1 Scope of this Quick Start Guide
This Quick Start Guide provides basic setup and configuration of the
Envision X14 C-Phy/D-Phy CSI/DSI Analyzer/Generator with Probe
Assembly and the Video Protocol Suite (VPS) GUI application used to
manage it.
1.1 Introducing the Envision X14
The following features and functions are supported on the Envision X14.
1.2 Topics Covered in this Quick Start Guide
The following high level tasks are described in this Quick Start Guide:
Set up procedures.
Provisioning the IP address of the Envision X14.
Installing the Envision X14 VPS GUI on a PC.
Establishing an IP session between an Envision X14 and the
host PC running the VPS GUI.
Connecting the MIPI D-Phy CSI-2 or DSI-2 device under test to
the Envision X14 either through the solder-down probes or via
connectors.
This Quick Start Guide includes descriptive or procedural information for
any of the video test functions of the Envision X14 applications
themselves. Procedures for the functional applications are covered in
the Envision X14 User Guide. The User Guide is available from the
product page on the Teledyne Lecroy website: Teledyne LeCroy -
quantumdata Envision X14 Video Analyzer/Generator.
Note: Please be sure to check the Teledyne LeCroy website (Teledyne
LeCroy - quantumdata Envision X14 Video Analyzer/Generator) for
updates to this Quick Start Guide & User Guides.
1.3 About the Envision X14
The Envision X14 is a compact feature-rich test instrument for testing D-
PHY CSI-2, DSI-2 sources for analysis. (Support for C-Phy and the

2 About the VPS GUI Application
The Envision X14 can be operated either through the embedded GUI
running on the Envision X14 or through an external GUI hosted on a PC.
The GUI is the Video Protocol Suite (VPS). When using the embedded
VPS GUI you will need an external display connected to an HDMI port
on the rear of the unit. When using the external VPS GUI, the external
VPS application has to be installed on the PC and there is an Ethernet
connection either directly to the Envsion X14 or through a corporate
network. These operational scenarios are shown in the following images.
Alternatively you can use VNC from your PC to connect the embedded
VPS application (not depicted below).

4 Managing the Envision X14 with VPS GUI
from a PC
The Envision X14 can be operated from the VPS GUI application
installed on a host Windows PC. The VPS GUI application will have to
be downloaded and installed on your Windows PC and you will need to
connect your PC to the Envision X14 over an Ethernet IP connection.
This chapter provides instruction for installing the VPS GUI, followed by
how to set the time and date.
4.1 Install the External Envision X14 Video Protocol
Suite (VPS) GUI Application
This procedure describes how to install the VPS GUI application on your
host PC.
1. On your PC, download the VPS Remote GUI Application from the
Teledyne Lecroy downloads page: Teledyne LeCroy - quantumdata
Envision X14 Video Analyzer/Generator.
2. Once the download is complete, click on the Video Protocol Suite
(VPS) GUI link and follow the installation prompts.

Page 12 December 28, 2023
3. After installation completes, run the new VPS application. It should
be available in the Start Menu under All Programs
VideoProtocolSuite, and from an icon on your PC desktop.
Note: Verify that the version number in the title bar matches the
version on the website.
4. Connect your PC to the Envision X14 using an Ethernet cable. The
connection is made to the Rj45 port on the rear panel of the
Envision X14 labeled E1 to Network as shown below.
The Ethernet IP connection from the host PC to the Envision X14
can be accomplished by connecting directly or through your
corporate network. If you are connected through the network you
can use DHCP and the Envision X14 will be assigned a suitable IP
address. If you are making a direction connection, you will have to
ensure that the Envision X14 has an IP address compatible with
your PC. Both scenarios are depicted in the following images.

Note: Be sure to use an IP address that is compatible with your
corporate LAN or your PC if you are connecting directly.
7. The instrument will automatically power cycle upon applying
changes to the Network Settings.
Note: If using DHCP for IP address assignment, check for the resulting
IP address at the bottom left of the embedded GUI after rebooting, as
shown below.
