Step 1—Remove parts from the factory rear bumper
*IMPORTANT NOTES*
REMOVE THE FACTORY BUMPER AND SAVE THE HARDWARE. REMOVAL OF FACTORY SPARE TIRE IS NOT REQUIRED
The factory Rubicon rails do not work with our bumper. They will need to be removed before the bumper can be placed.
Our JT rear sliders can be installed before or aer the bumper is in place. It is easier to put them on before the bumper is installed because
it will slide over the exhaust. If the bumper is already installed, they will have to drop the exhaust to install the drivers side.
Remove the wiring harness from the factory bumper. This includes the sensors, lights, and reflectors. Do not discard these parts, they will be
reused. Keep the factory hardware. If light tabs are broken during dis-assembly, do not fear! The light tabs will no be re-used.
Step 2—Pre-assemble parts
Step 3
Step 4
Each bumper comes with some aluminum tabs to hold
each sensor into place.
Assemble the bolt with the head on the reflector side
with a plastic washer, and then hand tighten the nut on
the other side.
Pre-install 2 bolts with plastic washer and nyloc nuts
total per reflector.
The 3rd bolt hole will use a black bolt and nut in a
later step.
Trim the plastic + down to about 1/4using a razor or
sharp knife. Do NOT completely remove this tab. It
is used to hold the reflector position during install.
ONLY REMOVE A SMALL 1/4PIECE.

Step 5
Set the bumper on a table. Install the reectors into their posions.
Hook the square bolt head into the square groove with the washer be-
tween the reector and the powder coang. Tighten down the nuts
most of the way but leave a bit of wiggle in the reector housing at this
Step 6
With the reector in place, mount the single bolt tab
with the bump facing down between the reector
housing on the OUTSIDE posion of the bumper. Run
the supplied black bolt through the bumper face,
through the tab hole, through the reector hole, and
install a nylock nut. Do NOT ghten down yet.
Step 7
The outside sensors have a 90 degree connector fac-
ing up. Install the provided bezels (metal rings) into
the sensor hole, then mount the appropriate sensor
into the posion with the sensor plug facing the in-
side of the bumper.
With the sensor in place, ghten the bolt and nuts
holding the bracket and reector. Adjust the bushing
unl the sensor is snug and held rm. Repeat the
install process on the opposite side.
5 5/14/2020
Step 8
Step 9
Install the license plate lights into the provided
stainless steel housings by sliding them over the
housings as shown to the right.
Install the stainless steel bracket into the appropri-
ate posion using the supplied plasc push rivets.
Line up the holes on the bracket with the holes on
the bumper, and push the plasc push rivets into
place.
The housings provide pressure to hold the light in
place. If the holes do not line up, bend the bracket
and bend it VERY SLIGHTLY to allow those holes to
line up.
Install the inner sensor into the open
hole above the license plate light.
Install the inner sensor into the hole
using the supplied bezel. This sensor
will have a straight plug.
Use the double hole bracket with the
rubber bumper installed and use two
more plasc push rivets to hold the
bracket in place. This bracket should
apply a good amount of pressure to
hold the sensor in place. If the bracket
is too loose, bend it SLIGHTLY more
open unl the sensor doesnt move
Repeat this process of installing brack-
ets and reectors on the opposite side
of the bumper.
6 5/14/2020
Step 10
Step 11
With all the reectors, brack-
ets, and sensors now in-
stalled, run the harness along
the backside of the bumper
and plug in your wiring to the
sensors and light plug.
Secure the wiring harness
using zip es to the backside
of the bumper.
Mount the license plate bracket back to the
new bumper with the hardware provided.
Double check that the bolts are ght.
Check that your sensors are secure.
Check that wiring is secured.
Once you have checked everything a 2nd
me, it is now me to mount the bumper
to the jeep.
7 5/14/2020
Step 12—Mounting the bumper
Step 13
Slide the provide spacer plates over the tow hook and let it
hang.
On models that have TWO rear two hooks, use the spacer
plates on each side.
If your model only has ONE tow hook, use the provided solid
spacer with the Rock Slide logo to ll the gap on the opposite
side. You may have to use tape to hold the spacer in place
while you mount the bumper.
Secure the spacers using the supplied 3/8”-16
black bolts and ange nut. It is recommend to
hold the bolt in place and ghten the nut so the
head of the bolt does not break the powder-
coang.
With the spacers in place, slide the bumper onto
the back of the jeep and use the factory bolts to
secure the bumper to the back of the jeep so it
doesnt fall. Once these bolts are installed most
the of the way, you can let the bumper hang while
you work on the other bolts. The bumper will not
fall aer this point.
**If your bumper does not include this license
plate bracket, use the supplied spacers at the end
of the install to mount your license plate (See Step
20)
Step 14
8 5/14/2020
Step 15
Step 16
Use supplied hardware to mount the
trailer brake plug bracket onto the
hitch. Slide the bracket under the hitch
and use the open bolt holes to secure
the bracket to the hitch, one bolt on
each side of the hitch.
Once the bracket is mounted and se-
cure, slide the trailer plug back into the
mount and plug the electrical back into
the back of the trailer plug.
Step 17
Use the supplied brackets and mount the wings onto the inside of the bump-
er using the long factory bolts that were removed. The at part of the plate
will be facing the rear of the vehicle to allow access to the bolt holes. The
open face will face towards the front of the vehicle. Tighten the factory
bolts down once you install the last black buon head bolt on the outside of
the bumper.
9 5/14/2020
Step 18
Step 19
With the wing supports installed, mount
on the underside 5/16” -18 bolts
through the bumper to the wings that
you just previously installed inside the
ends of the bumper.
Double check bolts are ght.
Tighten the bolts on between the license
plate brackets that were hand ghtened
previously.
Step 20
If your bumper does not come equipped
with the license plate mount, use the alu-
minum spacers in the posion shown to
mount your license plate.
