For Safety Installation
1. Read the following carefully prior to installation.
CAUTION!
Do not install outdoors.
Avoid intense shock or vibration.
Avoid intense electrical or electromagnetic noise.
Avoid magnetic material.
Avoid corrosive gas and dust.
Avoid direct exposure to sunlight and intense light.
Do not install in the areas where sudden temperature fluctuation is expected.
Avoid vapor or high humidity that can cause condensation.
Install within 2.5 - 6.0m (8 - 20ft.) height from floor.
Install and set up the unit so that intruders will cross field of view.
Avoid partitions, furniture and glass within coverage.
Catch performance is based on the temperature difference between a moving object and a stable background.
The greater the difference, the longer the actual range.
2. Read the following prior to installation and regular maintenance.
WARNING!
Do not wire the unit when it thunders.
Do not disassemble or modify the unit.
Power must be cut off during wiring.
Keep power between 9 - 28 VDC at all times.
ATTENTION!
Avoid intense shock and vibration.
After installation and setup, perform walk test in the protection area to check if alarm is activated. Mirrors, partitions
and walls with high reflectance may detect temperature difference beyond the specified range.
Make sure no objects will block the detector's field of view.
Use curtains and blind in case the detector is exposed to sunlight and intense light.
Do not install near fax machine, heater and air conditioner as they may cause heat fluctuation.
3. Remarks
Moving objects in the gap of detection zones cannot be detected.
Static objects including human body cannot be detected.
This unit is designed to detect infrared energy variations caused by the movement of human body.
Similar variations in the specified range may cause the detector to activate an alarm. In case the temperature
difference between the moving human body and the stable background is very small, the detector may not detect
the movement.

If more than one detector is added to the loop, the maximum length per gauge decreases and is determined by
dividing the length found in the chart by the number of detectors on the loop.
Use wire of ø0.8 or less. For long distance, use wire with increased number of wicks.

1 Unscrew the lock screw and turn the body unit
counterclockwise to detach from the base unit.
2 Firmly mount the base unit on ceiling with the mounting
screws provided, and route wiring as necessary to the
rear of the base and through the wiring hole.
3 Determine initial setup. Please refer to "6. Initial Setup" for details.
4 Determine coverage. Please refer to "8. Coverage Setup" for details.
5 Align direction of both arrows then match Mark A (or V-shaped protrusion A) of the body unit with Mark B of the base unit.
Then turn the body unit clockwise to fix it in a Lock Position (Mark C).
6 Screw the lock screw to fix the body unit on the base unit.
Refer to "11. Coverage" on page 6 to install the unit so that the expected movement of an intruder will be across
the field of view.

Functions
1. Pulse Count The unit triggers an alarm with the number of pulses selected.
Selection: Choose the number of pulse count with dip switch 2.
Functions: The unit counts pulses, in an interval of 10 seconds or less, and it triggers an alarm when the count
reaches the number of pulses set. The counts is reset 10 seconds later after the last pulse.
Usually 1-3 pulses are counted when human body crosses one zone. However, only 1 pulse may
be counted where temperature difference between human body and the stable background is
small.
2. Self Diagnosis Automatically detects malfunction of the unit.
Selection: This function is active at all times regardless of switch settings.
Functions: If the Alarm LED continues to blink after the one (1) minute warm-up period, a malfunction with
either the pyro sensor or the amplifier has been detected and the unit needs to be replaced. In this
fault condition the alarm output will be operated.
Switch 1 Alarm LED
ON : Alarm LED lights when the unit triggers an alarm.
OFF : Alarm LED never lights.
Regardless of switch settings, Alarm LED blinks during
warm-up period (1 min.) and Self Diagnosis.
Switch 2 Pulse Counts
The unit triggers an alarm when the pulse counts
detected, in 10 seconds interval, reach the number of
pulses selected. The count is reset 10 seconds after the
last pulses.
ON : 1 pulse
OFF : 2 pulses

Walk Test
1. Make sure the dip switch 1 is ON.
2. Wait for 1 minute after power is turned on (LED blinks for warm-up).
3. Conduct walk test across the coverage pattern. Observe the Alarm LED while walking across the coverage.
It will light as you enter the detection area.
4. In case Alarm LED does not light, adjust the coverage and pulse count settings.
Repeat the above steps until Alarm LED lights.
8
Coverage Setup
This unit allows for 360 degree coverage mounting three (3) 120 degree optical assemblies. You can adjust the mirrors either
simultaneously or independently.
Adjusting plate
Rod
Area number
V-shaped protrusion
Arrow and area number
Align the rod to C position
for 4 meter height and 8
meter coverage.
1. SIMULTANEOUS SETUP
Rotate the adjusting plate to align V-shaped protrusion with the desired mounting height. In this case, coverage of 20
meters in diameter is achieved.
2. INDEPENDENT SETUP
1 Rotate the adjusting plate clockwise until V-shaped protrusion reaches "Free" position. Each mirror is then adjustable
independently.
2 Determine the rod position from the desired Mounting Height & Max. Range shown on the adjusting plate.
NOTE: Arrows and their area numbers are indicated on the label of the base unit. Each arrow is centered in each coverage
of 120 degrees and its number stands for each one of three (3) areas. The same numbers are also marked on the
adjusting plate of the sensor unit to match each other when fixed together.
In order to rotate the adjusting plate counterclockwise from "Free" position, all rods must be placed at the center
ends.

Problem
The unit does not detect or red LED
does not light.
The units detects only occasionally.
False Alarm
Red LED lights with no alarm output
LED blinks (once per second)
sending alarm output.
Possible Cause
Blocked by partitions or other objects.
Dip switch 1 is OFF.
Intruders (moving objects) do not cross
field of view.
Installed too close to electrical noise or
wired too close to the power or power
line.
Sudden temperature fluctuation.
Direct sunlight or intense headlight.
Fax or other electronic machines are
within coverage.
Controller is not armed.
Disconnection, poor connection, short or
poor insulation of the wire.
Alarm output is connected in parallel with
other outputs of the unit.
Self-diagnosis is active due to the
malfunction of the unit
Remedy
Remove the blocking objects.
Readjust coverage.
Turn the switch ON.
Readjust coverage so that intruders can
cross the field of view.
Relocate the unit.
Change the wiring route.
Remove heat source.
Readjust coverage.
Readjust coverage
Block the light with blinds.
Readjust coverage.
Arm the controller.
Check with a tester, and then fasten
terminal screws securely.
Wire in series with other outputs.
Use only one unit in one loop.
Replace the unit.

Maintenance
Regular Maintenance
- Wipe off dirt with soft moist cloth. Use soap as necessary. Do not use paint thinner or alcohol.
- Approximately once a week, the range and coverage should be checked in accordance with the section on "9. Walk Test".
If furniture and/or partition are moved in the coverage area, Walk Test should be conducted.
- At least once a year, the whole system should be checked. The user also needs to check the followings to confirm if the
unit works properly:
Power supply and Current Draw
Alarm (if output resistance is normal)
Tamper (if output resistance is normal)
<NOTE>
This unit is designed to detect movement of an intruder and activate an alarm control panel. Being only a part of a complete
system, we cannot accept responsibility for any damages or other consequences resulting from an intrusion.
