Attachment of cables
to motor
1. Locate mounting position for shift cable retainer (item 1) on starboard
side of engine. Small screw hole should be upward (see figure 1).
1. Install shift clamp insert (item 4) into shift casing guide (item 5) with
small hole for cable core wire aligned with long axis (see figure 2).
2. Hold Insert in position and feed core wire through Insert. The core
wire must pass fully through the insert and bottom in casing guide
(see figure 3).
3. Holding assembly in place, thread one clamp screw (item 6) into
clamp insert until it touches core wire, then add one more full turn.
This kinks the core wire and helps prevent wire from pulling free.
Thread second clamp screw (item 6) into opposite end of insert until
it touches core wire, then add one more full turn: do not overtighten
screws. Excessive torque may break core wire.
4. Install throttle connection kit (item 7) according to instructions
supplied in that kit.
1. Install adjustment nut of shift cable into shift cable retainer as shown
in figure 4.
NOTE
Shift cable retainer is shown. Throttle cable retainer is similar in
appearance, but is designed for use on opposite side.
2. Insert one retainer screw (item 2) through upper hole in retainer and
thread fully into engine.
3. Repeat on opposite side of engine, using throttle cable retainer
(item 3) and other retainer screw (item 2).

2. Insert shift connector stud into keyhole in shift lever and rotate 1/4
turn to lock position.

3. Install adjustment nut of throttle cable into throttle cable retainer as
shown in figure 4.
Connect throttle casing guide to throttle lever according to
instructions furnished with throttle connection kit.
Cable travel
adjustment
1. Cable travel may be adjusted by rotating cable adjustment nut in the
appropriate direction (see figure 3).
Do not attempt to adjust cable travel by moving the casing guide on
the core wire.
CAUTION!
Before operating boat, recheck all hardware for security and re-torque
as necessary. The boat should be operated with caution until the
engine control system has been thoroughly checked out under normal
operating conditions to ensure that the installation is correct and
functioning properly.
