HARDWARE INSTALLATION
Installing the BarcoMed
2MP2 or 2MP1NT
Graphics Controller
Notice: Wear a protective ESD strap during
installation or handling of the board. Electrostatic
charges can damage the board.
Figure 1: The 2MP2 and 2MP1NT
To install the 2MP2 or 2MP1 NT into your computer,
follow these steps:
1) Turn off the power to your computer and
disconnect the power cord.
2) Remove the chassis cover according to the
manufacturer’s instructions. Be sure to observe
safety warnings.
3) Check the setting of the VGA jumper (JP3) on
the graphics board. By default, VGA will be
disabled (the jumper will be on the pins). This
jumper setting will allow you to use a separate
VGA card and display as a boot console. In
order for you to use the on-board VGA on the
board, you need a multi-sync display and you
must enable the VGA by removing the jumper
from the pins.
VGA Jumper

BarcoMed 2MP2 and 2MP1NT Hardware Installation Guide
NOTE: If you have a separate VGA card and it
has a Cirrus chip, you must remove it from your
system before installing the 2MP2 or 2MP1NT.
If you have on-board VGA that uses a Cirrus
chip, consult your system manual on how to
disable it before installing the BarcoMed board.
Once the system VGA is disabled, you must
ensure that the BarcoMed board's VGA jumper
is enabled if you want to see your boot
messages.
4) Install the 2MP2 or 2MP1NT Graphics
Controller into a free PCI slot. Be sure that the
board is seated firmly in the slot.
5) Secure the card to the chassis with the PC's I/O
panel mounting screw, and replace the chassis
cover.
6) Connect the displays to the uppermost
connector on the 2MP2 or 2MP1NT (the output
farthest from the motherboard - see figure 2)
using the provided video cable. Note that the
left-hand display should be connected to A and
the right hand display (if there is one) should be
connected to B.

outputs.

Running Multiple
BarcoMed 2MP Boards
in a Single Host
NOTE: To run multiple BarcoMed 2MP2s,
multiple 2MP1NTs, or any combination of the
two in a single host with VGA enabled, you need
to enable the VGA jumper on only ONE of the
BarcoMed 2MP2s and disable the VGA jumper
on ALL other BarcoMed boards.
The physical order of the displays may vary
when you are running multiple BarcoMed 2MP
boards. This is due to the PC's PCI bus control
in the system BIOS, and not the BarcoMed
board. It may become necessary, depending on
how your PC's BIOS configures the PCI bus, to
switch your BNC display connections to achieve
a linear desktop configuration.
7) Each half of the display cable has three
connectors on it. The green one is the video,
the black one is the horizontal sync, and the
white one is the vertical sync.
8) Install the power cord, turn on the power, and
boot the system as usual.

If you make your own cables, you must tie all

connector closest to the graphics card.
System configuration
guidelines
Because of the low power consumption and
low heat generation of the 2MP2 and 2MP1NT,
multiple boards may be installed in adjacent
PCI slots or adjacent to other PCI boards.
Additionally there should be no need to modify
either the PC's power supply and/or cooling
system.
