a) Read the instructions carefully. Understand
the controls and the correct use of the
equipment.
b) You must not operate this machine until
you read the Safety and Operation manual
and are approved to operate the machine.
The Local regulations will set the age of the
operator.
c) Do Not use a mower near persons, children
or animals.
d) Remember that the operator or user is
responsible for accidents or hazards that
occur to other persons or their property.
e) Do not carry passengers.
f) All drivers must get instruction. That
instruction must include:
- A need for careful attention when you use a
“ride-on” class mower.
- The loss of traction on slopes or in a
condition of decreased traction is not
corrected by an application of the brakes.
Reasons for the loss of control.
i) Not enough wheel grip.
ii) Driving at more than the safe speed for the
conditions
iii) You over brake or brake suddenly.
iv) The type of machine is wrong for the job.
v) No attention given to the ground conditions
or operating slopes.
vi) Incorrect hitch and load distribution.
1.2 PREPARATION
a) When you operate the mower, always wear
strong footwear and long trousers. Do not
operate the equipment without the correct
footwear.
b) Inspect the cutting area for any objects in
the area. Remove these objects. These
objects can damage the blades or cause
injury to any person near.
c) WARNING - Diesel and Petrol are
flammable:
- Store in clean applicable metal containers.
- Refuel outdoors only and do not smoke
when you add fuel.
- Refuel the machine before you start the
engine. Do not refuel the engine is hot.

the area. Wait until the fuel vapour is gone.
Keep any supply of ignition at a distance.
- Replace all fuel tank and container caps.
d) Replace any damaged or broken silencers.
e) Visually inspect the machine use. Check
the blades, blade bolts and the deck
assembly for wear or damage. Replace all
the blades in a group to keep the balance.
f) On those machines with many blades, be
careful when you rotate one blade, other
blades can rotate.
1.3 OPERATION
a) Do not operate the engine in a closed
space. The gas Carbon Monoxide is part of
the exhaust gas mix. In a closed space this
gas can reach dangerous levels
b) Use a mower only in daylight or in good
artificial light.
c) Before you start the engine, disengage all
blade attachment clutches and shift into
neutral.
d) Do not use on slopes of more than the
recommended angle.
NOTE The recommended angle is calculated as
shown in BS EN ISO 5395-3:2013 clause

5 ADJUSTMENTS
5.1 GENERAL _____________________________________________________________
1. Only qualified technicians are authorized to make
any adjustment to the machine. If no qualified
technicians are available, contact an authorized
Ransomes Jacobsen Dealer.
2. Replace, do not adjust, worn, or damaged
components.
3. Hair, jewelry or loose fitting clothing can become
held in moving parts.
4. Do not change governor settings or over speed
the engine.
5.2 HEIGHT OF CUT ________________________________________________________
Cutting height is calculated by three adjustments. The
caster wheel mounting, the caster wheel spacers and
the deck hanger pins. Refer to height of cut decal and
the height of cut chart.
Cutting height range is between 0 and 4-3/4 inch. (0
and 121 mm) in 6 mm 1/4-inch steps.
Cutting height can be different from the set height. The
given height of cut depends on the turf condition,
caster tire pressure and other conditions. If you
operate on a rough surface, low cutting heights can
cause “Scalping”. Adjust the height of cut to prevent
turf damage.
1. Park the mower on a flat and level surface. Lift the
deck until the caster wheels are 3-4 in. (75-100
mm) off the ground. Stop the engine and remove
the key. Put stops below the deck so that it is held
safely.
2. Fit the Push-arm pin (A) into indicated hole.
Fasten with hair pin (B). Repeat for the other
Push-arm.
Note: Make sure that the height of cut is set to the
same height on both sides of mower.
3. Remove the hardware (C) and the caster wheel
assemblies (D).
4. Remove pin and ring type pin (E) and spacers
above caster pivot block. Remove the caster
assembly.
5. To set the correct height of cut, fit 1/2 in. (13 mm)
(F) and 1/4 in. (6 mm). (G) spacers to the caster
wheel shaft (H).
6. Fit the caster wheel shaft (G) into caster pivot
blocks (J).
7. Fit the remaining spacers and lock with the pin

To do any adjustment or maintenance to the
mower, you must lower the equipment to the
ground. Disengage all the drives, engage the
parking brake, stop the engine and remove the
key from ignition switch.
Make sure the mower is parked on a solid and
level surface. Never work on a machine that is
held by the jack. Always use correct stands.
If only the rear or the front of the mower is lifted,
put stops in front of and behind the wheels that
are not lifted.
!
CAUTION
Do not try to repair or adjust a running
machine.
!
WARNING
To prevent injury, lower the deck and support on
applicable jack stands. Disengage all the drives,
