Fundamental safety warnings
Danger of electric shock!
This is an electrical appliance and may cause electric shock.
You should therefore respect the following safety warnings:
• Nevertouchtheappliancewithdamphands.

• Neverunplugtheappliancebypullingthepowercable

supply voltage corresponds to the voltage indica-
ted on the rating plate. Connect the appliance to
an eciently earthed power supply and sockets

• “Safe transport”: certain models are tted with a
locking system which locks the iron in position during
transport. When the iron is locked in position, it
must not be used as a carrying handle to tran-
sport the appliance! To position the iron correctly,
insertthetipofthesoleplateintothehousing,restthe
ironontheironrestandmovethelocktothelocking
position (g.1).
 Toreleasetheiron,movethelocktothereleaseposition
andremovetheironfromthehousing(g.2).
• Whileironing,youcanrestthetipofthesoleplateonthe
heatresistantbaseabovethehousing.
Theappliancemustbeusedandrestedon
astableheatresistantsurface.
Whenplacingtheirononitsstand,ensure
that the surface on which the stand is pla-
cedisstable.
• NEVER store the iron in a vertical position!

Preparations for use
What water to use?
The appliance works with normal tap water.
Incaseofveryhardwater(hardnessabove27°F)wesuggest
using demineralised water diluted with 50% tap water.
Neverusedemineralisedwateronitsown.Neverusechemi-
calsubstancesordetergents(e.g.perfumedwater,essences,
descalingsolution,etc).
Important!
Donotusemineralorothertypesofwater(suchasrainwater
orwaterforbatteriesorairconditionersetc.).
Filling the reservoir
Danger!
Makesurethepowercableisunpluggedfromthemainsso-
cket.
• Openthedoorofthewaterreservoirandll.Neverexce-
edtheMAXlevelmarkedonthereservoir(0.7l).
• Plug the appliance into a mains socket.
Please note:
Thersttimeyouusetheappliance,thesteamgeneratoris
empty.
Whenllingthesteamgeneratorforthersttime,itwilltake
longertoheatupastheairmustbeeliminatedfromtheste-
amgeneratorandreplacedbythewater.
Duringlling/heatingitisnormalforthepumpto makea
noise.
The appliance will also run out of water much more quickly
thanwithsubsequentlls.
Steamironing
• TurntheapplianceonbyrotatingthedialG to one of the
steam positions. The light on the control panel and
light L on the iron come on.
• Waitforthe (steamready)lightI to come on and the
light L on the iron to go o.
• Todeliversteam,pressthesteambuttonM,underthe
handgrip.
Please note:
• Whenusedforthersttime,theappliancemaygiveo
smokeandanodourforseveralminutes.Thisiscaused
byheatingandsubsequentdryingofthesealersusedin
assemblingthesteamgeneratorandiron.
 Youarerecommendedtoventilatetheroom.
• Thelights I and Lwillgoonandoduringironing,according

tothetemperaturereachedbythesteamgeneratorandiron.

• Whileironing,itisnormaltohearthewaterllpumpcome
onandgoo.Thisiscausedbytransferofwaterfromthere-
servoirtothesteamgenerator.

youhavenotusedsteamforseveralminutes,pressthesteam

Adjusting the iron thermostat (N)
Turnthethermostatdialtosetthemostsuitabletemperature
forthetypeoffabrictobeironed.
Forsteamironing,thetemperaturemust
be within the steam sector shown
alongside.
Belowisabriefguidetohelpyouchoosethebesttemperatu-
reforthetypeoffabrictobeironed.

Steamregulator
The steam regulator dial G enablesthequantityofsteamto
beincreasedordecreasedaccordingtothefabricbeingiro-
ned.
1. Ideal for garments requiring little steam.
2. Ideal for good quality ironing with maximum energy
andwatersavings.
3. Ideal for top quality ironing with energy and water sa-
vings.
4. Ideal for dicult-to-iron garments or creases.
Whenyouturntheironon,youarerecommendedtoturnthe
steamregulatordialtothemaximumsteamposition.
Topping up the water in the reservoir
Whenthewaterrunsout,the light comes on.
Whenthelightcomeson,youmusttopupthewaterinthe
reservoirasrapidlyaspossible,followingtheprocedurefor
llingthereservoir.
Thisenablesyoutocontinueironingwithoutinterruption.
If you delay topping up the water and the steam generator
coolsdown,thesystemnolongeremitssteamandwhenthe
reservoirislledagain,theappliancefunctionsasthough
turned on for the rst time.
Inotherwords,5minuteswillelapsebeforethesteamisre-
ady and during those 5 minutes you will hear the pump ll 4
or5timesforabout30seconds.
Afterthis periodof stabilisation,the steamgeneratorwill
startworkingnormally,periodicallyllingwithwater.
Whenthe“nowater”lightcomeson,youshouldnot
continue steam ironing with the pump vibrating.
If this practice is continued, in the long run it could
irreparably damage internal components.
Whenthewaterinthereservoirhasrunout,thepumpbe-
comes noisier.
This is part of normal operation and is not a cause for con-
cern.However,asdescribedabove,youshouldimmediately
topupthewaterinthereservoir.
Dry ironing
Todryiron,turnthethermostatdialontheirontoselectthe
temperature most suitablefor the garmentstobe ironed,
thenironwithoutpressingthesteambutton.
Maintenance
Rinsing the steam generator
Tooptimiseoperation,maintainconstantsteamproduction
overtimeandsaveenergy,rinsethesteamgeneratorwith
waterafterevery10ironingsessions.Proceedasfollows:
• Makesuretheapplianceisturnedo,unpluggedfrom
the mains and completely cold.
• Empty the water reservoir by turning the appliance
upsidedownoverasink(g.3).
• TurntheprotectivecapB on the side of the appliance
clockwiseandremove(g.4).
• Useacoinorscrewdrivertounscrewthesteamgenera-
torcap(g.5).
• Eliminatethewaterinthesteamgenerator(g.6);
• Resttheapplianceonitsside(g.7)andllwithama-
ximumof0.7litresofwaterusingafunneltoavoidthe
water spilling outside the steam generator.
• Shaketheappliancetorinsetheentiresteamgenerator,
then throw the water away.
• Repeat the rinse procedure.
• Screwthecapbackon,makingsureitclosesthesteam
generator eciently.

• ReplacetheprotectivecapB.
 Beforeresumingironing,dischargesteamintotheairfor
a few seconds to completely eliminate any residues from
the internal circuits.
Cleaning
• Thesurfaceofthesoleplatemustbekeptclean.Toclean,
just wipe the cold surface with a damp cloth.
• Theironmustneverbetreatedwithdescalingproducts.
After ironing
After nishing ironing, you should put the ironing system
awaywiththedoortightlyclosedtoavoiddustandforeign
bodies falling into the reservoir and possibly jeopardising
operation of the pump.
Place the iron on the iron rest in the secured position and wait
forthesystemtocooldownbeforeputtingitaway.

Please note:
• Afterironing,thewaterremaininginthereservoirneed
notbedrained.
 However,youarerecommendedtodrainthewaterifthe
appliance is left unused for long periods.
Disposal
In compliance with European directive 2002/96/EC,
theappliancemustnotbedisposedofwithhousehold
waste,but taken toan authorised waste separation
and recycling centre.

PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION
The appliance does not come on. The appliance is not plugged into a mains
socket.
Make sure the appliance is correctly connected
and press the iron and steam generator ON
buttons.
Steamleaksfromthereservoir. The maximum pressure safety system has
tripped.
Turn the appliance o immediately and con-
tactthemanufacturer’scustomerservices.
Waterleaksfromtheholesinthebottomof
the soleplate.
Waterhascondensedinsidethetubesbecause
steamisbeingusedfor thersttime,orhas
notbeenusedforsometime.
Press the steam button several times away
fromtheironingboard.Thiswilleliminatecold
water from the steam circuit.
The ironing system is positioned on an unsta-
bleand/orslopingsurface.
Theironmustbeusedandrestedonastable
surface.
Brown coloured uid leaks from the
soleplate.
Chemical water softeners or additives have
beenpouredintothewaterreservoirorsteam
generator.
Neverpour products into the waterreservoir
(see our tips in the quick guide). Clean the
soleplate with a damp cloth.
Thersttimetheapplianceisturnedon,you
notice smoke
Some parts have been treated with sealer/
lubricantwhich evaporatesthersttime the
iron heats up.
This is normal and will stop when you have
used the iron a few times.
The appliance emits an intermittent noise
associatedwithvibrations.
Waterisbeingpumpedintothesteamgene-
rator.
This is completely normal.
The appliance emits a continuous noise
associatedwithvibrations.
Unplugthesystemfromthemainsandcontact
themanufacturer’scustomerservices.
