Software Introduction
Creator is a professional development tool kit special for the SmartView Series of ICP DAS. The
SmartView with the Creator can integrate 18 kinds of commonly used PLC communication protocols,
provide rich and flexible object editing tools, easily navigate/adjust the window management,
import/export data repeatedly to shorten the development process, download/update SmartView
project simply using the TCP transport, and construct the control system from a small, simple and
local control/monitor application even to the large buildings, factories, engine rooms... management
systems.

Software Installation
1. Installation environment
1.1. Software recommendations
OSMicrosoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 7
.Net FrameworkMicrosoft .Net Framework 2.0 or later version
1.2. Hardware recommendations
CPU: 1.8 GHz or higher models
Memory: at least 1G RAM memory
Hard Disk: at least 100M HD space
Display: support more more than 800*600 resolution full-color display
2. Installation steps
2.1. Setup from CD
Auto: Insert the CD into the CD-ROM, the computer will auto-run the setup file.
Manual: Mouse double click on the Creator_Setup.exe file in the root directory of the CD-ROM to
run the setup file.
2.2. Setup Wizard
Please follow the message windows of the Setup Wizard to install the software Creator.

Software Interface Overview
1. Program Window Interface
Creator software interface has 3 parts:
Menu Bar: List the main functions in 6 types. Click on the menu can expand the tree
structure.
Tool Bar: The most commonly used functions are listed in the Standard Bar as the
icons. Other functions are also made as the icons separated in the Design,
Language, Status, Object, View, Tool Box... tool bar. Move and stay the mouse
on the icon can display the function instructions.
Screen Design Area: The main working area in the center for designing, editing, viewing
the HMI screen and functions

First Project: Hello World
Hello World is the most basic and small program in every computer programming language that just to
output a string “Hello World” and is also a tradition for beginners to practice this small example
program when learning a new language.
Using the Creator, the user can easily complete the “Hello World” without hard coding. Please use the
Creator by the steps below to build a SmartView project and output Hello World on the HMI screen.

2. Using an object
Use a Label object in the Tool Box to display the text “Hello World” on the SmartView screen.

2.2. Set up the property
Individual objects have their own properties setting. To change the text of the object Label, please
double click the mouse left key on the object, it will bring up the Property View window, click the
“Generally” property of the Label project, and then edit the text “Label” to become “Hello World.

3. Downloading the project
Before download the project to the SmartView, the user must set up the download IP Address.

3.2. Download
Click the menu bar [Tools > Download]. It will compile the project first, if compiling successfully,
and then it will download the project to the target device according to the download setting.

This example uses a SmartView SV-2201 series and a Modbus device M-7045D (16 DOs). Through this
example, the user can learn more Creator operations, such as the connection listing, variable setting,
and the object selecting and using, then will build a project more easy and fast.

Select the COM port and the communication protocol for connecting the Modbus M-7045D
