material before discarding carton. Remove any remaining staples from the carton before

discarding. Remove all parts from carton and separate into groups as indicated on part

list. Please ensure all parts are included prior to assembly. Use of power tools to

complete assembly is not recommended.

Important

Before you begin: Open, identify and count all parts prior to assembly. Lay out parts on a flat and non-

abrasive surface. You will need the parts identified on page 4 and 5 of this instruction manual.

NOTE: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO USE GLUE WITH DOWELS. EXCESS GLUE CAN BE WIPED OFF

WITH DAMP CLOTH.

Insert Dowel at least half way by tapping lightly with a rubber mallet, IF NECESSARY.

CAM LOCK SYSTEM OPERATION

HOW THE KNOCK DOWN (KD) ASSEMBLY SYSTEM WORKS

1. Screw the Cam Bolt into the threaded inserts on the panel. Connect both panels together; making sure Cam

Bolt goes into the pre-drilled hole on the end of panel for Cam Lock.

2. Insert the Cam Lock into the pre-drilled large hole on the panel. Make sure the arrow on the face of Cam

Lock faces out and points towards Cam Bolt.

3. Take a Phillips screwdriver and rotate the Cam Lock clockwise to lock the Cam Bolt in place.

4. Plug the Cam Lock Cover into the cross slot of the Cam Lock to conceal the Cam.

You are now ready to assemble the KD unit.

Drawer Assembling

1. Unpack the unit and confirm that you have all the hardware and required parts. Assembly the unit on a

carpeted floor or the empty carton to avoid any scratch.

2. Pick up the Ball Bearing Slides (S) and separate the Slide Runners for the following steps. Extend the

Slide Runner all the way forward. Press the plastic release lever of the ball bearing slides up and pull

the Slide Runner complete out.

3. Attach the separated Slide Runners (S) to the Drawer Side Panels (K and L) respectively with three 1/2”

Screws (6) per slide runner. Make sure that the slide opening points towards the back edge with two

through holes running against. As shown.

4. Position one Drawer Front (I) on a level and protective surface with the small holes facing up. Securely

screw six Small Cam Bolts (3) into the designated small holes with a Phillips screwdriver. As shown.

5. Using the pilot holes as a guide, fasten one Front Guide Rail (O) to the Drawer Front Panel (I) with five

1/2” Screws (6) making sure the slot of Guide Rail (O) will face up. As shown.

Drawer Assembling

6. Connect Drawer Left and Right Side Panels (K and L) to the Drawer Front (I) by engaging four Small

Cam Locks (1) (Refer to page 3 on Cam Lock system operation supplement). As shown. Make sure that

the grooves line up with each other.

7. Fasten the Drawer Bottom Support (M) to the Drawer Front (I) by engaging two Small Cam Locks (1).

Make sure that the Cam Locks point towards the bottom of unit.

Drawer Assembling

8. Slide one Drawer Bottom Panel (N) into the grooves between the Drawer Side Panels (K and L) until

fully inserted into the Drawer Front (I). Make sure the finished surface will face up. As shown.

9. Fasten one Drawer Back Panel (J) to the Drawer Side Panels (K and L) and Drawer Bottom Support (M)

using six 1-1/4” Wood Screws (8). Make sure that Drawer Bottom Panel (N) fits securely into the

groove of the Drawer Back Panel (J). Tighten all the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

Drawer Assembling

10. Turn the assembled drawer upright.

11. Attach two Handles (11) to the outside of the Drawer Front (I) using four provided Handle Bolts (12).

12. Repeat the same procedure to assemble the other drawer.

13. Using the pilot holes as a guide, attach one Lock Holder (14) to one Drawer Left Side Panel (K) with

two 1/2” Screws (6). Make sure that the triangle of Lock Holder (14) points towards the back of unit.

14. Repeat last step to attach the other Lock Holder (14) to the other Drawer Left Side (K). Be sure the

location of Lock Holders on two drawer kits are different. As shown.

Assembly Instructions

15. Fit Guide Rails (P and Q) onto the Drawer Back Panels (J) and the Side Panels (K and L) respectively

with the high side facing inward. As shown.

16. Hook two File Hangers (R) onto the high edge of Guide Rails (O and P). Slide the File Hangers left and

right to keep hanging files organized.

17. Locate Top Panel (A), Side Panels (B and C) and Bottom Molding (F) and securely screw the Large

Cam Bolts (4) into the designated holes with a Phillips screwdriver. As shown in the illustration.

18. Using the pilot holes as a guide, attach the separated Slide Tracks (S) to the Left and Right Side Panels

(B and C) respectively, using three 1/2” Screws (6) per slide track. As shown. Make sure the slide

opening is against the closest edge of the Side Panels (B and C).

19. Using the pilot holes as a guide, fasten the Butterfly Locking Kit (13) to the Left Side Panel (B) with

the 5/8” Screws (7). As shown. Make sure that the wings of Butterfly Locking Kit (13) can rotate

towards the slide opening.

Assembly Instructions

20. Combine Upper Back Panel (D) and Lower Back Panel (E) together with three Wood Dowels (5). As

shown.

21. Attach the Left Side Panel (B) to the assembled Back Panels (D and E) using four Large Cam Locks (2)

and two Wood Dowels (5). As shown. Make sure that the Cam Locks point towards the front of the unit.

22. Fasten Bottom Stretcher (G) and Middle Crossbar (H) to the Left Side Panel (B) using two Large Cam

Locks (2) and two Wood Dowels (5). As shown. Make sure that the Cam Locks will face the floor.

23. Repeat the same procedure to attach the Right Side Panel (C) at the opposite end.

Assembly Instructions

24. Insert six Wood Dowels (5) into the top inner holes of the Side Panels (B and C) and the Upper Back

Panel (D). Position the Top Panel (A) onto the inserted Wood Dowels (5) and lock with seven Cam

Locks (2). As shown.

25. Fasten the Bottom Molding (F) to the Bottom Stretcher (G) by using two Wood Dowels (5) and three

Large Cam Locks (2). As shown. Make sure that the bottom edges are even with each other.

Assembly Instructions

26. Secure the Bottom Molding (F) to both Side Panels (B and C) by attaching two Corner Connectors (9)

at the joints, using two 1/2” Screws (6) per connector. As shown.

27. Gently tap two Floor Protectors (10) to the bottom of each Side Panel (B and C). As shown. Make sure

that the Floor Protectors rest on the proper location for avoiding any damage or crack.

Assembly Instructions

28. Ask for assistance to stand the unit upright.

29. Put the bottom wing of the Butterfly Locking Kit (13) forward, then fully slide the assembled bottom

drawer into the frame. As shown. NOTE: The bottom drawer has a Lock Holder installed on the upper

portion of the Left Side Panel (K). To insert the drawer into place, extend the Ball Bearing Slide Tracks

on the Side Panels (B and C) all the way forward (including ball bearing cart). Then, align the Slide

Runners on the drawer with the Slide Tracks and push the drawer carefully inside until it stops.

NOTE: If the drawer does not go in smoothly, please take it out and repeat the step. If you need to

remove the drawer, please pull the drawer all the way out, then simultaneously push the plastic release

lever of the ball bearing slides up on one side and down on the other side, and then pull it completely out.

Assembly Instructions

30. Put the top wing of the Butterfly Locking Kit (13) forward, then fully slide the assembled Top Drawer

into the frame. As shown.

31. Position the assembled unit at the desired location against a wall. Now, follow the instructions printed on the

plastic bag containing the Tipping Restraint Hardware to attach the tip-over restraint to the unit and the wall.

NOTE: Young children can be seriously injured by tipping furniture. You must install the Tipping

Restraint Hardware with the unit to prevent any accidents or damage to the unit. The tipping restraint is

intended only as a deterrent, they are not a substitute for proper adult supervision. The tipping restraint

is not an earthquake restraint. If you wish to add the extra security of earthquake restraints, they must be

purchased and installed separately.

Tools required: Phillips screwdriver, Power Drill, 3/8” Drill Bit and Rubber Mallet.

Care and Maintenance

 Use a soft, clean cloth that will not scratch the surface when dusting.

 Use of furniture polish is not necessary. Should you choose to use polish, test first in an inconspicuous area.

 Using solvents of any kind on your furniture may damage your furniture’s finish.

 Never use water to clean your furniture as it may cause damage to the finish.

 Always use coasters under beverage glasses and flowerpots.

 Liquid spills should be removed immediately. Using a soft clean cloth, blot the spill gently. Avoid rubbing.

 Always use protective pads under hot dishes and plates. Heat can cause chemical changes that may create

spotting within the furniture finish.

 Stains or marks from crayons or ink markers will be difficult to remove.

 In the event that your furniture is stained or otherwise damaged during use, we recommend that you call a

professional to repair your furniture.

 Check bolts/screws periodically and tighten them if necessary.

Further advice about wood furniture care

It is best to keep your furniture in a climate-controlled environment. Extreme temperature and humidity

changes can cause fading, warping, shrinking and splitting of wood. It is advised to keep furniture away from

direct sunlight as sun may damage the finish.

Proper care and cleaning at home will extend the life of your purchase. Following these important and helpful

tips will enhance your furniture as it ages.

A Touch-up Pen has been provided to repair any small nicks or scratches that may occur during assembly or

shipping.
