Avaya B159 is an analog conference telephone developed by Konftel that uses OmniSound® technology to provide crystal-clear sound for all participants. It is intended for medium-to-large conference rooms or other environments like auditoriums. This file is the Readme for the Generally Available Avaya analog conference telephones B159 Release 1.23 and B149
Release 1.16. This file describes the contents of the Release, but since this is the initial release, no comparison is made
with earlier releases.
OVERVIEW
The B159 and B149 are analog conference telephones, developed by Konftel (wholly owned by Avaya, Inc.), and uses
OmniSound® technology to provide full-duplex, crystal-clear sound for all participants. This technology includes noise
suppression and equalizer functionality to avoid clipping, minimize background noise, and in general provide a superior
conferencing experience. Of course, optimal performance is obtained in environments free of acoustic interference.
The B149 is intended for small-to-medium conference rooms, and provides standard telephony functionality as well as
providing the following enhanced features:
- Users can record calls with a Secure Digital (SD) card. The SD card is not included as part of the standard package
- The telephone offers a Phone Book of up to 50 user-entered names and up to 20 Conference Groups of up to 6 names
each.
Note: the B149 ships from the factory with Release 1.16, and hence no software release is provided on the Avaya Support
website.
The B159 is intended for medium-to-large conference rooms or other such environments (e.g. auditoriums), and provides
standard telephony functionality as well as providing the following enhanced features:
- The telephone can interface to Public Address (PA) systems
- The telephone can serve as a 2-way speaker when cable-connected to Mobile (DECT) telephones, or to a PC for Voice
over IP calls
- Users can record calls with an SD card that is included as part of the standard package.
- The telephone offers a Phone Book of up to 50 user-entered names and up to 20 Conference Groups of up to 6 names
each.
- A wireless headset adapter interface is supported.
Note: the B159 ships from the factory with Release 1.23, and hence no software release is provided on the Avaya Support
website.

The B159 and B149 telephones are supported on the following call servers:

CM Release 5.0 and later Alias telephone as 2500 set
CS1000 6.0 and later
IP Office 7.0 and later
KNOWN CONSIDERATIONS AND LIMITATIONS OF B149 RELEASE 1.16
- The telephone may alert with the same ring tone regardless of what Distinctive Audible Alert setting is administered.
- For Caller ID, the telephone supports Single Data Message Format (SDMF), which provides only the caller’s number,
not the name.
- The telephone only supports SD cards up to 2GB; SDHC (High Capacity) cards are not supported. The SD card file
system has to be FAT 16 (also simply called FAT) or FAT 32.
