inside the circle, meaning that you should not disassemble.
A black circle (Q) with a picture inside alerts you to something you MUST
do. This example shows that you MUST unplug the power cord.
ii
WARNING
When designing systems such as medicine management system that
could affect people's lives, take potential dangers into serious
consideration and make redundancy systems and safety engineering
which render those dangers even if data is entered incorrectly.
If abnormal phenomenon such as smoke, abnormal odors and noises
occur, immediately pull out the connector of the QK11-U from computer
etc. devices, and contact dealer to solve.
It could cause a fire or electric shock if continuing to use in such a case.
If foreign material or water gets into the QK11-U, immediately pull out
the connector of the QK11-U from computer etc. devices, and contact
dealer to solve.
It could cause a fire or electric shock if continuing to use in such a case.
If you drop the QK11-U on the ground, cause it unable to use or its
housing to be damaged during use. Please pull out connector of the
QK11-U from computer etc. devices, and contact dealer to solve.
Never bring any metals into contact with the output terminals.
Doing so could produce a large current through the QK11-U resulting in

QK11-U USB Driver Installation
This scanner can communicate with PC via the USB-COM interface.
Install the USB device driver contained in the provided CD-ROM for communications via
USB-COM interface: You can also download the newest version of this driver from
DENSO WAVE website:
http://www.denso-wave.com/
The downloaded, compressed file contains the driver and uninstaller. Store the file in the
desired folder, and double-click the file icon: The file can then be self-extracted.
Connect the scanner interface cable to the USB port of PC: “Add New Hardware
Wizard” will automatically start. Set up the USB device driver according to the wizard
screen.
The next and subsequent pages will show the procedures for setting up the driver on
each OS: Windows 98SE, Me, 2000 or XP.
Cautions when connecting USB cable
It will take five to ten seconds for PC to recognize USB-COM device:
Therefore, wait for ten seconds or more to disconnect or connect USB-COM
connector again after the connector is connected or disconnected.
USB connector can be connected or disconnected even when the power of PC is ON.
However, do not connect or disconnect USB connector when PC is in the standby
(suspended) mode.
Do not connect or disconnect any other USB devices while processing connection of
our USB device.
If USB cable is disconnected during communication, not only will data be lost but the
system may be affected. Therefore, do not disconnect USB cable during
communication.
Directly connect QK11-U to USB port of PC or self-power hub. If it cannot be
connected to hub (depending on type of hub) and operation is not stable, connect it
directly to USB port of PC.
Cautions when installing USB device driver
If the DENSO WAVE USB-COM driver has not yet been installed, do not connect
QK11-U to USB port of PC when turning PC on: Since installation of USB driver starts
during startup of Windows, the installation will not proceed properly.
If you are already using our USB-COM products with our USB-COM driver, the
USB-COM driver installed can be used for QK11-U, and new installation is not
necessary.
If you want to install a new driver, use the designated uninstaller to uninstall the
previously installed driver.
3
When installing the driver, be sure to specify the folder in which the driver
corresponding to your Windows version has been installed. If the driver for a different
version has been installed, use the Folder Options window to choose “Show all files”
or “Do not show hidden files and folders”, and then perform the following.
- If the driver for Windows
®
2000/XP has been installed in Windows
®
98SE/Me PC:
(1) Open Device Manager and delete DENSO WAVE USB-COM Port with
attached.
(2) If these files are in the following folders, delete them:
C:\Windows\Inf\Other\ DENSO WAVEdwcom.inf
C:\Windows\Inf\ Dwcom.inf,Dwcom.pnf,
Dwcom9x.inf,Dwcom9.pnf,
Dwport.inf,Dwport.pnf
C:\Windows\System\ Dwport.vxd
C:\Windows\Sytem32\drivers\ Dwport.sys
(3) Restart the PC.
- If the driver for Windows
®
98/98SE/Me has been installed in Windows
®
2000/XP
PC.
(1) Open Device Manager and delete USB Device QK11-U.
(2) Delete the Oem*.inf file that has the same contents as Dwcom9x.inf from
C:\Winnt\Inf folder. (To search for the file, use Notepad to open Dwcom9x.inf
on CD, and copy the character string in the first row. Then open the
C:\Winnt\Inf folder, use the “Search” window to paste the character string on
the “A word or phrase in the file” column, and then click the Search button.)
(3) Delete Oem*.pnf from the above folder (* is the same number as that of the
above deleted file).
(4) If these files are in the following folders, delete them.
C:\Winn\Inf\ Dwcom.inf,Dwcom.pnf,
Dwcom9x.inf,Dwcom9.pnf,
Dwport.inf,Dwport.pnf
C:\Windows\System\ Dwport.vxd
C:\Windows\Sytem32\drivers\ Dwcom9x.sys
Note: With Windows
®
XP, C:\Windows\ appears instead of C:\Winnt\.
(5) Restart the PC.
After performing the above, install the driver again.
Be sure to store the driver for Windows
®
98SE/Me (dwcom9x.ini, dwcom9x.sys,
dwport.ini, dwport.vxd) and the driver for Windows
®
2000/XP (dwcom.ini, dwcom.sys)
in different folders. (Do not uncompress the driver for Windows
®
98SE/Me and the
driver for Windows
®
2000/XP in the same folder.)
If our USB-COM driver cannot be installed, a similar USB-COM driver has possibly
been used. In this case, delete the corresponding USB-COM driver from device
manager and then perform installation. However, before deleting, make sure that the
corresponding USB driver is not used for other devices.
4
Installation procedure
Follow the procedure shown below and install the driver in attached CD-ROM.
The provided CD-ROM contains a driver for Windows
®
98SE/Me, a driver for
Windows
®
2000/XP, and a designated uninstaller that can be used for all Windows
®
