3 Safety Guidelines
Thefollowinggeneralguidelines,togetherwiththeinstructionsprovided
throughoutthisguide,ensureusersafetywhileoperatingandmaintainingthe
DT3CleanStation.If the system is not operated as specified, the user's
safety might be compromised!
• NeveroperatetheDT3CleanStationwhilethecoverisopen.
• Thepowercableshouldbeconnectedataneasilyaccessibleelectricsocket
neartheDT3CleanStation.
• DonotmovetheDT3CleanStationsothatthepowercablebecomestautor
disconnectsfromthepowersocket.
• AVACgroundfaultinterrupt(RCD)mustbeused.
• OnlyoperatetheDT3CleanStationwhenwearingneoprenegloves,safety
gogglesandaprotectivemask.
• Makesurethattheroomisproperlyventilated.Theventilationsystemshould
changetheairatleastfourtimeseveryhour.
• Removepartswiththesuppliedbasketorwithsteelorplastictongs.Donot
usealuminumtongswhenthecleaningsolutionisintheDT3CleanStation.
• NevermovetheDT3CleanStationwhenthereisliquidinthetank.
• Placingpartsinthetankraisestheliquidlevel.Monitortheliquidlevelofthe
tanktopreventoverflowing.
3.1 Alkaline Cleaning Solution Safety Instructions
Wearthefollowingprotectiveclothingwhenworkingwiththealkalinecleaning
solution:
• safetygoggles
• protectivemask
• nitrilegloves
• bootsorclosedshoes
Dependingonhowyouplantohandlethealkalinecleaningsolution,the
suggestedprotectiveclothinglistedabovemightnotbesufficient.Consult
yourcompanySafetyOfficerbefore handlingthesolution.
3.1.1 Preparing the Alkaline Cleaning Solution
Alwaysaddcausticsodatowater.Neverpourwaterontocausticsoda.Mixingit
withwatergeneratesheatthatcouldigniteothermaterials.SeeDOC-08380,
"WorkingwithAlkalineCleaningSolution".
3.2 Waste Disposal
Fullycuredmodelspresentnospecialsafetyorhealth-relatedissues.However,
checkiflocalregulationsregardcuredandpartiallycuredresinsashazardous
industrialwaste,andcomplywithallapplicableregulationsgoverningtheir
disposal.
Disposeofthealkalinecleaningsolutionaccordingtolocalregulations.

4 Installation
4.1 Selecting a Location
Prepareaninstallationareathatmeetsthefollowingconditions:
• alevelandstablesurface,whichisabletobeartheloadofthecleaningstation
(45.4kg/100lbs)
• nearasinkordrain
• nearapowersocket
Donotplacetheunitsothatthepowercablebecomestightordisconnects
fromthepowersocket.
• atleast15cm(6inches)clearanceoneachside
• roomtemperaturebetween18°Cand25°C(65°F-77°F)
Recommendations:
• anon-slipfloorbecausewatermaydripfromcleanedmodels
• anearbysourceofwater
4.2 Connecting the Drainage Hose
Toconnectthedrainagehose:
1. Connectastandard¾"gardenhosetothehosefittingatthebackoftheunit.

2. Insertthedrainagehoseintoadrain,sink,orcontainer,accordingtolocal
wastedisposalregulations.

Beforeoperatingthecleaningstation,putonneoprenegloves,mask,andsafety
goggles.
YoucancleanmodelsprintedwithSUP707withwateronly,oryoucanaddan
alkalinesolutiontothewaterforcleaningmodelsprintedwithSUP706.
5.1 Filling the Tank
Tofillthetankwithwater:
1. Closethedrainvalveattherearoftheunit(seeFigure1onthepreviouspage).
2. Disconnectthepowercord.
3. Makesurethatadrainagehoseisproperlyconnected(see"Connectingthe
DrainageHose"onthepreviouspage).
4. Fillthetankuntilthewaterreachesatleast2.54cm(1inch)belowthetopof
thetank.
Thisisapproximately23liters(6gallons).
Warning:
Addingtoomuchwatertothetankwillcauseittooverflow.
Fillthetankuntilatleast2.54cm(1inch)belowthetopofthetank.Ifyoufill
thetankmorethanthis,takeintoaccountthevolumeofthepartstobe
cleanedsothatitdoesn'toverflow.
Thereisawater-levelswitch2.54cm(1inch)belowthetopofthetank.If
thewaterleveldropsbelowthislevel,theDT3CleanStationwillnotpower
on.
5.2 Adding Alkaline Cleaning Solution to the Tank
AnalkalinecleaningsolutionisusedforcleaningmodelsprintedwithSUP706.
Thesolutionispreparedbyaddingsodiumhydroxide(NaOH)andsodium
metasilicate(Na
2
SiO
3
)tothewaterinthetank.SeeDOC-08380,"Workingwith
AlkalineCleaningSolution".

1. MakesurethatthepowerswitchonthefrontpanelisintheOff position.

2. PressthedownarrowtodisplayHOUR.
3. PressandholdtheSet buttonwhilepressingtheArrow buttonstoadjustthe
cleaninghours.
4. PressthedownarrowagaintodisplayMIN.
5. PressandholdtheSet buttonwhilepressingtheArrow buttonstoadjustthe
cleaningminutes.
6. PresstheInfinity buttontoexitthemenu.
5.4.2 Starting the Cleaning Cycle
Tostartthecleaningcycle,presstheinfinityanddownbuttons.
5.4.3 Stopping the Cleaning Cycle
TheDT3CleanStationstopsautomaticallywhenthetimercountsdowntozero.
Tomanuallystopthecleaningcycle:

Inthecaseofemergency,alsodisconnectthepowercable.
5.5 Removing Printed Models
Warning:
Alwayswearneoprenesafetygloves,amask,andsafetygoggleswhen
removingprintedmodelsfromtheDT3CleanStation.
1. Liftoutthebasket,orusestainlesssteelorplastictongstoremoveprinted
modelsfromtheDT3CleanStation.
Warning:
NeverusealuminumtongstoremoveprintedmodelsfromtheDT3
CleanStation.
2. Rinsetheprintedmodelsunderrunningwateruntiltheydonotfeelslippery.
3. Drythemodelswithpapertowels,orallowthemtoair-dry.

printingmaterialinsideit.
6.1 General Maintenance
• KeeptheDT3CleanStationcleanbywipingitdownwithadampclothafter
use.
• TheDT3CleanStationpumpandmotorarefactory-sealedanddonotrequire
anylubricationorsealreplacement.
6.2 Disassembling the Unit for Cleaning
Ifyounoticeasignificantdecreaseinwatercirculation,theremightbeabuild-up
ofprintingmaterialblockingthepumpsuctionstrainerormanifold.
6.2.1 Cleaning the Pump Suction Strainer
Warning:
Alwayswearneoprenesafetygloves,amask,andsafetygoggleswhen
cleaningthepumpsuctionstrainer.
Tocleanthepumpsuctionstrainer:
1. Removethetanklidanddryit.
2. Inspectthesuctionstrainerandremoveanymaterialdeposits(seeFigure5on
thenextpage.
Ifthesuctionstrainermeshbecomesexcessivelycoatedwithmaterial
deposits,itmightbenecessarytoreplaceit.ContactyourStratasys
representative.
3. Usinga7/16"socket,loosen(butdo not remove)thefour1/4"-20nuts
locatedbehindtheholesatthetopofthejetplate(seeFigure5onthenext
page).

6.2.2 Cleaning the Manifold
Tocleanthemanifold:
1. Usinga5/16"socket,loosenthehoseclampconnectingthemanifoldtothe
hose.
2. Usinga3/8"socket,removethetwo10-32nuts.
3. Completelyremovethepipeclampsandmanifold.
4. Removethematerialdepositsblockingthejetsbyeitherpullingitthroughthe
holes,orbyflushingthemanifoldwithwater.

6.3 Re-Assembling the Cleaning Station
1. Re-installthemanifoldandtightenthehoseclamp.
2. Re-installthejetplatebyslidingitbetweenthewashersandthetank.

7 Troubleshooting
7.1 The Control Panel is Blank or the Cleaning Station Does
Not Run
• Checkthatthewaterlevelinthetankisnotbelowapproximately2.54cm
(1inch)fromthetopofthetank.
• Checkthatthecleaningstationispluggedintoawallsocketandthatthe
socketislive.
• Checkthatthecleaningstationisturnedon.
• Checkforablownfuse.
Whenreplacingfuses,alwaysdisconnecttheDT3CleanStationfromthe
wallsocketandkeepthepowercableinview,sothatitisnotaccidentally
pluggedbackin.
Tocheckandreplacethefuse:
1. Disconnecttheunitfromthewallsocket.
2. Locatethefusesbehindthetank.
3. Unscrewthefusecovers.

7.2 Printed Models Take a Long Time to Clean

necessary.Forinstructionsonusingthehydrometer,seeDOC-08380,
"WorkingwithAlkalineCleaningSolution".
• Checkthatthesuctionstrainerandthemanifoldjetsareclearofmaterial
deposits(see"Maintenance"onpage12).
7.3 Error Messages on the Control Panel
Ifanerrorisdisplayed(suchasErr4orErr5),contactyourStratasys
representative.
7.4 The DT3 CleanStation Stops Mid-Cycle
• Checkthatthewaterlevelisatleast2.54cm(1inch)fromthetopofthetank.
