TheEvolve300CXRFR(ReadyForReceiver)versionisfullyassembledandtestflownatthe
factory(likeallRTFversionmodels).Aftertestflyingiscompletethereceiverisremovedand
thewireleadsthatwillconnecttoyourchosenreceiverareleftlocatedinsidethenoseofthe
body.
Selectasuitable5+channelreceivercompatiblewiththetransmitteryou’vechosentouse
thenlocatethewireleadsandconnectors(5total)thatmustbeconnectedtothereceiver.
Dependingontheavailablelengthofthewireleads,aswellasthesizeandshapeofyour
receiver,determineifthereceivercanbemountedonthetoporbottomoftheplastic
mountingtrayattachedtothemainframe(locatedinsidethebodynearthenoseofthe
helicopter).Whenpossiblewerecommendinstallingthereceiverontopofthetrayandin
frontofthefactoryinstalled3in1controlunit.
Checkthefitofyourreceiverinthechosenmountingpositionwhileensuringthebest
possibleorientationfortheantenna(s)andthewireleads/connections.Afterdeterminingthe
bestmountingpositionremovethereceiverandapplyoneortwosectionsoftheincluded
twosidedfoamtapeonthesidethatwillbemountedtothetray.Next,locateallfive(5)of
thewireleadsandconnectorsthatmustbeconnectedtothereceiver.Eachwireleadis
labeledaccordingtothechannelofthereceiveritmustbeconnectedto.Refertothe
markingsonthereceiver,themarkingsonthelabelsandthelistbelowtomaketheproper
connections(youmayalsoneedtorefertotheinstructionmanualforthereceiverand/or
transmitteryou’vechosentouse).
NOTE:It’simportanttoensurecorrectpolaritywhenpluggingthewireleads/connectors

Afterconfirmingthecontrolsarerespondingproperly,carefullyroutethereceiverandwire
leadsintothenoseofthehelicopterandmountthereceivertothetrayusingthetwosided
foamtape.Inmostcasesitwilltypicallybebesttoroutethereceiverandwireleadsthrough
theopeninginthebottomofthebody,butinsomecases(dependingonthesize/shapeof
thereceiverandtheavailablelengthofthewireleads)itmaybepossibletoroutethem
throughoneofthe‘window’openingsonthesidesofthebody.
Withthereceivermountedonthetrayensurethatallconnectionsaresecureandthatthe
antenna(s)andwireleadsareclearofanymovingparts,electronicsorother
components/partsthatcoulddamagethemand/orhaveanegativeeffectontheradio
systemperformance,range,etc.Werecommendreferringtotheinstructionmanualforthe
receiverand/ortransmitterformoreinformation.

Whentransportingortemporarilystoringthebattery,thetemperaturerangeshould
befromapproximately40–100°F.Donotstorethebatteryormodelinahotgarage,
carordirectsunlightwheneverpossible.Ifstoredinahotgarageorcarthebattery
canbedamagedorevencatchfire.
DonotoverdischargetheLiPobattery.DischargingtheLiPobatterytoolowcan
causedamagetothebatteryresultinginreducedpower,flightdurationorfailureof
thebatteryentirely.
LiPocellsshouldnotbedischargedtobelow3.0Veachunderload.Inthecaseofthe
3Cell/3S11.1VLiPobatteryusedtopowertheEvolve300CXyouwillnotwantto
allowthebatterytofallbelow9.0Vduringflight.
The3in1controlunitdoesnotfeaturealowvoltagecutoff(LVC)ofanytypesoit’s
importantforyoutobeawareofthepowerleveloftheLiPobatteryduringflight.If
youeverfindthatmorethanthetypicalamountofthrottle/powerisrequiredto
hoverand/orthehelicopterwillnotascend/climbevenatfullpoweryoushouldland
themodelanddisconnectthebatteryimmediatelytopreventoverdischarge.
ContinueddischargingcancausepermanentdamagetotheLiPobatteryresultingin
reducedpoweroutputand/orshortenedflightdurationsduringsubsequentflights
(orfailureofthebatteryentirely).
Youmustchargetheincluded800mAh3Cell/3S11.1V20CLiPoBattery(IFLB8003S20J)
usingonlytheincluded3Cell/3S11.1VLiPo,0.8AmpDCBalancingCharger(IFLC308C)ora
suitablycompatibleLiPobatterycharger.ChargingtheLiPobatteryusinganonLiPobattery
compatiblecharger(suchasaNiCdorNiMHbatterycharger),orevenadifferentLiPo
batterychargerwiththeincorrectsettings,mayresultindamagetothebatteryorfire
resultinginpropertydamageand/orpersonalinjury.

It’simportantthatairisabletocirculatearoundthecaseofthechargerduringthe
chargingprocessinordertokeepitfromoverheating.DONOTplacethechargeron
carpetedorothersimilarsurfacesthatmaypreventairfromcirculatingaroundall
sidesofthecharger.Also,DONOTplacethechargerindirectsunlightbefore,during
orafteruse.
Connectthewhite4pinconnectorfrombattery(alsotypicallyreferredtoasthe
‘balanceconnector’)tothematingconnectoronthecharger.YOUMUSTBECAREFUL
TOENSUREPROPERPOLARITYBEFOREMAKINGTHECONNECTION.Referencethe
markingsonthechargerandensurethattheblackcolornegative/groundwirelead
isorientedsoit’stowardtherighthandsideoftheconnectoronthecharger.And
althoughtheconnectorsare‘keyed’tominimizetheriskofareversepolarity
connection,ifyouforcethemitispossibletomakeconnectionwithincorrectpolarity
potentiallycausingdamagetothebatteryand/orcharger.Whentheconnectorsare
properlyalignedforcorrectpolarity,connectingthemshouldrequireonlyamoderate
amountofpressuretoachievethe‘click’thatindicatesasecureconnection.

Whenthebatteryisconnectedtothechargersecurelyandwiththeproperpolarity
boththeredcolorandgreencolorLEDindicatorswillglowsolid.Thebatterywillbe
charginganytimethegreenLEDindicatorisglowingsolid.
TheredandgreenstatusLEDsalsoindicatethefollowing(thisinformationisalso
listedonthelabelofthecharger):

Itwilltakeapproximately1.0–1.5hourstofullychargeamostlyorfullydischarged
battery(NOTE:Seethefollowinginformationinthissectionformoredetailsregarding
optional‘fast’chargingthatcanreducechargetimestoaslittleas3045minutes).And
whenthebatteryisfullychargedthegreenLEDindicatorwillstopglowingentirely.
WhenthegreenLEDindicatorisnolongerglowingyoucandisconnectthebattery
fromthechargerasitisnowfullychargedandreadyforuse.
NOTE:TheLiPobatteryincludedwithyourmodelwillarrivepartiallycharged.Forthis
reasontheinitialchargemayonlytakeapproximately30–45minutes.

NOTE:It’ssaferandbetterforthelongevityofthebatterytostoreitonlypartially
chargedforanylengthoftime.Storingthebatteryatapproximately50%charge(whichis
approximately3.85Vpercell)istypicallybest;however,itwilltakesomecareful
managementofthechargetimeandtheuseofavoltmetertoachievethisvoltage.
Ifyouhavetheequipmentandskillstoachievethe50%chargelevelforstorageitis
recommended.Ifnot,simplybesuretonotstorethebatteryfullychargedwhenever
possible.Infact,aslongasthebatterywillbestoredatapproximatelyroomtemperature
andfornomorethanafewweeksbeforethenextuse,itmaybebesttostorethebattery
inthedischargedstateafterthelastflight(aslongasthebatterywasnotoverdischarged
onthelastflight).
ChargeErrorsandIndications
IntheeventthatboththeredandgreenLEDsflashanerrorhasoccurredduringthe
chargeprocess.Someexamplesofchargeerrorsandtheirindicationsinclude:
AlternatingflashingoftheredandgreenLEDsindicatesthatthechargeprocess
hasbeeninterrupted.Ifinputpowertothechargerhasbeeninterruptedduetoa
dropinvoltage/currentoutputordisconnectionfromthepowersource
disconnectthebatteryfromthecharger.Checktomakesurethattheinput

Installthefour(4)includedAAbatteriesinthebackofthetransmitterbyfirstremovingthe
batterycompartmentcover/door.Ensureproperpolarityofthebatteriesbeforeinstalling
them(asnotedbythemarkingsmoldedintothebatterycompartment),thenreinstallthe
compartmentcover/door.
Checkthevoltageofthebatteriesandoperationofthetransmitterbyswitchingthepower
switchON(slideitupward).TheLEDindicatornearthebottomlefthandcornershouldblink
rapidlythenglowsolidredwhiletheLCDscreenpowersontodisplaythevoltageoftheAA
batteries.Theseindicationsconfirmthetransmitterispoweredonandfunctioningcorrectly.

Thelefthandstickonthetransmittercontrolsboththethrottle(climb/descend)andrudder
(yawleft/right)channels.Whenthelefthandstick(alsoknownasthe‘throttle’stick)isinthe
lowestpossiblepositiontherotorbladeswillnotspin.Movingthestickupwardwillincrease
thespeed/RPMsoftherotorblades.Increasingthespeed/RPMsoftherotorbladeswillcause
themodeltoclimb.
Decreasingthespeed/RPMsoftherotorbladesbyloweringthelefthandstickwillcausethe
modeltodescend.
Afterliftingthehelicopteroffthegroundyoucanmaintainaltitudein‘hover’bycarefully
movingthelefthandstickupanddownslightlyasneededsothehelicopterwillnotclimbor

voltagedecreases).Thismeansyoumayfinditnecessarytoadjusttheruddertrimlever
position/settingslightlythroughoutaflightbuttypicallyit’snotmorethanafew‘clicks’one
wayortheother.

Therighthandstickcontrolsboththeelevator(pitchfore/aft)andaileron(roll)channels.
Pushingthestickupward/forwardwillpitchthenoseofthehelicopterdownward,allowingit
tobeflownforward.Thisisaccomplishedbyhavingtheelevator(lefthand)servopushthe
swashplateupward.
Pullingtherighthandstickdownward/backwardwillpitchthetailofthehelicopter
downward,allowingittobeflownbackward.Thisisaccomplishedbyhavingtheelevator
(lefthand)servopulltheswashplatedownward.
Theelevatortrimlever(locatedimmediatelytotheleftoftherighthandstick)canbeusedto
helpkeepthehelicopterfromdriftingforwardorbackwardwhenhoveringandwithnoright
handstick/elevatorcontrolinput.Forexample,ifthehelicopterdriftsforwardwhenhovering
slidetheelevatortrimleverdownwarduntilthehelicopterhoversaslevelaspossiblewithout
