Before first use
When you use the appliance for the first time, it might emit
some smoke, a harmless odor and a small amount of particles.
This does not affect the function of the appliance and does
not last long.
To remove production-related residues from the heating and
water circulation system, fill the water tank 0 with water and
run the steam function until the water tank 0 is approximately
half empty (see section Operation).
Hold the appliance over a sink or similar. The production resi-
dues are flushed out of the pipes.
Then activate the steam function again and use on an old
rag to check if there are still residues coming out of the steam
outlet openings.
If there are no more residues, the appliance is ready for oper-
ation. If particles are still visible on the rag, repeat the process
above.

Mix the tap water with distilled water in accordance with the
following table for optimal performance.
SDMF 1200 A1

Never use water that contains additives (e.g. starch, perfumes,
softening agents) or condensation (e.g. from dryers, refrigera-
tors, air conditioning units or rain). They may contain organic
or mineral residues that accumulate when exposed to heat
and can cause noise, brown discoloration and premature
failure of the appliance.
Remove the power plug from the power socket if connected.
Remove the water tank 0 from the appliance by pressing the
release buttons 7 on the left and right side and then pulling
the water tank 0 straight out of the appliance (Fig. A).
