Unpack the appliance carefully. If you dispose of the packaging, do so
having regard to any recycling regulations in your area.
Inspect the iron carefully. If any item is missing or damaged please
contact the Tesco store where you purchased the item, or your nearest
Tesco store. Please have your receipt ready when you call.
The Soleplate:
Remove any protective packaging from the soleplate (3) before use.
Polish the soleplate lightly with a clean soft cloth to remove any resi-
dues. The soleplate is coated. To protect the nish do not use abrasives
to clean the iron and avoid running the iron over metal surfaces, but-
tons, zippers, etc..
Assembly
Set the steam station on a rm level surface. To place the Iron on the
iron rest, angle the iron down and place the front of the iron in the rest,
then lower the rear of the iron into the rest.
Preparing the Anti-Calc Filter

1. Place your hand under the catch in the water tank. Lift the catch
up and pull forward to remove the tank.
2. The anti-calc lter is at the rear of the base. Grasp the anti-calc
lter and remove it from the housing. Immerse the lter for two
minutes in clean water and then replace the lter.
Filling the Water Tank
Remove the water tank and
open the tank cap. Fill the
tank with fresh water using
the cup provided.. Do not
ll the tank above the MAX

8. Depress the Steam Trigger. The steam pump operates and steam
will emerge.
9. Pass the iron over an old cotton cloth or towel for several minutes
to remove any deposits from the soleplate, to allow any debris
from the iron to dissipate and to clean out the steam chamber.
Some parts have been lightly greased and the iron might smoke slightly
when switched on for the rst time. After a short while, this will cease.
Dry Ironing
Set the iron to the desired temperature and wait for the pilot light
to go out. Do not press the Steam Trigger.
Dry ironing can be carried out at any temperature setting. When
dry ironing at high temperature settings take care not to scorch
the fabric.
There should be sucient water in the tank whether you are dry or
steam ironing.
Auto Switch-O
If the iron is operated without steam for 10 minutes (or is left idle for
10 minutes) the iron will turn o automatically. This is a safety feature.
Ironing Temperatures and Hints
Check the ironing instructions attached to the article (they are on
a label showing a symbol of an iron). Always follow these ironing
instructions. The indications on the irons temperature dial and the
table below will help you.
If there are no ironing instructions but you know the fabric, then
use the table below. The table is valid only for the actual materi-
als and does not take account of any nish applied to the fabric.
Textiles to which a nish has been applied (wrinkle relief, printed T
shirts etc.) should be ironed at lower temperatures.
If the fabric contains mixed bres, select the lowest ironing tem-
perature of the composition, e.g. iron a 60% polyester /40% cotton
mix at the temperature indicated for polyester.
Do not iron
Synthetics. Set Iron to LOW ( • )
Wool, Silk. Set Iron to MEDIUM ( • • )
Cotton, Linen. Set Iron to HIGH ( • • • )
The iron heats up quicker than it cools down. Sort fabrics to be
ironed into groups according to temperature; wool with wool, cot-
ton with cotton, etc. Start by ironing articles requiring low tem-
perature settings and progress to higher ones.
Note: Do not iron garments that are dirty or stained. The irons heat
may set the stain.
Pure (100%) wool fabrics may be pressed by dry ironing with the
iron set to a steam position and the garment protected by a dry
cloth. To avoid giving wool garments a “shine you can turn the
garment inside out and iron it on the “wrong” side.
During Ironing: In between operations always stand the iron on its
heel or on the steam station rest. NEVER leave the iron face down.
Page 6
Vertical Steam
Select the Steam level and wait for the selector to stop ashing.
Set the iron to its highest temperature and wait for the pilot light
to go out.
Set the iron vertical. Hold the iron away from you and 15 – 30 cen-
timetres from the garment.
Press the Steam Button for a few seconds. Steam will penetrate
into the garment removing the wrinkles.
For stubborn wrinkles: Wait a few seconds. Repeat the procedure.
Most wrinkles can be removed within three presses.
Warning: DO NOT allow anyone to come near you during this pro-
cess. NEVER allow steam to get anywhere near your body or cloth-
ing or apply steam to clothes or fabrics that are being worn by
humans or pets. DANGER OF SCALDING.
Hold the iron facing away from you at all times.
DO NOT OVERREACH or operate the iron while standing on a lad-
der etc.
Make sure that the power cord and the iron cords remain slack and
that there is no danger of overturning the steam station base.
CONTROL PANEL WARNINGS AND ACTIONS
Low Water Level Indicator
If the water in the tank is too low, the low water level indica-
tor will illuminate. You will hear two beeps and the steam
generator will shut o. You must now rell the water tank
and reset the appliance.
After relling the tank, press the Reset Button once to ex-
tinguish the low water level indicator. You can now release
steam for ironing
Descaling Indicator
If the mineral deposits in the anti-calc lter have reached a
high level the descaling indicator ashes and will continue
to ash until the anti-calc lter is replaced.
1. Depress and hold the On/O button to switch the appliance o.
2. The anti-calc lter is in the base. Grasp the anti-calc lter and re-
move it from the housing following the procedure on Page 4. Dis-
pose of the used lter at a recycling centre.
3. A replacement anti-calc lter is provided. Unwrap the lter and
place it for two minutes in clean water before inserting it in the
steam station.
4. Switch the appliance on with the On/O button.
5. If the descaling indicator stays on after replacing the lter, press
the Reset button to reset the unit before resuming operations. If
the indicator still stays on, switch the unit o. Remove and re-t
the lter before switching on and resetting the unit again.
Do not operate the iron with an ineective anti-calc lter, or
without a lter. The pump action of the appliance will be im-
paired and the steam function could fail altogether.
If you live in a hard water area, using demineralised or dis-
tilled water will prolong the life of the anti-calc lter.
Page 7
After you have nished ironing:
Press and hold the On/O button to switch the appliance o.
Switch the unit o at the mains and unplug.
Stand the iron on the iron rest on the Steam Station and let the iron
cool down fully.
Remove the water tank, empty the tank and replace it. Never leave
water in the tank when the appliance is not in use.
Care and Cleaning
Unplug the unit from the mains and allow it to cool down fully.
Cleaning: To remove deposits from the soleplate, apply a small amount
of mild cleaner to a damp cloth, forming a paste on the cloth. Gently rub
the soleplate, then wipe with a moist cloth. The body of the iron and the
steam station base may be cleaned with a barely damp cloth and then
dried thoroughly. Do not wet the appliance body, cord or mains plug.
A very small amount of water may accumulate under the appliance from
the drain hole in the base (see P. 3). If this occurs wipe it up with a cloth.
CAUTION: Never use scouring pads, abrasives or harsh cleaners on any
part of the appliance or the iron soleplate.
Storage: When not in use the appliance should be securely stored out
of the reach of children. Store the iron on the rest with the cord loosely
looped. You can use the clip on the side to retain excess cord. DO NOT
wind the cord tightly around the appliance. If the cord has become
kinked during use, straighten it out.
Do NOT store the iron face down on any hard surface or you may damage
the nish on the soleplate.
Anti-Calc Filter: Your appliance is equipped with an anti-calc lter. As a
result, you can use tap water as it will be ltered by the cartridge.
It is necessary to replace the cartridge approximately every 3-6 months
depending on the frequency of use and the hardness of the water in your
area. If the water contains high lenels of scale, you will have to replace the
cartridge more frequently. You can delay the replacement of the cartridge
by using demineralized water or a mixture of 50% tap water and 50% dis-
tilled water to ll the water tank.
When you put a new anti-calc cartridge in the appliance, immerse it in
water for two minutes before inserting it in the appliance.
To buy a new cartridge: please contact your supplying Tesco store or
navigate to the steam station model number (IRSG2416) on the Tesco
website www.tesco.com/direct and follow the instructions.
