2 DESCRIPTION
The nVent RAYCHEM NRG-Temp thermostat is a
smart thermostat designed for electrical
underfloor
heating. It is designed to give you the best possible
comfort with the least energy consumption. The NRG-
Temp is equipped with an ambient sensor and a floor
sensor, it can monitor and control your underfloor
heating in 3 different modes (Room sensing mode /
floor sensing mode / Room sensing mode with floor
limiter) depending on your needs.
The NRG-Temp will switch on
/
off your underfloor
heating in order to obtain the set-temperature.
When the NRG-Temp is switching on the electrical
underfloor heating, the symbol (
) will show on
display.
The NRG-Temp is a Programmable Timer Thermostat
with 4 preset programmes (see
Table
1).

Temperature
With nobody present in the room,
it would be a waste of energy to
heat up the floor. In the EcoH or

3 MOUNTING AND INSTALLATION
3.1 MOUNTING THE THERMOSTAT
NRG-Temp is intended for flush mounting in a
standard 65 mm wall box. It should be positioned
approximately 1.5 Metres above the floor, protected
from direct sunlight and draughts. All electrical
conduits passing into the wall box that contain
cables must also be sealed to protect the thermostat
against draughts, e.g. with a piece of insulation in
the conduit outlet.
±1,5 m
Figure 3
If the NRG-Temp is mounted in a wall with a rough
surface, e.g. bricks, use silicon glue to make a seal
between the wall and the thermostat frame.
Note: The NRG-Temp can also be mounted on a wall
with a wall box.
Assembly frame and front of thermostat can be
removed by pushing gently with a screw driver
on the two fasteners located on each side of the
thermostat (see Figure 4).
nVent.com | 9
Figure 4
3.2 MOUNTING THE FLOOR SENSOR
The floor sensor should be installed in a separate
flexible conduit for easy replacement and in order
to avoid signal disturbance resulting in a possible
malfunction of the thermostat. For best control
performance, position the floor sensor between two
heating cables as close as possible to the top floor
surface.
Do not position the floor sensor tip closer than 3 cm
to the heating cable.
500 mm

Remark: The floor sensor cable can be extended to
100 m with a separate standard installation cable
2 x 1.5 mm

For the earth connection of the underfloor heating,
you must use the PE terminal on the thermostat or a
separate earth terminal connection bloc.
3.4 PRODUCT SPECIFIC INFORMATION
3.4.1 NRG-TEMP IN COMBINATION WITH
NVENT RAYCHEM T2QUICKNET
HEATING MAT
T2QuickNet heating mats are approved with the
NRG-Temp thermostat working in floor sensor mode.
Be aware that the floor sensor must be installed and
activated for any installation with T2QuickNet.
3.4.2 NRG-TEMP WITH THE NVENT RAYCHEM
T2RED (T2REFLECTA) SELF-REGULATING
CABLE
Self-regulating heating cables have an inrush current
at start up. In order to guarantee the life time of the
thermostat, the maximum load of the self-regulating
application in nominal conditions is limited to 10A.
A 13A self-regulating load will reduce the life time of
the thermostat. Maximum circuit length for T2Red is
100 meter.

4 GETTING STARTED
When you switch on the NRG-Temp for the first time,
the NRG-Temp will propose the Comfort programme
(Co flashing on the screen).

Remark: If you want to use the thermostat in one of
the Timer Programmes, you will have to set up the
time and day first. The NRG-Temp thermostat will
prompt you automatically for setting the time and
day (see 6.5)
Note: If there is no floor sensor attached to the
NRG-Temp, the thermostat will start in room sensing
mode. During the first 2,1hours, the thermostat will
perform the self-calibration. It is still possible to
operate the thermostat normally during 30 minutes
and after this, the screen will display the letters CAL
from calibration.
