Mains Supply: The mains operating voltage of this unit
is marked on a rating plate on the AC adapter.
The means of disconnecting this appliance from
the mains supply is the mains plug. This should be
unobstructed and readily operable at all times.
Refer all servicing to qualied service personnel.
Servicing is required when the apparatus has been
damaged in any way, such as the power-supply cord
or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects
have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been

PRELIMINARIES INTRODUCTION
UNPACKING
Carefully unpack the unit. If it is damaged, please
return it to your nearest Tesco store for replacement.
Remember to take your purchase receipt with you.
Retain the User Handbook. If you pass the unit on to a
third party make sure you pass on the handbook.
We suggest you retain the packaging. If you dispose of
it, do so having regard to any recycling regulations in
your area.

The TSB17 Mini Soundbar is a versatile speaker unit
with Bluetooth connectivity and both digital and
analogue audio inputs for audio-visual sources.
Recommended sound sources include -
Play music from your mobile phone, tablet or •
notebook computer via Bluetooth.
Connect digital sources such as TV, satellite receiver •
or DVD player via the OPTICAL digital input.
Connect an analogue audio source such as TV, •
DVD player, satellite receiver, computer or personal
audio player to the AUX Input.
The unit is operated by the supplied remote control or
via the touchpads on the control panel.
LOCATION
LOCATION
Place the unit on dry stable surface away from heat
and damp and where it is unlikely to fall or be knocked
over. Check that connecting cables are tucked away
and will not cause a risk of tripping etc.
If you are using your Soundbar for TV sound, place it
centrally under, or above the TV screen.
CAUTION: This Soundbar is not intended to be a TV
stand. Do Not stand a TV on it.

CONNECTING A DIGITAL AUDIO SOURCE
Your Soundbar is compatible with optical digital
sources. Always use this connection where possible for
the best quality. Compatible sources may include
TVs,
satellite receivers and DVD players. Some computers also
have digital outputs.
Before connecting your source, check that it has the
correct Optical outlet.
NOTE: If the source features Home Cinema surround-
sound, you should set the digital output to two channel
stereo. This is usually an option in the setup menu.
To connect to the OPTICAL input you will need an
optical bre interconnect (not supplied).
Connect the optical interconnect to the OPTICAL •
input jack of your Soundbar.
Connect the other end of the interconnect to the •
Optical outlet of your source.

To connect a computer or portable audio player:
You will need a jack to jack connecting cable (supplied)
terminated with a 3.5mm plug at each end.
Connect the cable to the AUX IN input jack.•
Connect the jack plug at the other end of the cable •
to the headphone jack of your computer or portable
audio player.
Set the player to play and turn up the player •
volume.
Volume level can now be set from the Soundbar.•

CONNECTING A COMPUTER OR PORTABLE AUDIO PLAYER
CONNECTING TO TV LINE OUT JACKS
Analogue line out sources may include -
Audio from a TV. •
Audio from a satellite receiver or DVD player.•
You will need to buy an audio cable terminated with
connections to match your source at one end and a
3.5mm stereo jack to match your soundbar at the other
end.
To connect a TV line out etc to the analogue input:
Connect the 3.5mm jack to the AUX IN socket.•
Connect the other end of the cable to the output •
jack(s) of your source. If they are dual colour coded
plugs, the white plug connects to the left channel,
the red plug connects to the right channel.

BEFORE FIRST USE
To prepare the remote control for
rst use, pull out the safety strip to
activate the battery.
REPLACING THE BATTERY
When replacing the battery in the remote
control, refer to the diagram below.
Press the catch across.1.
While holding the catch, open the 2.
battery door.
Dispose of used batteries with regard to the recycling regulations in your area. Do NOT
short circuit batteries or throw them into water, the general rubbish or in a re.
Weak batteries can leak and damage the remote control. Replace them in good time!

OPERATION
POWER CONTROL

If you plan to leave the Soundbar unattended for long
periods (for example, holidays), switch o the mains
power by disconnecting the AC adapter from the mains.
Auto Standby
The Soundbar will set to Standby automatically if
standing idle for 120 minutes with no signal. This is an
energy saving feature.
CONNECTING POWER
Before connecting the Soundbar to mains power, check
that the mains supply voltage in your area is within the
range specied on the rating label on the AC adapter.
Plug the DC cable from the AC adapter into the DC •
IN jack on the back panel.
Plug the AC adapter into the wall socket and switch •
the mains power on.
VOLUME CONTROL
NOTE: When playing a source connected to the AUX IN
jack it will be necessary to set the volume on the source
to around 50%. The volume level may then be set from
the Soundbar.
Press •
or to increase or reduce the volume
level from the Soundbar.
To mute the volume:

on the remote control (or touch on the
front panel) to mute the sound.
The sound will mute and the selected source indicator
will ash slowly.
Press again to restore the volume level to its •
original setting.
SELECTING A SOURCE

IN or Optical source.
The Source indicator will light to conrm the source
selected.
Set the source to play. If the source has a volume •
control (for example, a personal audio player), this
may need to be turned up.

Touch • SOURCE repeatedly to switch between
sources.
The Source indicator will light to conrm the source
selected.
FRONT PANEL CONTROLS
The instructions in this handbook always refer to
remote control button functions.
In addition, some controls are duplicated on the top
panel for convenient operation when close to the unit.
Where the top panel controls are named dierently
this will be indicated in the text of the handbook.
Touch controls
The top panel controls for volume, mute, source, mode
and pairing are touch pads. Touch the control name to
select a function.

OPERATION
PLAYING A BLUETOOTH SOURCE
Before playing from a Bluetooth source, it will be
necessary to pair the source to your Soundbar.
Pairing with a Bluetooth device
Switch on the Soundbar.•
Select the • Bluetooth source.
If no device has been paired to the Soundbar, the
Bluetooth source indicator will ash.
Activate • Bluetooth communication on the source.
If the source is a phone, Bluetooth communication will
normally be activated in the connectivity section of the
settings menu.
If the source is a computer, Bluetooth settings should be
found in the Control Panel.
In the • Bluetooth menu of the source, there should
be an option to search for Bluetooth devices. Select
this option.
The source will now scan for other Bluetooth devices
and should nd the unit, identied as ‘TSB17’.
Choose to pair with this.•
If the device features Bluetooth technology earlier than
V2.1, you will be asked for a password.
If so, enter 0000.•
Your Bluetooth source will now be connected to the
Soundbar.
EQUALISATION
Your Speaker Bar includes four sound equalisation
modes, optimised for dierent types of programme
content.
Changing the equalisation setting
Press • EQ repeatedly to step through the available
equalisation mode options.
These are -
Game mode (•
indicator).
Music (•
indicator).
Movie (•
indicator).
Normal, no equalisation (all indicators o).•
The Bluetooth source indicator will stop ashing when
paired.
After pairing for the rst time, the Soundbar will appear
in the connection menu of your Bluetooth device.
Re-connecting
Your device and the Soundbar should re-connect when
next used if no other device is connected.
Disconnecting a Bluetooth source
To disconnect the Bluetooth source that is currently
paired to your soundbar -
Touch and hold • PAIR.
The Bluetooth source will be disconnected.
The Bluetooth source indicator will ash.
You can now pair a dierent device to the Soundbar.
Playback control of a Bluetooth source
Some Bluetooth sources support remote control of
playback control functions. If this is the case, you will
be able to control the source from the Soundbar remote
control.
NOTE: Some sources may not support some or all of the
functions listed.
Press the • /, button to switch between play and
pause modes.
Press the • } or { button to select the next or
previous track.

CARE AND CLEANING
All care and cleaning operations should be carried out
with the unit unplugged from the mains power.
The surface of the unit can be cleaned with a dry
cloth. Never use abrasives, abrasive cloths or chemical
solvents .
Loudspeaker grilles can be cleaned carefully with a soft
brush.

WARRANTY
SPECIFICATIONS
Your Tesco appliance is covered by a warranty for 12
months from the date of purchase. If a fault develops
during this period, please contact the TESCO electrical
help line. Please have your original purchase receipt
with you when you call. This warranty in no way aects
your consumer rights.
TROUBLESHOOTING
No sound
Check that the Soundbar is not set to Standby.•
Check that the correct input is selected.•
No sound/low volume (computer or personal audio
player connected to the AUX IN input)
If the source has a volume control, check that this •
is turned up.
No sound (digital audio source)
Check that the sample rate of the source is in the •
correct range for the Soundbar.
No remote control operation
The batteries may be at. Try replacing the •
batteries.
The Soundbar sets to Standby when idle
The Soundbar will set to Standby automatically if
standing idle for 120 minutes with no signal. This is
normal and an energy saving feature. Press the
button to switch on and continue using the Soundbar.
NOTE: the auto-standby function may be enabled if
the volume of audio sources is set too low. To prevent
the soundbar entering the standby mode during use,
ensure the input device volume is more than 50%.
Volume can be adjusted on the soundbar or the remote
control.
