to rest in opening of tie rod adjuster clamp.

Torque U-bolts to 15 lb-ft. See Illustration 2.

2)

 Attach the other tie rod bracket RS176927 to top

passenger side of tie rod. Install bracket 39” from driver side

bracket. Measure from the furthest outside face of each

bracket. Rotate bracket slightly forward. Torque U-bolts to

15 lb-ft. See Illustration 3

 Install axle bracket RS176706 to bottom of axle tube

using U-bolts and hardware from kit RS860744.

4)

 With steering centered, position bracket with center

of mounting studs 1 ¼” above top of tie rod and half way

between tie rod brackets. Distance from outside surface of

tie rod mount to center of stabilizer mounting stud should

be 18.75”. Torque U-bolts to 30 lb-ft. See Illustration 3,

Illustration 4, and Illustration 5.

Note: Check position of bracket after torqueing U-bolts.

Loosen and repeat step 4 if needed.

2018 JL BRACKET INSTALLATION

1)

 Install axle bracket RS176706 to bottom of axle tube

using U-bolts and hardware from kit RS860744. See

Illustration 4 and Illustration 5.

2)

 Position bracket 5/8” from the edge of the differential

housing, and center of mounting studs 1 ¼” above top of tie

rod. See Illustration 4. Torque U-bolts to 30 lb-ft.

Note: Check position of bracket after torqueing U-bolts.

Loosen and repeat step 2 if needed.

 Using Illustration 6 for Rubicon models, and Illustration

7 for non-Rubicon models, attach tie rod brackets RS17927

to top side of tie rod using U-bolts and hardware supplied in

kit RS860745.

Measure to inside mounting surface of tie rod brackets. Align

brackets level on top of bar. Torque U-bolts to 15 lb-ft.

Note different orientation of driver side brackets.

ALL MODELS — STEERING STABILIZERS INSTALLATION

1)

 Loosely install stem end of steering stabilizer to tie rod

bracket using hardware supplied with steering stabilizers. Do

not use dust boot. See Illustration 6 and Illustration 7.

2)

 Slide large washer supplied with steering stabilizers

and loop end bushing of steering stabilizer onto axle bracket

mounting stud. See Illustration 5.

3)

 Install name plate bracket RS176707 using supplied

nuts and lock washers. Torque hardware to 25 lb-ft. Torque

stabilizer stem nut to 25 lb-ft.

4)

 Turn wheels completely in both directions. Verify that

the steering stops on the knuckle make contact and the

stabilizer shock does not bottom out or over extend. Verify

that the brackets and stabilizer shocks do not bind or

interfere with other components.
