PROXIMITY energy saving reader
Paxton
Connect the reader to the Switch 2 as per instruction Ins-30119 and power up the Switch 2.
The controller will beep at 3 times per second to indicate that it requires enrolling.
To set the system in toggle mode, present the relay toggle card to the reader.
The control unit will beep twice and the GREEN and AMBER LEDs will go out.
The RED LED will remain lit.
1. Wiring the system
Remove the Enrolment card from the card pack and present it to the reader.

The above diagram shows the Switch2 and energy saving reader congured to control a room light.
This could be used in a meeting room to ensure that the lights are off when the room is not occupied.
NOTE: AC Mains voltage must NOT be directly connected to the controller.
The kit supplied here demonstrates these principles.
When a user card is placed in the reader, the relay output will change state and the GREEN LED will come on by
itself. When the card is removed again the relay state will change back and the RED LED will illuminate.

Relay toggle card
Swipe or present this card to change the action
of the output relay from a time interval to toggle.
A valid card will now close the relay contacts.
They stay closed until another valid card is swiped
or presented.
The Switch 2 controller must be used in toggle mode and provides a set of normally open or normally closed relay
contacts to control the attached hardware. This means that the relay will stay turned on for as long as a user card
remains in the reader.
