Operatethemachineupanddownslopeswith
theheavyendofthemachineuphill.Weight
distributionchangeswithattachments.This
attachmentmakesthefrontofmachinetheheavy
end.
Keeptheattachmentintheloweredposition
whenonslopes.Raisingtheattachmentona
slopeaffectsthestabilityofthemachine.
Slopesareamajorfactorrelatedtolossofcontrol
andtip-overaccidents,whichcanresultinsevere
injuryordeath.Operatingthemachineonany
slopeoruneventerrainrequiresextracaution.
Establishyourownproceduresandrulesfor
operatingonslopes.Theseproceduresmust
includesurveyingthesitetodeterminewhich
slopesaresafeformachineoperation.Always
usecommonsenseandgoodjudgmentwhen
performingthissurvey.
Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Ground
conditionscanaffectthestabilityofthemachine.

RefertotheOperatorsManualforthetractionunitfor
theinstallationandremovalprocedure.
Important:Beforeinstallingtheattachment,
positionthemachineonalevelsurface,ensure
thatthemountplatesarefreeofanydirtordebris,
andensurethatthepinsrotatefreely.Ifthepins
donotrotatefreely,greasethem.
Note:Alwaysusethetractionunittoliftandmove
theattachment.Tomoveanaugerwithoutthedrive
head,slingastrapovereachendoftheaugerand
hoistittothedesiredlocation.
WARNING
Ifyoudonotfullyseatthequick-attach
pinsthroughtheattachmentmountplate,
theattachmentcouldfalloffthemachine,
crushingyouorbystanders.
Ensurethatthequick-attachpinsarefully
seatedintheattachmentmountplate.
WARNING
Hydraulicuidescapingunderpressurecan
penetrateskinandcauseinjury.Fluidinjected
intotheskinmustbesurgicallyremoved
withinafewhoursbyadoctorfamiliarwith
thisformofinjury;otherwise,gangrenemay
result.
Ensurethatallhydraulic-uidhoses
andlinesareingoodconditionandall
hydraulicconnectionsandttingsaretight
beforeapplyingpressuretothehydraulic
system.
Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrom
pinholeleaksornozzlesthateject
high-pressurehydraulicuid.
Usecardboardorpapertondhydraulic
leaks;neveruseyourhands.
CAUTION
Hydrauliccouplers,hydrauliclines/valves,
andhydraulicuidmaybehot.Ifyoucontact
hotcomponents,youmaybeburned.
Weargloveswhenoperatingthehydraulic
couplers.
Allowthemachinetocoolbeforetouching

pinchedandseverelyinjuredoramputatedif
theyarecaughtbetweenthecradlearmsand
theswingingdrivehead.
Keepyourhandsandngersawayfromthe
cradlearms.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
loaderarms,andengagetheparkingbrake(if
applicable).
2.IfyouareinstallinganaugerontheModel22806
drivehead,shutofftheengineandremovethe
key.Positionthedriveheadvertically,slidea
bolt(1/2x2-1/2inches)intotheholesinthe
frontcradlearms,andsecureitlightlywitha
angenut(1/2inch)asshowninFigure4.

3.Ifyourtractionunithasaspeed-selectorlever,
moveittotheSLOWposition.
4.Ifyourtractionunithasaow-dividercontrol,
moveittothe10o'clockposition.
5.Pulltheauxiliaryhydraulicslevertotheoperator
griporreferencebartobegindigging.
6.Lowertheaugerslowlyasthesoilisloosened.
Asyoudigdeeper,movethetractionunit
backwardorforwardasrequiredtokeepthe
augervertical(Figure10).

Engagetheaugerdrivetospinoffthesoil,then
resumedigging.
Important:Switchingtheauxiliary

DANGER
IfyouareusingModel22806,excessive
downwardforcemaycausethebittowobble
uncontrollably,whichcouldtipthetraction
unit.Youorbystanderscouldbepinnedor
seriouslyinjured.
Donotuseexcessivedownwardpressureon
thebit.Allowthebittopullitselfintothesoil.
RemovinganAuger
1.Disengagetheauxiliaryhydraulics.
2.Raisetheloaderarmssotheaugercomesout
ofthehole.
Note:Ifyouhavea24-inchextensioninstalled
betweenthedriveheadandtheauger,itmaybe
necessarytoraisetheaugerashighaspossible
andthenmovethetractionunitbackwardtopull
theaugertherestofthewayoutofthehole.
3.Drivethemachinetothestoragelocationfor
theauger.
4.Whileloweringthearms,driveslowlybackwards
untiltheaugerishorizontal.
5.Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
6.Removetheboltandnutsecuringthedrivehead
totheaugerorextension.
7.Starttheengineandbackthetractionunitaway
fromtheauger.
8.Ifyouusedanextension,removetheboltand
nutsecuringitandpullitofftheauger.

1.Raisetheaugersothatitclearstheground
