Introduction
Thank you for contacting a technical support representative to obtain
information about returning your magicolor 2430 DL/magicolor 2450 for
warranty exchange. Follow these instructions very carefully.
If you need additional assistance, refer to the General Information Guide
(included with the original printer) or printer.konicaminolta.com
for worldwide
sources of service and support.
Attention
Failure to follow these instructions could result in voiding your
warranty.
Exchange Procedure
Each of these steps is explained in detail in this guide.
1 Unpack the exchange printer. See page 2.
2 Prepare the original printer—turn it off, unplug the
power cord, and remove the interface cables and dust
cover.
See page 4.
3 Move the consumables (the four toner cartridges, the
drum cartridge, and the transfer belt unit) from the origi-
nal printer to the exchange printer.
See page 6.
4 Finish setting up the exchange printer—plug it in, attach
the interface cables, turn it on, install the dust cover, and
fill the tray with media.
See page 12.
5 Repack the original printer, and call the shipper for
pickup.
See page 14.

Attention
Use caution when unpacking the exchange printer, so the packaging
(including the tape) can be used to repack the printer to be returned.

1 Unpack the exchange printer.
WARNING!
The printer weighs approxi-
mately 40 lbs/18 kg without
consumables. Be sure to have
help when lifting and moving it.

outside of the exchange

on the exchange printer.

1 magicolor 2430 DL: At the control panel of the original printer,
access the ENGINE/SERVICE/REMOVE ALL TONER menu and
choose YES. The toner cartridge carousel moves into removal
position, and OPEN DOOR/REMOVE TONER C displays in the
message window.

: At the control panel of the original printer, access
the QUALITY MENU/REPLACE TONER/CYAN and choose YES.
The toner cartridge carousel moves into removal position, and
OPEN DOOR AND/REPLACE C TONER displays in the
message window.

2 Remove the cyan toner cartridge.

3 Repeat steps 1 and 2 three more times to move the original
printer’s remaining toner cartridges into removal position and
then remove them: black (K), yellow (Y), and then magenta (M).
Exchange
4 magicolor 2430 DL: At the control panel of the exchange printer,
access the ENGINE/SERVICE/REPLACE TONER menu and
choose CYAN. The toner cartridge carousel moves into position,
and OPEN DOOR/REPLACE TONER C displays in the message
window.

5 Insert the cyan toner cartridge into the exchange printer.

6 Repeat steps 4 and 5 three more times to move the toner cartridge
carousel into position on the exchange printer, and insert the
remaining toner cartridges: black (K), yellow (Y), and magenta (M).

1 Open the top cover of the original printer, and then carefully pull
out the drum cartridge.

2 Open the top cover of the exchange printer, and then carefully
insert the drum cartridge.

1 With the top cover of the
original printer still open,
disconnect the transfer belt
unit connector.

2 Remove two screws—
one on each side of
the transfer belt unit.

3 Slide out the transfer belt
unit out of the original
printer, and then close the
top cover.
" Be careful not to
scratch the transfer
belt.

slide the transfer belt unit
into place.

5 Install two screws—
one on each side of
the transfer belt unit.

1 Replace the packing tape
on the outside of the original

was shipped.

3 Securely tape the top flaps of the shipping carton closed.

4 In the Americas, clearly write the RMA (Return Merchandise
Authorization) number you received from your customer support
representative on the outside of the carton before calling the
shipper for pickup.
" If the RMA number is not prominently visible on the outside
of the return carton, we will not accept receipt.

5 Ship the printer, using the shipper and shipping label provided
with the exchange printer.
