IV. Maintaining your Water Bee Pedal Boat
A) Bearing Inspection
Future Beach recommends that the owner check the bearings every 2-3 months in coarse sand,
and salt-water conditions. To check the bearing:
1. Using your 3/4” ratchet,
remove the bolt from the
crankshaft. (Note: to
remove the bolt, use vice-
grips to hold bolt on other
side in place)
3. Now the bearing may
be accessed and inspected
for grit, dirt, and any other
contaminants that may
cause damage to the drive
system.
2. Pull away crankshaft
away from bearing in
order to access the
bearing.
B) Draining water from your Water Bee pedal boat
Although your Water Bee is roto-molded, in the case that water has somehow managed to enter
inside your hull, it is important to remove it before storing and/or reusing.
2. Using a file, or
flat screwdriver,
unscrew the drain
p
lugs.
1. Locate the two drain
p
lugs at the rear of your
p
edal boat
3. Stand boat up against a wall
to let water drain from the
drain plugs removed in steps
1-2. Locate and remove drain
p
lugs on the underside of the
p
edal boat.

VI. Water Bee Technological Aspects
Introduction
With its sleek contour lines, elegant shape, and gorgeous body, there is no question that the
Water Bee is truly a beautiful specimen. The outer beauty of a product, however, often masks the
technology that produced it.
At Future Beach, we are not only extremely proud of the Water Bee’s aesthetic appeal, but the
technology behind the beauty as well. For product designers at Future Beach, the major concern
is how technology translates into function.
All materials used to produce your Water Bee pedal boat’s components have been selected for
their quality and performance characteristics.
The technological aspects, features, and functions of the Water Bee pedal boat are outlined
below.
Catamaran Hull
Your 2002 Water Bee pedal boat is made from rotational-molded, high-density polyethylene.
Since the hull is rotational-molded, there are no seams that may rupture and cause leakage from
occurring. Since polyethylene is a high-density plastic, the hull of your Water Bee is extremely
durable.
The polyethylene hull of your Water Bee pedal boat is 100 % UV-stable, and 100% salt-water
resistant. This means that your Water Bee will keep its color and provide family fun for years, in
no matter what type of application – whether for personal use or in commercial situations.
The catamaran hull design of your Water Bee pedal boat ensures tremendous stability in all wave
and wind conditions. The sleek, contoured shape of your Water Bee yields excellent
aerodynamics, as well as exceptional hydrodynamics.
Flexible Backrests
If you take the time to inspect the backrests of your Water Bee pedal boat, you will notice that
each backrest possesses three horizontal grooves. While our earliest Water Bee backrests had
only one groove each, our research over the years as an industry leader has shown that the
benefit of the three-groove system is that weight and stress gets evenly distributed over three
groves, rather than just one, allowing for even more weight and stress to be applied without the
fear of ever breaking.
The backrests are not only extremely durable, but easy to install and adjust as well. This
flexibility allows for any-size person to achieve optimum levels of seating comfort and
efficiency while pedaling.

Or, if you want to sunbathe, simply lift up the backrest, and rotate it over the adjustment rail until
the backrest hangs over the side of the hull. The seating area, once the backrest has been moved
aside, can double as a comfortable sundeck.
Hydrodynamic/Angled Paddle Blades
Your Water Bee pedal boat possesses paddle blades that are made from extremely durable
polypropylene. For those who are unfamiliar with plastics technology, polypropylene is the same
material used in the design and manufacturing of winter shovels. This means that your paddle
blades will not break when they come into contact with objects below the water’s surface.
Another great feature of the paddle blades is that they are specially angled so that when each
blade hits the water, it does not slap at the water (as is the case in most pedal boats), but rather
grips the water. This not only allows for a smoother, quieter ride, but for superior propulsion and
hydrodynamic performance as well.
Self-Bailing Pedal Wells
At the base of each pedal well of your Water Bee pedal boat there is an aperture that acts to drain
water automatically from your pedal boat. The benefit of these drain holes are that all
contaminants that would have otherwise been left to fester in the pedal well get flushed back into
the water. The self-bailing pedal wells mean the Water Bee will always be ready to use. Owners
and their friends will never again have to spend time emptying their pedal wells after a
rainstorm.
Self-Lubricating and Self-Cleaning Bearings
The Delrin bearings of your Water Bee pedal boat possess large grooves that act to provide both
consistent lubrication and non-stop cleaning action to your drive system. The 100 % non-
corroding bearings act to flush out all sand, salt, and any other materials that may cause
contamination, rusting, or any other damage from occurring.
Integrated Handles
The integrated handles, found at both the front and the rear of your pedal boat allow the user to
easily carry the pedal boat, or to tie it down to a dock.
