CB Pocket Configurator - 163105
The CB Pocket Configurator instrument is a process calibrator able to generate or measure
the appropriate quantities of an industrial process: voltage values from 0 to 11 V and current
values from 0 to 21 mA. Furthermore, it enables complete programming of the V620 / V622
module.
In addition to this, the instrument displays the values measured or generated with the
MODBUS-RTU protocol.
CB Pocket Configurator can be powered by two NiMh rechargeable batteries, which ensure a
minimum lifetime of 8 hours at full load, or by 220 V mains power, through the power
feeder/battery charger.
By using the menu, you can set the type of operation (Generation or measurement) and signal
(Voltage or Current); you can read, write and modify the configuration of a connected V620 /
V622. You can also select the language (Italian, English, French, German or Spanish) as well
as other parameters such as the automatic switch-off option.
The instrument has two keys for of or from an operating mode, and an
incremental encoder for setting the value of the generated electrical quantities, or moving
among the menu items.
The only two bushes on the front are used both for generation and measurement. Instead, the
jack connector enables communication with a V620 / V622 or acquisition of data from a
supervision system through RS232.

vary the position of the figure being modified (value*1, value*10, value*100, value*1000). The
modification of the position is indicated by an arrow under the figure being examined. Encoder

Standards :
CB Pocket Configurator is an instrument able to:
- Measure voltage in the range 0..11 V.
- Measure voltage in the range 0..21 mA.
- Measure voltage in the range 0..21 mA powering the loop.
- Generate voltage in the range 0..11 V.
- Generate current in the range 0..21 mA.
- Generate current in the range 0..21 mA, powered by the loop . Reading of voltage is
restricted to -0.2 V to +11 V, whereas for current, the ranges are from -0.1 mA to +21 mA.
Linearity is not ensured outside the nominal ranges of 0..20 mA and 0..10 V. The operation of
the instrument is set by the user's selections in the menu.
If a voltage or current value is being read, the value respectively in mA or Volts is shown
directly on the display.
Functioning Logic
Acquisition - Sending of V620 / V622 parameters
At the first start-up, CB Pocket Configurator stores a default configuration in the memory for
the registers of
V620 / V622. The first successful acquisition of parameters from a V620 / V622 module is
automatically saved in the memory, overwriting the default values. In this way you can switch
off the instrument without losing the configuration that had just been read. These parameters
can be read and, if you wish, modified directly with CB Pocket Configurator. When any
modifications have been made, they can be automatically saved in the memory, by overwriting
the previous data. The configuration can be sent to modules V620 / V622. At the end of the
sending procedure turn OFF the first 6 DIP-switches of the SW2 of the connected V620 / V622
module:

the menu items and when scrolling the parameters. For a description of settable
parameters, seeAppendix A.

What you can do with the menu:
-Set the type of operation (Generation or Current) and the type of signal (Voltage or Current).
-Set a configuration for a V620 / V622 module.
-Read the configuration from a V620 / V622 module.

MODBUS REGISTERS
CB Pocket Configurator has MODBUS 16 bits (words) registers, accessible by RS232 serial
communication. This means data can be acquired from a PC or a controller. In the next
paragraphs, we shall describe the supported MODBUS commands, and the functions of the
registers.
Holding Registers
The 16-bit Holding Registers have the following structure:
The Bit notation [x:y] shown in the table indicates all the bits from x to y. For example, Bit
[2:1] indicates bit 2 and bit 1, and illustrates the meaning of the various linked
combinations of the values of the two bits. Remember that the MODBUS 3, 4, 6 and 16
single and multiple reading and writing functions can be executed on the following
registers.
