SPECIAL OPTIONS STRIP
1. Dual zone option
The Oval cook zone consists of two cooking zones,
and can be used as a large oval zone, or a smaller
circular zone.
2. Warming option
Keeps a steady low temperature on the zones. In
the right kind of containers, this option is suitable
for: leavening dough, melting butter, heating a
baby’s bottle, preparing baby food, yoghurt and
melting chocolate.
3. Heat maintenance option
Sets a low temperature to keep food hot.
4. 30 Seconds Max Option
The option sets one of the zones at maximum
power for a limited time of 30, 60, 90 seconds
during normal cooking.
5. Fast boil option
Sets a higher level of power in order to boil water
quickly.
6. Timer switch option
The timer switch option can be set both as a timer
and to turn a zone on and off.

To turn on the hob, press down the button for at
least 2 seconds. A light will come on above the
button.
An audible signal can be heard when you turn the hob
on. The display for each zone shows a 0. If the hob was
used recently and has not yet cooled down sufficiently,
the displays on the zones that are still hot will show an
H.
Select the zone you wish to use within 25 seconds by
pressing the + or – buttons to turn it on. The display
on the zone selected lights up and the LED indicators
on the special options available for that zone, will start
flashing.
A zone will stay selected for 6 seconds during which
time the 'special options' LED indicators that refer to
that zone will keep flashing. After 6 seconds, if not
selected, the zone must be reselected by pressing the
+ or - buttons any any special options required. If no
zone is selected within 25 seconds of the hob being
switched on the hob turns off automatically for safety
reasons.
IMPORTANT: the hob safety system includes an
automatic turn off function after 1 hour of running at
maximum power, after 6 hours of running at minimum
power or when the warming option is on.
For normal use of the hob, after selecting the zone,
you can regulate the power level by pressing the + or
– buttons, selecting a level from 1 to 9. If you select
the zone using the – button the zone will
automaticallly switch on at the highest power level (9).
Pressing simultaneously on both + and -, will turn the
zone off.
After turning off a zone, the display for the zone will
indicates that the zone is hot and is a significant burn
risk.
This symbol stays on until the temperature of the
zone falls to an acceptably safe level.
If you turn off the hob whilst a cook zone is still hot,

the symbol H will be displayed until the cook zone is
sufficiently cool.
If you wish to use the special options, shown by the
LED indicators on a working zone, press the
corresponding button on the special options strip. If
you try to activate a special option that is not available
on that zone, a low buzzer will sound, either select
another zone with the special option required, or
select another special option. The fast boil, warming,
heat maintenance, 30 second max and maintaining
boiling point options (where included) can be turned
on individually on each zone. The special warming,
heat maintenance and maintaining boiling point
options (where included), are shown on the cooktop
displays where they are active, with a clockwise
movement.
The fast boil option is indicated on the display by
three horizontal segments that progressively light up
vertically.
If you want to change a special option, just select the
zone you want and press the button for the desired
special function.
General use
1. Pause option
The pause option lets you momentarily turn off the
cooking session underway, preventing food from
burning or liquids spilling out of pots as a result of
prolonged, undesired boiling. When you activate
the pause option, all the zones that are operating
are reduced to a maintenance temperature that
corresponds with the heat maintenance special
option.
Turning the pause option on and off
The pause option, can be turned on by pressing
. The option is active when the LED on the
button is illuminated. The displays on all the zones
show two vertical flashing strips. If the warming
option is set on one of the zones, as this option
offers a more gentle cooking temperature than the
heat maintenance, the maintenance temperature of
the zone will be that of the warming option.
Press the pause button again to remove the pause
option. The situation prior to activating the pause
button is once again put in place when you turn off
the pause option. Any cooking times set prior to
activating the pause option will continue counting
the time including all the time the pause option was
on. The pause option turns off automatically after
2 hours. NEVER LEAVE THE HOB, WHILST
COOKING UNATTENDED FOR WHATEVER
REASON, EVEN IF THE PAUSE OPTION IS ON.
2. 30 Seconds max option
The 30 second max. option allows you to cook at a
higher temperature for a limited period of time.
You cannot activate the 30 second max. option
when a zone is turned off, only after having
selected one of the levels from 1 to 9.
Turning the 30 second max. option on and off
Press the button on the special options strip
to turn the 30 second max. option on after turning
on the cook zone by pressing + or - button. If you
press the 30 second max button once, you will set
the option to 30 seconds. An illuminated horizontal
segment appears on the zone display selected. By
pressing the button again, you will set the time to
60 and then 90 seconds and 2 and 3 horizontal
segments will appear respectively on the display.
Once you have activated this option and set the
time, the display will show how much time is left
by turning off a segment every 30 seconds. Press
the + and – buttons simultaneously to turn the 30
second max. option off. If you do not turn the
option off before the allotted time is up, after 30 –
60 – 90 seconds, the cooking temperature will
automatically return to the previous level.
3. Child safety option
The child safety option completely deactivates the
cooktop to prevent children from using it.
Turning the child safety option on and off
The child safety option can be turned on by
pressing . The control is turned off except for
the child safety buttons and the on/off button.
The control is blocked at the point it was at before
the child safety option was turned on. Prior to the
child safety option being turned on, the levels or
special options set on the zones are frozen and
they cannot be changed.
If none of the zones are on,when the child safety
option is selected the appliance will be switched
off. When the hob is switched on the child safety
option is still activated. Hold down the button
for 3 seconds to deactivate it. If there was is a
power cut and the hob loses power, if the child
safety lock was deactivated before the powercut, it
will remain deactivated when power is restored.

4. Dual cook zone option
Where the dual cook zone option is included, both
cook zones are activated allowing you to cook with
larger pans or fish kettles.
Turning the dual cook zone option on and off
The dual cook zone option can be turned on by
pressing . It only refers to specific zones. The
dual cook zone option can be selected with any
level setting and with any of the special options
running. The dual cook zone option can be turned
off by pressing the + and – buttons simultaneously.
5. Fast boil option
The fast boil option is set for a limited time period,
at a temperature greater than level 9. The option
allows you to reduce the boiling time of water.
Turning the fast boil option on and off
The option can be set on any of the zones in use
by pressing the button.
Press the – button on the selected zone to turn the
option off, reducing the level of power, or by
pressing + and – simultaneously.
6. Timer switch option
The timer switch option can either be used as a
timer, without specific reference to any one zone,
or it can be used on a selected cook zone to
programme.
Turning the timer switch option on and off
When you use the timer switch option as a timer,
press on the special options strip to turn it on.
You can select the time required by pressing the +
and – buttons on the timer strip. You can select up
to 99 minutes. A long audible signal is given off
when the time expires. Press to turn the
signal off.
If you wish to use the timer to turn a cook zone on
and off, the ring must be set at a level of power or
on one of the following special options: fast boil,
warming or heat maintenance.
The display on the timer strip will start flashing
when you press the timer switch. When you select
a cook zone by pressing + or -, one of the LED
indicators, located on the four extremes of the
timer display, will come on to indicate the cook
zone selected. Select the time required by pressing
the + and – buttons on the timer strip. The display
stops flashing after a few seconds and the cook
zone programming is complete.
At this point you can programme another cook
zone. All cook zones can be programmed
seperately using the timer.
The cook zones set on the timer are identified by
the LED indicators above the timer symbol. The
LED indicators at the top of the display on the
timer strip show which cook zone the time shown
on the display refers to.
Normally it shows the time relating to the shortest
set time. By selecting a ring, the display on the
timer strip shows the time relating to that specific
cook zone.
Press the + and – buttons simultaneously to
interrupt the timing on a cook zone.
