Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do I need to order a battery with the wireless handheld unit?
A. No, each wireless handheld unit (V450HDS36780001), includes a battery. Additional batteries (98-
9000224-01) can be ordered separately if you wish to have more than one.
Q. Can I connect the wireless cradle through USB? If so, will the cradle recharge the handheld’s
battery?
A. Yes, the USB is available for both the wired and wireless units. The USB bus cable (12900094601)
will provide power to the cradle and to recharge the battery. However the battery will recharge much
faster if the cradle is connected by the USB cable with separate power (12900094201) and power
supply (98900018101).
Q. When connecting the V450 using RS232, does the unit need the external power supply?
A. Yes, the RS232 connection requires the RS232C cable (12900095301) with power to be supplied
by the separate power supply (98900018101) into the cable. This is the same for both the wired and
wireless configurations.
Q. Is the wireless V450 Bluetooth?
A. Yes, wireless handheld unit (V450HDS36780001), uses Bluetooth communication to connect from
the handheld to the cradle. The Cradle is then connected into the system with one of the possible
configurations. However you may choose to connect the wireless handheld unit directly to a Bluetooth
host device. A video showing the Bluetooth to host connection can be found at:
https://automation.omron.com/en/us/video/player/21299
Q. Do I need the external battery charger?
A. In most wireless configurations, the cradle (12900093701) provides charging for the battery.
However if the handheld is directly connected to a host device over Bluetooth, then the external 4-slot
battery charger (98900018501) with power supply (98900018201) & cable (12900095901) is a good
option to re-charge the battery in the handheld.
