Bit tray
Tool change box for bits and blades
6159290250
Features
• 6 tool seats per module
Flashing LED at the respective seat signalizes which tool is to be removed
• Up to 5 modules can be cascaded
• Modules can simply be inserted together
• 24V technology
• Control variants
Parallel binary or parallel BCD Serial connection (Posco-500) requires only
2 digital outputs and 1 digital input from the Posco-IO port.
No additional terminal box is required with
the Posco-500
• Changeable 1/4" hexagon seat.
Optional:
Seats up to 7/16 possible

Product Information
Dimensions: 166mm x 94mm x 53mm (L x W x H)
The tool change box bit tray is triggered by 24V signals from the IO interface of a screwdriver
control unit or by the POSCO-500.
Triggering is either via binary or BCD-coded signals
6 inputs and 6 outputs.
Or as a serial coded signal (only possible with POSCO-500, requires only 2 outputs, 1 input from
Posco-500).
The change box can be used in two operating modes:
PROGRAM SELECTION MODE
Here a program number to match the tool shaft removed is always transmitted to the screwdriver
control unit.
PRE-SELECTION MODE
Here tool pre-selection is given via the change box inputs and a message is sent via output signal
as to whether the current removal situation complies with this pre-selection.
Every seat has an LED assigned to it which always signalizes an empty shaft by lighting up
continuously and a tool to be removed by a flashing display.
CONFIGURATION
The bit tray is configured for the respective interface and coding method via the 4-fold DIP switch
accessible at the side.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
6 tool shafts are designed per module. The modules can be cascaded.
A maximum of 5 modules can be inserted together (corresponding to 30 tools).
During operation, no more than one tool at a time may be removed from the whole chain of the tool
change boxes (maximum of one tool shaft may be empty).
Each tool shaft contains one Hall sensor which can be used to detect the state "tool removed" or
"tool present".
In addition, there is an LED assigned to each shaft which visualises the state detected by the CPU
for the respective shaft.
SELECTION MODE
In selection mode, only the outputs of the bit tray are used.
As soon as a tool has been removed, the number of the respective tool is outputted on the parallel
interface in the set format (binary/BCD).
If no tool or more than one tool is removed, a 0 is outputted.
PRE-SELECTION MODE
In pre-selection mode the bit tray receives the number of the required tool shaft via the control
interface (parallel or serial).
The tool shaft can have the following states:
1. Tool is not to be removed, tool shaft is occupied. LED off.
2. Tool is not to be removed, tool shaft is empty. LED on (continuous light).
3. Tool is to be removed, tool shaft is occupied. LED flashes.
4. Tool is to be removed, tool shaft is empty. LED on (continuous light).
5. Tool is to be removed, tool shaft is empty but at least one further tool shaft is also empty.

Product Information
In this case, the LEDs of the tool shafts not selected are lit continuously, the LED of the tool shaft
selected flashes.
In the parallel mode, a 0 is returned to the output line for as long as necessary until the actual
removal situation corresponds to the pre-selection.
When the removal situation corresponds to the pre-selection, the bit tray outputs the pre-selection
to the outputs again. A pre-selection of 5 thus produces the value 5 at the outputs, the coding of the
output signals corresponds to the coding of the pre-selection signals (binary/BCD).
SIGNAL ASSIGNMENT BIT TRAY INTERFACE
In the serial mode (Posco-500) only the signals to pins 11 (input clock), pin 12 (input data) and pin
22 (output data) are required.
When the bit tray is used with a Posco-500, all the other I/O ports on the 25-pole port strip can be
used, only the three signals mentioned (pins 11, 12 and 22) are already occupied by the bit tray and
can thus no longer be used on the output side.
