Installation Instructions
MHS and U-Type® 1C-ITC Retrot Setup Instructions
Physically lock out and tag the conveyor at the power source
before you begin cleaner installation.
1. Aer locking out and tagging out the conveyor, close regulator
valves to relieve blade pressure and drop cleaner away from
belt. A ratchet strap may be needed to compress the cylinders
to fully remove the air pressure, which should back the cleaner
down from the belt.
2. Remove blade by removing crossholder retaining pin and locking ring
on both sides (do not discard). NOTE: ese blades can be extremely
heavy, so use caution when removing. en pull the crossholder arm
o the knuckle on both sides (in some cases you may have to knock the
crossholder o the knuckles). Once the blade and both crossholders are
out of the knuckles on both sides, clean the entire knuckle o.
3. Loosen lock nuts and bolts on Flexco mounting arms and slide
arms onto each side of the Flexco cleaner pole. en insert
arms into knuckles and replace crossholder retaining pin and
locking ring.
4. Rotate the tips upright and snug (do not fully tighten) the
locking bolts on the Flexco mounting arms.
WARNING: V-TIPS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BLADE AND/OR THE BELT
IF USED ON A BELT WITH MECHANICAL FASTENERS OR RIP REPAIRS.
V-Tips are designed for use on vulcanized belts only.
Verify the tips on the cleaner you are about to install are compatible with the belt
and replace V-tips with C-tips (impact-resistant carbide) if needed.

5. Raise the cleaner up so that the tips are about 1”
(25mm) below the belt. Depending on how the
cleaner was set up originally, you may have to
loosen the clutch nut from torque arm and turn
actuator tube (using the large nut) until tips are
1” (25mm) from belt, then retighten clutch nut.
Ensure the cleaner is level across the full belt width.
6. Loosen the lock nuts on the mounting arm and
rotate the pole until perpendicular to the belt.
Center the blade(s) to the belt, then snug mounting
arm bolts on both sides to hold pole in place.
7. Remove straps from cylinders and very slowly apply
pressure so tips come up to belt and lightly touch.
Readjust tips to the proper angle for the cleaner type
(Fig. 6) and then tighten down mounting arm bolts
all the way.
8. See a Flexco HD Specialist or contact Flexco Grand
Rapids BCP Engineering for recommended air
pressure. Please measure and be ready to provide
the four measurements on back page.
9. Once the pressure is set, ensure the blade angle
is still correct.
Pre-Op Checklist:
Recheck that all fasteners are tightened properly.
Check the blade location on the belt.
Be sure that all installation materials and tools have been removed from the belt and the conveyor area.
Test Run the Conveyor:
Run the conveyor for at least 15 minutes and inspect the cleaning performance.
Make adjustments as necessary.
NOTE: Observing the cleaner when it is running and performing properly will help detect problems or
needed adjustments later.
