INSTALLATION
WARNING: Disconnect the Total Access 4303 Chassis from power before installing the BNC Module.
CAUTION: The Total Access 4303 BNC Module is intended for intra-building wiring only.
■ Connect the module to the I/O Module connectors located on the backplane of the Total Access 4303 unit. For Slots 1 and 2,
use the I/O Module connectors at the top of the backplane, labeled J1 and J2. For Slots 3 and 4, use the I/O Module
connectors at the bottom of the backplane, labeled J3 and J4. Refer to the above figure for a diagram of installed BNC Modules.
■ The installed BNC Module provides two dual BNC Female connectors. Continue the installation by connecting the
appropriate cables to the Total Access 4303.
■ Once powered, the SCU will automatically activate the BNC Module using the current module switch settings. No further
configuration is necessary to activate the interfaces.
■ Once installed, use the terminal menus to configure and control the DS3 or STS-1 modules (see the SCU Job Aid,
61200334L1-22).
■ Use the arrow keys on your VT100 terminal keyboard to move to the Modules menu; press Enter in the Menu column of the
appropriate module.

■ For single mode operation use BNC pair “A” for Slots 1 and 3 and BNC pair “B” for Slots 2 and 4.
■ For the Total Access 4303 to function properly in DS3 or STS-1 redundant mode, only BNC pair “A” may be used.
