Vibration Hazard
This appliance vibrates during use.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR
PUTTING INTO USE

TO PREVENT
SERIOUS INJURY
FROM ACCIDENTAL
OPERATION:
Turn the Power Switch of the
tool to its “OFF” position and
unplug the tool from its
electrical outlet before
assembling or making any
adjustments to the tool.
Note: For additional information regarding
the parts listed in the following pages,
refer to the Assembly Diagram near
the end of this manual.
Charging Battery Pack
Charge Battery Pack (25) only with 1.
the 18V charger provided. See Fig-
ure A, below. Charge indoors only.
Insert Battery Pack into Charger 2.
Stand (46). Plug Charger (47) into
appropriate AC 120V, 60 Hz power
outlet. The red LED light on Charger
Stand will activate, indicating battery
is charging.
The initial charging time is 4-6 hours, 3.
after which the Battery Pack should
be removed. Please note: When
fully charged, the green LED light will

activate while the Red LED light will
remain lit.
After each subsequent use, 3 hours 4.
of charging time is need for Battery
Pack to be full charged. However,
the Battery Pack can be left to charge
for 4-6 hours to ensure longer run-
ning time for Blower.
If the Battery Pack delivers an abnor-5.
mal performance, discharge batteries
by holding Trigger (28) down in “ON”
position until fan slows. Do not com-
pletely discharge batteries. Remove
Battery Pack from tool, allow it to
cool, and charge for 4-6 hours, mak-
ing sure not to exceed charging time.
When not charging, unplug Charger 6.
from outlet and store in secure loca-
tion.
Installing Blade Guard
WARNING! 1. The Guard (9) is tted
with a sharp Blade (8) for line trim-
ming. Make sure Blade Cover (7) is in
place before tting Guard onto Trim-
mer housing. See Figure B, below.
To install Guard, slide over Spool 2.
Cover (1). See Figure B, above.
Align tab on Guard with groove on 3.
Motor Block (12) and slide together,
making sure Nylon Line (2a) is not
trapped under Guard.
When properly aligned, two screw 4.
holes on Guard will t over two holes
on Motor Block.
Fasten together using Screws (10) 5.
and Flat Washers (11).
Please Note:6. Be sure to remove
Blade Cover before using.
Assembling Main Housing
Slide the Secondary Handle (44) onto 1.
the tted Upper Housing sections (23,
38). Continue sliding until it reaches
a comfortable position for you.
Tighten Secondary Handle in place 2.
by twisting Secondary Handle Knob
(43) until tight.
Take the Upper Housing and insert 3.
onto Aluminum Tube (40) that ex-
tends out from the Lower Housing
sections (18, 42)
Continue to push down on Upper 4.
Housing until it snaps into place.
To adjust the height of Trimmer, set 5.
the end of Trimmer onto the ground.
Loosen the Knob (41) until the Alumi-6.
num Tube can be adjusted.
Once proper height is reached, tight-7.

Once the Guard is installed and the 8.

Battery Pack and slide Battery into
slot at top of Upper Housing. See

Tool Set Up
TO PREVENT
SERIOUS INJURY
FROM ACCIDENTAL
OPERATION:
Make sure Trigger is in the
“OFF” position and unplug
and remove Battery Pack
before performing any
inspection, maintenance, or
cleaning procedures.
Designate a work area that is clean 1.
and well-lit. The work area must not
allow access by children or pets to
prevent injury and distraction.
There must not be hazardous ob-2.
jects, such as utility lines or foreign
objects, nearby that will present a
hazard while working.
Before use, carefully remove the 3.
Blade Cover (7) from the Blade (8).
General Operating Instructions
To activate Trimmer, depress the 1.
Lock Button (31). Then press the
Trigger (28).
For effective cutting, swing Trimmer 2.
gently from side to side while walking
forward.
3. Keep hands and feet away
from cutting area.
4. Keep hands away from
blade.
WARNING!5. Make sure cutting line is
in front of you and that the Guard (9)
is in place.
Make sure the Trimmer stays at a 6.
30° angle to achieve best trimming
results.
When cutting longer grass, take sev-7.
eral small cuts.
Please Note:8. The Trimmer is
equipped with an auto-feed mecha-
nism for the Line Spool (2) and Nylon
Line (2a).
To activate the auto-feed, lightly 9.
bump the line feed button at the
bottom of the Line Spool on a rm
surface. This will feed-out the Ny-
lon Line until the Blade cuts the line,
adjusting it to the correct length. See
Figure C, below.
To switch off Trimmer, release the 10.
Trigger and press the Lock Button to
prevent accidental starting.
Replacing Line Spool
Before replacing Line Spool (2), 1.
remove Battery Pack from Trimmer
and make sure the Blade Cover is in
place.

Grip Spool Cover (1) rmly and 2.
squeeze the two tabs on the Spool
Cover.
Pull Spool Cover off Line Spool and 3.
then pull Line Spool from housing.
Make sure the Spool Spring (3) stays
connected to housing. See Figure D,
below.
When replacing Spool, clean any dirt, 4.
dead grass and debris from Spool
Cover.
Thread end of cutting line from re-5.
placement spool through eyelet on
Spool Cover.
Push replacement Spool rmly onto 6.
Housing and over Spool Spring.
Fit Spool Cover over replacement 7.
spool and push down until it snaps
into place. Verify that Spool Cover is
held securely in place by the tabs.
Once new spool is in place, remove 8.
Blade Cover. Activate the Trimmer
and then the auto-feed mechanism,
which will adjust for the correct cut-
ting length.
Please Note: 9. If Nylon Line breaks
while inside Spool Cover, the auto-
feed function will not work and Nylon
Line will need to be re-adjusted by
hand.
To replace broken nylon line, rst 10.
follow previous steps 1-3. You will
notice a plastic band is tted around
the Line Spool to contain the Nylon
Line.
Press down on plastic band and 11.
squeeze it off of Line Spool. See
Figure E, below.
Recover the end of the Nylon Line 12.
and thread it through one of the two
slots on the plastic band.
Slide the plastic band over the Line 13.
Spool, making sure not to cut the
Nylon Line.
Thread the end of cutting line through 14.
eyelet on Spool Cover.
Follow previous steps 6-7 to replace 15.

equipment. If abnormal noise
or vibration occurs, have the
problem corrected before
further use.
Cleaning, Maintenance, and
Lubrication
BEFORE EACH USE,1. inspect the
general condition of the tool. Check
for loose screws, misalignment or
binding of moving parts, cracked or
broken parts, and any other condition
that may affect its safe operation.
AFTER USE,2. clean external surfaces
of the tool with clean cloth. Use a
brush (not included) to remove grass
and other debris from Guard.
Use soap and moist cloth to clean 3.
Trimmer. Do NOT use solvents or
clean/rinse with a jet of water. Make
sure no water enters Trimmer.
The batteries contained in the Battery 4.
Pack are nickel-cadmium (Ni-CD).
Do not dispose of Ni-CD batteries in
household waste.
Follow all local regulations regarding 5.
the proper disposal of Ni-CD batter-
ies.
6. WARNING! If the Charger cord
is damaged, it must be replaced
only by a qualied service techni-
cian.
