Guarantee and Compensation
Barco provides a guarantee relating to perfect man ufacturing as part of the legally stipulated terms of guarantee. O n receipt, the pu rchaser
must immediately inspect all delivered go
ods for damage incurred during transport, a s well as for material and manufacturing faults Barco
must be informed immediately in writing of any complaints.
The period of guarantee begins on the date of transfer of risks, in the case of special systems and software on the date of c omm issioning,
at latest 30 days after the transfer of risks. In the ev ent of justified notice of complaint, Barco can repair the fault or p rovide a replacement
at its own discretion within an appropriate period. If this measure proves to be impossible or unsuccessful, the purchaser can demand a
reduction in the purchase price or c ancellation of the contract. All other claims, in particular those relating to compensation for direct or
indirect damage, and also damage attributed to the operation of s oftware as well as to other services provided by Barco, being a component
of the system or independent service, will be deemed invalid provided the dam age is n ot pro ven to be attributed to the absence of properties
guaranteed in writing or due to the intent or gross negligence or p art of Barco.
If the pur chaser or a third party carries out modifications or repairs on goods delivered by Barco, or if the goods are ha ndled incorrectly,
in particular if t he systems are commissioned operated incorrectly or if, after the transfer of risks, the goods are subject to influences not
agreed upon in the contract, all guarantee claims of the purchaser will be rendered invalid. Not included in the guarantee coverage are

1. SAFETY
About this chapter
Read this chapter attentively. It contains important information to prevent per sonal injury while installing your NX fix ed display.
Furthermore, it includes several cautions to prevent damage to the NX fixed tile. Ensure that you understand and follow all safety
guidelines, safety instructions and warnings mentioned in this chapter before installing the N X fix ed display. A fter this chap ter, addi-
tional “warnings” and “cautions” are given depending on the installation procedure. Read and follow these “warnings” and “cautions”
as well.

1.1 Safety guidelines
Personal protection
WARNING: Ensure you understand and follow all the safety guidelines, safety instructions, warnings and
cautions mentioned in this manual.
WARNING: Be aware of suspended loads.
WARNING: Wear a hard hat to reduce the risk of personal injury.
WARNING: Be careful while working with heavy loads.
WARNING: Mind your fingers while working with heavy loads.
Installation personnel
This installation must be per formed by authorized and qualified technical personnel only.
Accredited safety officers must ensure t
he safety o f the site, construction, assembly, c onnection, use, dismantling, transport etc. of
such safety critical systems.
Notice on safety
This equ ipment is built in accordance with the requirements o f the international safety standards IEC60950-1, E N60950-1,
UL60950-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 N o.60950-1, which are the safety standards of information technology equipment including
electrical business equipmen t. These safety standards impose im portant requirements on the us e of safety critical co mponents,
materials and ins ulation, in order to protect the user or operator against risk of electric shock and energy hazard and ha ving access
to live parts. Safety standards also impose limits to the internal and external tem perature rises, radiation levels, mechanical stability
and strength, enclosure construction an d protection against the risk of fire. Simulated s ingle fault con dition testing ensures the
safety of the equipment to the user even when the e quipment’s normal operation fails.
Caution
Installation should be performed on ly after you are thoroughly familiar with all of the proper safety checks and installation instructions.

1. Safety
Assembly parts are designed for intended use only in conjunction w ith DCP-0X10 LED displays.
Do not m odify and/or replicate any component. B arco uses specific materials and manufacturing processes in order to achieve part
strength. Consult Barco for assistance with custom applications.
Always follow B arco installation instructions. Contact Barco if you should have any question re garding the safety of an application.
The manufacturer assum es no liability for incorrect, inadequate, irresponsible or uns afe assem bly of systems. The system m ust
comply with the local safety regulations regarding environmental conditions, solidity final construction, etc…
Product care
Structural & mounting components should be kept dry, clean, lubricated (only if recomm ended), coated properly, and otherwise
maintained in a manner consistent with part design. Barco produc ts m ust be used in a m anner consistent with their design and
inspected on a ro utine basis for security, wear, deformation, corrosion and any other circumstances that may affect the load handling
capability of the part.
Barco recommends inspections at regular intervals for a ll installations and increasing in frequency for more critical installations. If
a part is found to have damage, w hich may cause a decreas e in load capability, the part must be removed for service or replaced
immediately.
Under no circums tances are Barco parts repairable by anyone other than B arco.
1.2 Important safety instructions
Instructions:
• Read these instructions.
• Keep these instructions.
• Heed all warnings.
• Follow all inst ructions.
• Clean only with materials or chem icals that are inert, nonabrasive, n oncorrosive and non-marking. Consult the manufacturer
for further advice should any doubts exist regarding any cleaning procedure.
• Do not block ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufac
turers ins tructions.
• Do not install near a ny heat so urces such as radiators, heat re gisters, stoves, or other app aratus (including amplifiers) that
produce he at.
• Do not defeat the s afety purpose of the polarized or grounding type plugs/sockets. If the provided sockets/plugs are damaged
then replacement of the defective parts must be undertaken immediately.
• Protect the power/data cords from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point
where t hey exit from the apparatus. Replac e damaged power/data cords im mediately.
• Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
• Disconnect the power to this apparatus during lightning storms or provide suitable additional lightning protection. U nplug this
apparatus when unused for long period of time.
• Refer all servicing to qualified service technicians/personnel. Servicing is required when the appa ratus has been damaged in
any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damage d, the appa ratus d oes not operate norm ally, or has been dropped.
• Use only with systems or p eripherals specified by the m anufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. Use caution during lifting/moving
or transporting to avoid damage by possible tipping.
• Do not use damaged goods . Rep lace damaged parts imm ediately.
1.3 Important warnings
Important warnings:
Risk of electric shock:
Do not open. To reduce t he r isk of electric shock, do not remove cover (or back). No use r-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing
to qualified service personnel.
Maximum and minimum ambient temperature:
The maximum ambient temperature for the LED wall is 40 °C, the minim um temperature is 0 °C.
High leakage current:
The combination of multiple tiles in an installation r esults in increased levels of leakage c urrent. In order to a void risk of electric
shock due to high leakage current, proper groundi
ng of the installation is required.
Flammable materials:

Keep flam mable m aterials away from the installation (such as curtains). A lot of energy is transferred into heat. The installation
should be such that the am ount of air flow required for safe operation of the equipm ent is n ot compromised. Proper ventilation must
be provided.
ESD and LED’s:
LED c ompon ents used in NX fixed displays ar e ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) sens itive. To prevent the possibility of destroying
LED components do not touch either in operation or while switched off.
Risk of electric shock / Risk of fire:
To protect against risk of fire caused by overloading of po wer cables, MAXIMUM 8 NX tiles (control boxes ) may be con nected in
parallel. Eac h power s ource cable supplying m aximum 8 NX tiles (control box es) should be protected by a circuit breaker or fuses
rated 16 A / 250 VAC (15 A / 2 50 VAC in the USA and Canada). Note that one NX fixed tile requires 200-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz,
1.4 amps at 230 VAC.
NX control box mounting restriction
Do not mount the NX control box upside down.
Disconnect device:
When the appliance inlets of the individual tiles are not accessible, the socket outlets s upplying the rack shall be installed ne ar the
equipment and be easily access ible, or a readily accessible gen eral dis connect device shall be incorporated in the fixed wiring.
This equipment MUST be earthed:
In order to protect ag ainst risk of electric shock, the installation should be p roperly grounded. Defeating the purp ose of the gr ounding
type plug will expose yo u to the risk of electric shock.
Power system:
It is recommended to use a T N-S power distribution system (a power distribution s ystem with a separate neutral and gr ounding
conductor) in or der to avoid large ground current loops due to vo ltage differences in the neutral conductor. The total electrical
installation should be protected by an appropriately rated disconnect switch, circuit breakers, over voltage protector and G round Fault
Current Interrupters. The installation shall be done according to the local electrical installation codes. In Europe special attention
should be given to EN 60364, the standard for electrical installation of buildings. In G ermany VDE 0100 should be adhered to. In
America, special attention should be given to the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
Mains cords:
The pow er cords de livered with this system have special properties for safety. They are no t user s erviceable. If the power cords a re
damaged, replace them only with new ones. Never try to repair a power cord.
LED’s soft lens:
The LED’s us ed on the NX modules are equipped with a soft lens. Never push with a hard or sharp object onto the soft lens of the
LED as this may cause damage to the LED. The maximum allowed load upon the soft lens of the LED is 300 gram/LED. B e careful
when installing a shader upon the NX module. Use your bar e fingers (not nails) to press the shader over the LED’s. Use your finger
nails to press upon the framework of the shader between the LED’s (not upon the LED’s) to push the s hader in its final position.
1.4 Proper usage
Proper usage of NX fixed tiles
• No part of the NX tile can come in contact with any type of moisture.
• No part of the NX tile can come in contact with any type of abrasive.
• No part of the NX tile can come in contact with any type of dust.
• No part of the NX tile can come in c ontact with any type
of corrosive substance.
• Using the LED product in an environment w ith high corrosive gasses (e.g. Sulphur) can lead to discoloration of the materials.
This discoloration gives a c hange in b rightness o f the product. T his could lead to uniformity differences and possibly also to
failures. Ea ch use of the product in this kind of env ironme nt nee ds to be checked up-front with the s upplier.
• NX tiles are to be used in environments meeting the operating specifications.
• NX tiles are not to be used in environments th at are subject to airborne contaminants s uch as that produced by smoke machines
(cracked oil) or similar (these depos it a thin layer of greasy residue upon the LEDs optics, degra ding performance).
• NX tiles are not to be exposed to extreme localized heat or cold exceeding the temperature specifications.
• NX tiles are not to be exposed to any element or situation that will caus e any part of the display to heat beyond what occurs
during normal operation. Such situations include but ar e not limited to lasers, ultrasonic vibration, o r any type of substance that
prevents proper ventilation and heat radiation of the NX tiles.
• NX tiles ar e not to be exposed to circumstances where m oisture can condense or collect on any components.
• Power c onnected to the NX tiles must meet the specifications outlined in the installation manual.
• Avoid any accidental bumping of the tile corners while installing or rem oving the NX tiles. Since LED’s of the NX tiles are
mounted near by the edges of the LE D boards, which is unavoidable in the design of a high res olution LE D-wall, the corners of
the NX tiles become sensitive for mechanica
l d amage. Because o f that it is required to handle the NX tiles with care at all times.

• Never place an N X tile or an NX module upo n a surface with the LED’s facing downwards. This to prevent damage to the LE D’s
and the soft lens of the LED ’s.
• While rem oving or installing an NX module alw ays keep the LED side of the NX modu le parallel with the LED side of the
remaining neighboring NX modules. This to avoid any mechanical stress upon the corners of the NX module.
• No force can be applied to the LED’s. Any LED’s damaged due to m echanical stress are not c overed by the warr anty.
• Safety and functional features of the display cannot be defeated.
• It is not allowed to climb or hang any additional equipment on the back o f an NX wall. Nothing is to be allowed to hang from
the cables of an NX fixed tile.
• Any failures must be immediately and appropriately dealt with (equipment r eturned to Barco?). Failing equipment cannot be
left to run in a wall.
• Only Barco cables specified to be us ed with the NX display are to be us ed to connect com ponents in an NX w all. Further, care
must be taken to connect signal only according to the installation manual.
• NX tiles are not to be used in the vicinity of any equipment that is not CE and UL/ETL c ertified.
• NX tiles a re not to be connected to any non-Barco equipment (the NX tiles are NOT HDMI compatible devices, despite the use
of HDMI-style connectors).
• When reconnecting components in an NX tile, care must be taken to ensure that cables are carefully routed according to the
installation manual to prevent damage to th e cables or other parts of the NX t ile.
• NX modules can only be removed by either gently pushing by hand from the bac k of the module, or by using the approved front
access tools and method described in the installation manual.
• NX tiles are not to be transported for any distance in containers other than Barco flight cases or Barco single unit pa ckaging.
Further, even the use of B arco flight cases o r pa ckaging m aterial does not gua rantee the NX tiles agains t damag e d
ue to
excessive force of impac ts. NX packing material can be ordered at Barco. All w arranty claims regarding damaged NX -Mod ules
due to incorrect packing w ill be rendered invalid.
• LED module s haders c an on ly be removed using the approved shader remov al tool and the method de scribed in the installation
manual.
• NX tiles can be cleane d only in accordance to the procedures defined in the installation manual.
•TheNXfixed display is an indoor product. Use the NX fixed tiles only in a dry area away from direct sunlight, dust and moisture.
Never install and use the NX fixed tiles in an outdoor environment.

About this chapter
This chapter enumerates the mec hanical requirements for the NX fixed display, t he electrical requ irements to power up the NX fixed
display and the system requ irements to run the control software efficiently.
WARNING: The NX display is an indoor product. Use the NX fixedtilesonlyinadryareaawayfromdirect
sunlight, dust and moisture. Never install and use the NX fixed tiles in an outdoor environment.

2.1 Mechanical requirements of a suspended installation
Weight
Do not underestimate the w eight of a com plete NX fixed display. Be s ure that th
e truss installation on w hich the NX fix ed display has
to be installed is capable of handling five (5) times the complete load of the display. N o te that one NX fixed tile weighs approximately
14 kg (or 72 kg pe r s quare meter display).
Truss beam
The truss beam has to be prov ided and installed by the customer because it varies from system to system. Although, the following
must be taken into account and must be precisely calculated on individual basis:
• Weight tolerances : Ensure that the truss beam and the c eiling agains t which the truss be am has to be installed, is able to
handle the complete w eight of the NX fixed LED display.
• Environmental conditions : H um idity, draught, temper
atures, etc.
• Location : Indoor, altitude, etc.
• Ceiling stability.
• Front clearances : For optimal impact ensure that there is sufficient free area in front of the NX fixed display and respect the
minimum viewing distance.
• Local regulations regarding such installations.
WARNING: A suspended installation is limited to a height of 50 NX fixed tiles.
Preparing a truss beam
For optimal use of the NX high precision frames and to obtain a high quality NX fixed LED display, the customer has to prepare a
truss bea m based on the hole pattern of the assembled NX high precision frames.

2. Installation requirements
WARNING: Note that the hole pattern of the high precision frames also has an overall tolerance of 0,1 mm,
which is extremely important. To install the NX display, the customer has to prepare a truss beam that has an
inferior or equal tolerance to the 0,1 mm tolerance of the hole pattern of the high precision frames.
The most efficient way to create an inferior tolerance is to provide a self arranging system. This is possible
by using a sliding system as illustrated below. The attachment point can slide to the left or right so a bigger
tolerance on the hole pattern of these attachment points is acceptable.
If the customer decides not to use a self arranging system, then overall tolerance of the hole patter
nofthe
attachment points should also be 0.1 mm.

WARNING: Barco suggests to use a level system as mentioned below to obtain a horizontal surface that
answers to the flatness tolerance of 0,1 mm. Use both bolts to horizontally align all NX high precision frames.
The illustration on the right shows this level system in combination with the previous mentioned sliding sys-
tem.

2.2 Mechanical requirements of a standing installation
Weight

WARNING: Note that the hole pattern of the high precision frames also has an overall tolerance of 0,1 mm,
which is extremely important. To install the NX display, the customer has to prepare a floor installation that
has an inferior or equal tolerance to the 0,1 mm tolerance of the hole pattern of the high precision frames.
The most efficient way to create an inferior tolerance is to provide a self arranging system. This is possible
by using a sliding system as illustrated below. In this system, the block have holes with inferior tolerances to
the 0,1 mm tolerance of the holes in the high precision frames.
If the customer decides not to use a self arranging system, then overall tolerance on the hole pattern in the
floor installation should also be 0.1 mm.

WARNING: Each NX fixed display, consisting of less then 5 x 5 NX fixed tiles needs to be secured at each
corner tile of the display where he doesn’t make contact with the truss beam or the floor installation.
WARNING: NX fixed displays, consisting of more then 5x5tilesne

zontal and vertical direction. They also need to be secured at each corner tile of the display where they don’t
make contact with the truss beam / floor installation or on every outside of each fifth horizontal row. See
examples given below.
WARNING: ANXfixed display is limited to a height of 50 NX fixed tiles and the display surface has to obtain
a flatness within a tolerance zone of 1 degree with a surface perpendicular to the reference surface (ceiling or
floor).
Barco suggests to use an adjustable system as illustrated below.

2.4 Electrical requirements for the NX fixed display
Power requirements
One NX control box requires 200-240 VAC, 50- 60 Hz, 1.4 amps at 230 VAC. Note that one N X tile correspond with a display s urface
of 0 .226 m². Each NX tile has a control box. Power split cables are used to link the power from NX control box to NX control box.
However, MAXIMUM 8 N X tiles (control boxes) may be connected in parallel. So, one power s ource cable ha s to be provided per 8

NX tiles (control boxes) . Every power source cable sh ould be protected by a circuit breaker or fuses rated 16 A / 250 VAC (15 A /
250 VA C in the US A and Ca nada).
Barco provides a range of power boxes, which meet the requirements of your NX display. Contact Barco for
more information about power boxes and power requirements for your NX display.
Power system:
It is recommended to use a T N-S power distribution system (a power distribution s ystem with a separate neutral and gr ounding
conductor) in or der to avoid large ground current loops due to voltage differences in the n eutral conduc
tor. The total electrical
installation should be protected by an appropriately rated disconnect switch, circuit breakers, over voltage protector and G round Fault
Current Interrupters. The installation shall be done according to the local electrical installation codes. In Europe special attention
should be given to HD 60364, the standard for electrical installation of buildings. In Germany VD
E 0100 should be adhered to. In
America, special attention should be given to the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
Disconnect device:
When the appliance inlets of the individual tiles are not accessible, the socket outlets s upplying the rack shall be installed ne ar the
equipment and be easily access ible, or a readily accessible gen eral dis connect device shall be incorporated in the fixed wiring.
This equipment MUST be earthed:
In order to protect ag ainst risk of electric shock, the installation should be p roperly grounded. Defeating the purp ose of the gr ounding
type plug will expose yo u to the risk of electric shock.
2.5 System requirements for the Control software
Before you begin
It is assumed you are familiar with the Windows operating system at your site.
The CD-ROM in your package c ontains a Windows-based installation program. You can install the software from the CD-ROM .
