2.6 GREENSENTRY™ OIL MONITOR SYSTEM _____________________________________
Note:
The GreenSentry Oil Monitor System is a tool to
assist in hydraulic oil leak detection. It will not prevent
oil leaks, nor is it intended to replace periodic
inspections and regular maintenance.
1. The GreenSentry light (G) gives an early warning
that there may be an oil leak. However, the light may
illuminate during the lift / lower cycle, but will not
sound the horn.
2. The moment an oil leak is confirmed by the
GreenSentry, the horn will sound. Move the tractor
out of the area of operation, stop the engine and
have the system inspected and repaired before
resuming operation.
3. Once a leak has been detected and the horn
sounds, the horn can be turned off with the
GreenSentry switch (V).before the engine is
stopped. Once the engine has been turned off, the

4.6 PARKING BRAKE _________________________________________________________
1. To set brake force: Place brake lever in the
disengaged position. sit in the operator’s seat and
turn knob (G) clockwise to increase force. Apply and
release brake lever every quarter turn until a force of
36-42 lb (16 - 19 kg), at the base of the adjustment
knob is required to set the parking brake.
If a scale is not available for measuring, place tractor in
2WD mode and adjust brake until motor cannot
overcome the parking brake.
2. If the knob on the parking brake has been turned to
it’s maximum extent, new brake pads are required.
3. Brake pads must be replaced when worn to the
point that they touch each other above the brake
disk.

4.12 MOW SPEED _____________________________________________________________
Cutting quality is better at speeds well below the transport
speed of the tractor. An initial mow speed of 7.5 mph (13.7
kph) is set at the factory and should be satisfactory for most
cutting conditions. Local turf conditions however may
respond better to a slower speed.
To set mow speed, loosen jam nut (S) and adjust stop screw
up to reduce speed, down to increase speed. Tighten nut to
hold adjustment in place.
Figure 4K
4.13 LIFT SPRINGS ____________________________________________________________
The lift springs can be adjusted so the exposed bolt thread
(T) is zero for maximum traction or turned out to it’s
maximum limits to help the reels follow uneven turf. Do not
exceed these values or tractor damage may result
The initial weight setting should be made with the front reels
weighing 10 lb (4.5 kg) more than the center and wing reels.
Individual adjustment can then be made from this point to fit
specific turf conditions.
To disconnect springs for reel removal, fully raise all mowers
to transport position and install transport locks. Remove bolt
(T) from each mower. Remove transport locks and lower the
reels to the ground.
Figure 4L
4.14 LIFT SWITCH _____________________________________________________________
Position Magnets (V) so that a gap of 0.010 - 0.050 in.
(0.254 - 1.25 mm) is maintained between the switch and
magnet for each position.
Use a Volt/Ohm meter to check if lift (U) or lower (W) switch
closes when center handle is moved to corresponding
position. Adjust magnets (V) as necessary.

4.15 REEL TO BEDKNIFE _______________________________________________________
(Pre-adjustment Check)
1. Check the reel bearings for end play or radial play. If
there is any abnormal movement of the reel, up and
down or side to side, adjust or replace components
as needed.
2. Inspect the reel blades and bedknife to insure good
sharp edges without bends or nicks.
a. The cutting edges of the reel blades and bedknife
must be sharp, free of burrs and show no signs of
rounding off.
b. The bedknife and bedknife backing must be
securely tightened. The bedknife must be straight
and sharp.
c. A flat surface of 1/16 in. (2 mm) minimum must be
maintained on the front face of the bedknife. Use a
standard flat file to dress the bedknife.
3. If wear or damage is beyond the point where the
reel or bedknife can be corrected by the lapping
process, they must be reground.
4. Proper reel-to-bedknife adjustment is critical. A gap
of 0.001 to 0.003” (0.025 to 0.076 mm) must be
maintained across the entire length of the reel and
bedknife.
5. The reel must be parallel to the bedknife. An
improperly adjusted reel will lose its sharp edges
prematurely and may result in serious damage to
the reel and bedknife.
6. Grass conditions will also affect the adjustment.
a. Dry, sparse conditions will require a wider gap to
prevent heat buildup and damage to the reel and
bedknife.
b. High quality grass with a good moisture content
requires a closer gap (near zero).
Figure 4N
Figure 4O
4.16 REEL TO BEDKNIFE ADJUSTMENT __________________________________________
Read Section 4.15 before making the adjustment.
Start adjustment at the leading edge of the reel, followed by
the trailing end.
The leading end of the blade is the end that
passes over the bedknife first during normal rotation.
1. Loosen nut (C) 1/4 turn on both ends of the cutting
unit.
a. Turn adjuster (A) in 1/16 to 1/8 turn increments.
b. Slide a feeler gauge or shim stock.001 in. (.025
mm) between the reel blade and the bedknife.
Do not turn reel.
c. Adjust the trailing end of the reel in the same
manner then recheck the adjustment at the
leading end.
d. Securely tighten all hardware and recheck the
adjustment.
e. When properly adjusted, the reel will spin freely
and you should be able to cut a piece of
newspaper, along the full length of the reel, when
the paper is held at 90°.
Note:
Avoid Excessive tightening or damage may occur to
bedknife and reel blades. Reel must turn freely.

4.17 CUTTING MODES _________________________________________________________
1. The mower may be operated in the
fixed
mode or
the
floating
mode.
2.
Fixed
mode height of cut ranges from 3/8 - 2-15/16
in. (9.5 - 75 mm) and the mower does not require a
front roller unless the terrain is rough and uneven.
If a front roller is required, the roller should be raised
1/4 in. (6 mm) higher than the rear roller and used for
anti-scalp purposes only.
3.
Floating
mode requires a front roller.
If a 2-1/2 in. (63 mm) solid front roller is used, the
cutting height will range from 3/8 to 2-1/8 in. (9 to
54 mm).
If a 3 in. (76 mm) grooved front roller
(Recommended) is used, the cutting height will range
from 3/8 to 2-1/2 in. (9 to 63 mm).
4. To convert the mower from
fixed
to
floating
mode,
remove hardware (H) from each side of the five
mower frames.
Install a front roller and store hardware (H) for future
conversion to fixed mode.
5. To convert the mower from
floating
to
fixed
mode,
assemble hardware (H) as shown and remove or
raise the front roller.

4.18 CUTTING HEIGHT - FIXED MODE ____________________________________________
1. Reposition the rear roller adjuster.
a. For cutting heights from 3/8 to 1-3/4 in. (9 to
44 mm) use holes (M) on the mower frame and
two holes (shown in black) of the height adjuster
(F) as shown.
b. For cutting heights greater than 1-3/4 inches
(44 mm) disassemble adjuster (F) and turn the
mounting bracket upside down; then use holes
(N) of the frame and the two holes (shown in
black) of the adjuster (F).
2. Place spacers of the desired height (J) under each
end of the reel, adjacent to the front edge of the
bedknife.
3. Loosen nut (G) and lower rear roller to the ground.
Tighten nut (E) against the adjuster then recheck
the setting on both side of the reel. Readjust if
necessary.
4. Assemble the front roller adjuster (B) (If a roller is
