This brick liner accessory is approved for use in the following
Vanguard direct-vent fireplace models: HDV Series, BHDV Series,
DDV Series, and BDV Series. Do not use brick liner accessory in
any other fireplace models.
The Brick Liner Kit contains the following:
1 - Rear Firebrick Panel 2 - Retainer Brackets
1 - Left Firebrick Panel 2 - Screws
1 - Right Firebrick Panel
If any of these parts are missing or damaged, contact dealer where you
purchased this kit. If they cannot supply original replacement parts,
call DESA International’s Parts Department at 1-800-972-7879 for
information.
WARNING: Turn off, unplug, and let fireplace cool
before installing brick liner. Only a qualified service
person should service and repair fireplace.
NOTICE: You must remove logs before installing
brick liner.
1. Remove the upper louver panel by lifting upward and out (see
Figure 1).
2. Remove the screws from the three tabs at the top of the glass
door. Hold the door securely to keep it from falling forward.
3. Grasp door by both sides and ease it upward off of the lower
bracket. Carefully set aside.
4. Remove ember material and set aside.
5. Remove lava rock from the firebox and set aside.
6. Remove the logs one at a time and set aside. Handle logs with
care.

7. Install rear brick panel first. Rest bottom edge of panel on back
edge of grate (see Figure 3).

8. Loosely secure retainer brackets to grate using screws provided.
Brackets will hold rear panel in place.
9. Install left side brick panel by sliding it between the grate and
the side of the firebox (see Figure 4).
CAUTION: Always handle firebrick panels with
two hands. Do not force firebrick panels into place.
Excessive force will break firebrick panels.
10. Slide the left retainer bracket against the left side brick panel.
Tighten the bracket screw. This secures both the left side and
rear brick panels.
11. Install the right brick panel using the same method described
in step 9.
12. Slide the right retainer bracket against the right side brick panel.
Tighten the bracket screw. This secures both the right side and
rear brick panels.
13. Replace the logs, lava rocks and glowing embers by following
the instructions in Installing Logs, Lava Rock and Glowing
Embers section of the fireplace owner’s manual.
14. Replace glass door assembly by carefully placing it on the lower
bracket above the lower louver. Carefully secure the door by
replacing the three screws.
15. Replace the top louver panel.
