Main Features
UDP UPDATER Main Feature Introduction
Suitable for rmware update of SOYAL devices via COM port or via TCP/IP connection.
After installing SoyalToolSetup, UDP UPDATER shortcut will be automatically
created. Double click to run UDP UPDATER
(Note: If your computer has running 701 Server software, you need to close 701Server before running this
software to avoid communication port being occupied)
Another method to run UDP UPDATER, on your computer > Start > Soyal Software
folder > click to run UDP UPDATER
After installing SoyalToolSetup , run UDP UPDATER software
Applicable Models:
(1)Enterprise Series(E Series) Controller (only support updating via AR-321CM or
through TCPIP directly)
(2) 16 Doors Networking Control Panel AR-716-E16
(3) Modbus Gateway (TCP-RTU) TCP to Wiegand Converter Built-in I/O
AR-727-CM-IO-0804M
(4) Serial-to-Ethernet Server with I/O Module AR-401-IO-0808R

3-1 UDP UPDATER Operation Precaution

STEP 1 : LCD Access Controller press "#" then controller will show Node ID
STEP 2 : Keypad Access Controller
If you use RS-485 communication, you need to confirm the Node ID of the controller you
want to operate. If you don’t know the Node ID of the controller, you can refer to the following
operations:
If Node ID is unknown but programming code is known, reset the Node ID by
command 00*NNN#
Step by Step:
Enter programming mode > enter command 00*
If you want to change the Node ID of the controller into 1(default Node ID) for example, enter default
programming code *123456# then press 00*001# (set as Node ID 1)
If both Node ID and programming code is unknown, reset the controller by
pressing RESET button Node ID will restore as Node ID 1
When controller is connected to power supply, press "RESET" button until controller blinking its red
LED then release it. The controller will also restart afterward.
Note: by pressing the RESET button, all controller parameter setting will be restore into default value.

STEP 1 : Select the COM Port that connected device to the computer, and enter Node
ID (default Node ID 1)
STEP 2 : Select Device model number
STEP 3 : Press Load F/W
STEP 4 : Select rmware le
Note: unmatched rmware le could cause error when operating the controller after rmware
update, please make sure the rmware is matched with device model no.
STEP 5 : Select Open
STEP 6 : Select Update F/W
STEP 7 : Update rmware status will show on the progress bar. When it shows
'CONTROLLER Programming Completed!' indicated Update Firmware has
been successfully.
It is suggested to press RESET button after rmware update.

3. Software Operation
STEP 1 : Select PC's Network Adapter that is under the same Subnet as device's IP address. example:
PC Net Adapter is 192.168.1.82, controller's IP address is 192.168.1.174
STEP 2 : Enter Device IP Address, Port remain as default value '1604', enter Device Node ID
STEP 3 : Select Device model number
STEP 4 : Press Load F/W
STEP 5 : Select rmware le
Note: Unmatched rmware le could cause error when operating the device after rmware update,
please make sure the rmware is matched with device model no.
STEP 6 : Select Open
STEP 7 : Select Update F/W
STEP 8 : Update rmware status will show on the progress bar. When it shows 'CONTROLLER
Programming Completed!' indicated Update Firmware has been successfully.
It is suggested to press RESET button after rmware update.

Note: Image must be two colors (not black & white)
(Only for Enterprise Series Controller with LCD display)

STEP 6 : Select Update Image to change LCD Display Image
STEP 7 : Changing LCD Display Image status will show on the progress bar. When it
shows ‘Programming: 100% done.' indicated Update Image has been
successfully done.
STEP 8 : Restart controller to show the new LCD Display Image
STEP 1 : Select PC's Network Adapter that is under the same Subnet as device's IP address.
example: PC Net Adapter is 192.168.1.82, controller's IP address is 192.168.1.174
STEP 2 : Enter Device IP Address, Port remain as default value '1604', enter Device Node ID
STEP 3 : Press Range Scan
STEP 4 : Press Range Scan
STEP 5 : Progress Bar will show in sequence the IP address of the range scan, and once it is
done the progress bar will show 'Scan Completed'
STEP 6 : Search result will show SOYAL devices in the intranet based on the IP Range Scan:
display the device’s IP location, MAC location, and device rmware version. Device that
is not showed have a possibilities of disconnection to the network.

3-6 Change IP Address of SOYAL Devices Under the Same Network
3. Software Operation
STEP 1 : Select PC's Network Adapter that is under the same Subnet as device's
IP address. example: PC Net Adapter is 192.168.1.82, controller's IP address
is 192.168.1.174
STEP 2 : Enter the New IP Address of the device, New Netmask, and New Gateway.
Next step is to press the Change IP button.
STEP 3 : The IP setting eld will change to the specied IP Address
STEP 4 : Progress Bar will display 'UPDATE SUCCESSED and Reboot Device!'
indicated setting has been changed and restart the devices.
