Introduction
The procedure described in this document is a verication of performance and not a
calibration. Calibration requires complex equipment to conduct measurements which due
to the nature of the site survey equipment is not required. The verication will conrm
continued performance of the survey kit such that it is suitable for continued use without the
cost of formal calibration.
There are two sections outlined within this document:
Section 1 - General maintenance (pages 3 to 4)
Section 2 - Two yearly maintenance (pages 5 to 6)

Specied batteries
When replacing batteries; observe correct polarity, using only specied batteries shown
below.
Note: Fitting of an incorrect battery type invalidates the product certication and may result
in poor performance.
Signal Surveyor: 1 x 6V 4Ah Lead Acid battery
(Yuasa NP4-6)
Pole Mounted Survey Tool: 4x AA Alkaline batteries
(Panasonic LR6AD Powerline / Varta 4006 Industrial)

Charge the Signal Surveyor
Charge the Signal Surveyor (with the
left-hand side power switch o). The
units ‘POWER/CHARGE’ LED will
illuminate amber whilst charging and
will extinguish once fully charged.
Replace the battery if it does not
fully charge within 24 hours. See
the ‘Battery specication
section.
Quick range test
Full signal should be achievable at 40m distance in open air.

Switch on both units as shown.
The Pole Mounted Survey Tool will
go into power save mode (screen
o) when not in use.
If however it doesn’t start up,
replace all four batteries. See the
‘Battery specication section.

Two yearly maintenance

Two yearly test
Replace all batteries every two years, observing
correct polarity and using only specied batteries.
See the ‘Specied batteries’ section.

It is recommend that the The Signal Surveyor’s
Mains Charger is routinely checked every two years
for electrical safety, in accordance with any local
codes of practice. I.e. PAT testing in the UK.
