In this document, the person being lied is referred to as the paent and the person helping is referred to as the caregiver.
Product Descripon
The MulStraps are specially developed for versale applica
ons in healthcare. The MulStraps are used for liing and
holding parts of the paents body to facilitate examinaon,
care and treatment. The MulStraps can also be used for
turning a paent in bed and supporng the paent in a lateral
position. Instead of performing these tasks manually, the
nursing sta should use the MulStraps together with a li
and thereby potenally avoid heavy and harmful strains.
Suitable applicaon areas are for:
 Treatment of wounds, e.g. burns
 Hygiene
 Treatment, e.g. catheterizaon
 Examinaon
 Posioning of bedpan
 Dressing/Undressing
 Turning sideways.
The MulStraps can be used alone or in pairs, e.g. for liing
both legs of the paent during catheterizaon.
The MultiStraps are available in different models/widths.
The narrower MulStraps are oen easier to place and give
beer access to a larger skin area. Choose a wider MulStrap
for larger support area and pressure distribuon.
The MulStraps are available in two materials, polyester and
nonwoven, both with pressureequalizing reinforced pads.
The polyester design is durable and userfriendly. The non
woven design is intended for shortterm use and should be
discarded when the product is soiled or when the paent no
longer needs it.
For more informaon about Solo MulStrap in nonwoven
fabric, please contact your HillRom representave.
The MulStraps can be used together with Liko’s mobile or
overhead lis.
The MulStraps are not intended for liing and moving a
paent from one locaon to another. For these applicaons
we recommend liing with one of the Liko slings available in
many models.
IMPORTANT!
Liing and transferring a paent always involves a certain level of risk. Read the instrucons for use for both the paent
li and liing accessories before use. It is important to completely understand the contents of the instrucons for use.
The equipment should only be used by trained personnel. Ensure that the liing accessories are suitable for the li used.
Exercise care and cauon during use. As a caregiver, you are always responsible for the paents safety. You must be aware
of the paent’s ability to make it through the liing situaon. If something is unclear, contact the manufacturer or supplier.

Before liing, keep the following points in mind:
Choose the MulStrap best suited to the task at hand.
Pay aenon to any skin sensivity, pressure sensivity or pain in those places where the the MulStraps are to be applied.
Ensure that the paent has the joint mobility necessary to passively li body parts with the MulStraps.
Before liing limb, plan the liing operaon to make it as safe and convenient as possible.
Although the Liko sling bars are equipped with safety latches, special cauon must be exercised. Before the limb is lied
from the bed, but aer the straps are fully extended, make sure the strap loops are properly aached to the sling bar.
Never leave a paent unaended during a liing situaon.
The wheels of the bed must be locked during a liing/transfer operaon; this is especially important when turning paents.
Use bed rails during the turning operaon; this is especially important when only one caregiver is performing the task.
Plan the liing operaon so that it can be done as safely and smoothly as possible.
Always work ergonomically.

Applicaon
NOTE: The MulStrap can also be applied using HandySheet, which is recommended for heavy paents or when you
need to be extra gentle with the paent. For more informaon please contact your Hill-Rom representave.
Work out the strap loop from
the opposite side and pull
the MulStrap forward so
that the body part is placed
in the middle of the strap.
Aach the strap loops to the
sling bar. Use the small strap
loop if the liing height is
insucient.
The MulStrap can also be
inserted where there is most
space, e.g. under the knees,
and then carefully be pulled
into place under the paent.
This can be made easier
by alternavely pulling the
MulStrap from side to side
unl it is in desired place,
e.g. under the buocks.
Apply the MulStrap under the body part which is to be
lied/held. Fold in the strap loop under the MulStrap
and push it in under the paent’s body. Insert your hand
or use the spatula in the MulStrap pocket to facilitate
the applicaon (please see gures above).

Li and Hold
Place the MulStrap under the part of the paents body which is to be lied/held.
Before liing, check that the strap loops are properly aached to the sling bar. Li to desired height.
Removal
Turning Sideways
Turning a paent sideways can be done by a lone caregiver, but we recommend two assisng each other. This is a meeecve
and smooth way of operang. Use the bed rails, in parcular if just one caregiver performs the turning.
Fold in the strap loop under the MulStrap (Fig. 5). Work out and grasp the strap loop and remove the MulStrap carefully
(Fig. 6).
The MulStrap can also be pulled out carefully where there is extra space, e.g. under the knees.
For extra gentle removal, use HandySheet. For more informaon please contact your Hill-Rom representave.
Example
The sling bar with 2point suspension is recommended for liing/holding as per the above examples.
One MulStrap (Fig. 3) or two MulStraps (Fig. 1) can be used.
When turning a paent sideways, we recommend a sling bar with a 2-point suspension.

Fig. 3. Li/Hold arm Fig. 4. Li/Hold buocks
Fig. 1. Li/Hold a leg with
two MulStraps
Fig. 5. Fig. 6.
Use two MulStraps; place one under the shoulders and
the other under the hips. If necessary, the strap loops can
be aached to a suitable place on the bed using FixStraps
(see pos. 1, page 4). This holds the MulStraps in place
during turning.
Prepare the operaon by placing the paent so that the
turning is facilitated; one arm out to the side and one leg over
the other. Li in such a manner that the paent is turned
sideways by means of the li. Do not li so high that there is
a risk of the paent pping over. Adjust the paent’s posion
so that it is comfortable.
Do not li too high!
