< 1 > Lubrication
Apply Makita grease N. No.1 to the following portions marked with black triangle to protect
parts and product from unusual abrasion.
< 2 > Assembling and disassembling
( 1 ) Disassembling armature and straight bevel gear 14.v
1. Detach grinding wheel by unscrewing lock nut. And then, remove inner flange and wheel cover. See Fig. 1.
Gear housing
Apply 10g of N Makita grease
into gear housing.
2. Take of brush holder cap and carbon brush from motor housing. See Fig. 1.
3. Separate gear housing from motor housing by unscrewing 4 pcs. of pan head screws M4x16. Pull out armature
from motor housing. See Fig. 1.
4. Holding armature body firmly with your hand, unscrew hex nut M6 with wrench 10. Then, straight bevel gear 14
can be separated from armature. See Fig. 2.
5. Disassemble ball bearing 6000ZZ with No. 1R269 "Bearing Extractor (small)". Then armature can be separated
together with flat washer 9, from bearing retainer 69. See Fig. 2.

( 2 ) Assembling armature and straight bevel gear 14.
1. Assemble bearing retainer 69 to armature. See Fig. 3.
2. Assemble flat washer 9. See Fig. 3.
3. Assemble ball bearing 6000ZZ by pressing with arbor press. See Fig. 3.
4. Fasten straight bevel gear 14 to armature with hex nut M6. See Fig. 3.
( 3 ) Disassembling straight bevel gear 35.
1. After removing lock nut, grinding wheel, inner flange and wheel cover, unscrew 4 pcs. of pan head screws
M4x16. Then, gear section can be separated from gear housing.
2. Holding the flat portion of spindle with vice, unscrew hex nut M10. Then, straight bevel gear 35 can be
disassembled from spindle. In this process, no need to use arbor press for disassembling spindle.
