Sky-USB BOX Quick Installation Guide

1. Sky-USB BOX software Installation:

Execute the Setup file in the CD:\SkyPhone2000-rel-xxx\setup.exe.

2. Sky-USB BOX hardware Installation:

 Plug in Sky-USB BOX to the USB Port

 When new device is found, select “Install from CD-ROM”. Driver will be installed

automatically

3. Download Skype and account registration: Go to www.skype.com

to get the newest Skype

software and follow the instruction to install and to register an account for FREE.

4. When Skype and SkyPhone2000 start, system will open the warning windows. Choose “Allow

this program to use Skype” and click OK.

Skype configuration

(very important for Skype to work properly with SkyBOX.)

 File \ Options \ Hand/Headsets

 Audio In: set to USB Audio or SKYBOX

 Audio Out: set to USB Audio or SKYBOX

 Ringing: set to USB Audio or SKYBOX

 Check “Use PC Ring”

 Attention! Microsoft Windows usually automatically configure BOX (USB Audio) as the

default audio. Please go to Control Panel then Audio and Multimedia to configure to your

original sound card as the “Default audio device”. It is recommended to check “Always

use default audio”.

6. Phone Connection: Connect a regular house phone to “Phone”port.

(Optional)

If the same phone is used for both Public Switched Telephone Network “PSTN” and

Skype calls, connect an outside PSTN line to “Line” port.

7. Test Drive: Pick up the phone. Skype window should pop up. Use keyboard and type

“echo123” and then “Enter”. Follow the voice instruction from the test site to record voice and

hear the recording. Hang up the phone and Skype window will become minimized.

8. Operation

 Outgoing VoIP calls with Skype

 PC-to-PC:

z Skype will pop up automatically when the phone is picked up.

z Dial the number of your Skype contact and follow by “ # # ”

. The call is

completed.

z Alternatively, you can use mouse to double-click on a Skype contact.

 PC-to-Phone (SkypeOut Service):

z Purchase a pre-paid calling card from Skype on www.skype.com

 Go to Tools \ Go to my account page. Sign in with your Skype account.

z To place a call using SkypeOut:

 00 + Country code + Local Number + # #

 Fixed line in Taiwan: 00-886-2-2004-0000

 Mobile phone in Taiwan: 00-886-935-123-456

 China: 00-86- -…

 USA: 00-1- …

z Make sure you enter “# #”

at the end in order to send out the dialed digits and

to complete the call.

 Incoming VoIP calls with Skype:

 Simply pick up the phone and answer the VoIP call.

 Outgoing PSTN calls:

 Pick up the telephone. You will be in default Skype “VoIP mode”.

 Press “ ”

within two seconds to change to “PSTN mode”. When you hear the

dial-tone, proceed as regular phone calls.

 Incoming PSTN calls:

 Simply pick up the telephone.

 SkyBOX will automatically switch to “PSTN Mode”.
