Channel Vision NVR-4 is a 4-channel network video recorder that provides recording, management, and playback functions for Channel Vision Megapixel IP cameras. It supports H.264 compression, real-time display and playback, and up to four megapixel cameras. The NVR-4 also supports audio recording, backup, and 2-way audio streaming. It's equipped with a graphic user interface (GUI) and allows file copy from the browser. Additionally, it supports time-search and event-search from a browser, and up to four users online at once with full functionality.

Introduction

Thank you for purchasing Channel Vision's NVR-4 four channel NVR. Please take the time

to read over these instructions to ensure proper installation and usage.

Channel Vision's NVR-4 provides recording, management, and playback functions for

Channel Vision Megapixel IP cameras. This NVR can be controlled with either a browser

such as Internet Explorer and Chrome or through management software. The NVR-4 is the

perfect solution for any residential or commercial application that requires recording high

resolution IP cameras.

7 Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus

that produce heat.

8. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with

one wider than the other. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the

provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete

outlet.

9. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience

receptacles, and the point of exit from the apparatus.

10. Only use attachments/accessories specified by Channel Vision.

11. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.

12. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has

been damaged in any way, such as power supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been

spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the inside of the apparatus has been exposed to

rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

13. The lightning flash with an arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the

user to presence of uninsulated dangerous voltage within the product’s enclosure that may be of

sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.

14. The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence

of important operating and maintenance accompanying the appliance.

15. Inside of apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and objects filled with liquids.

CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electric shock,

do not remove the cover (or back). There are no

user-serviceable parts inside, refer servicing to

qualified service personnel.

NVR-4 4 Channel Network Video Recorder

The NVR-4 comes set to DHCP by default. This means that, just like your laptop computer or desktop PC, an IP

address is automatically assigned to the NVR by your router. This, combined with UpNp (Universal Plug and Play),

will make the IP setup of the NVR quick and easy to accomplish.

*For the best security, Channel Vision recommends you use a static IP setting and standard port forwarding.

1. Open IP installer. This is located on your software disk under the folder “\Applications\IP Installer”

2. An IP address should already be assigned

In the example below, the router has assigned 192.168.1.219 to the NVR

3. Double click on the name of the NVR. This will open the NVR in your default browser

5. The first time you connect to the camera via Internet Explorer, it will ask you to install the ActiveX control.

Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8, or 9 must be used to run this ActiveX control.

4. You will be prompted for a username and password.

The default username is ‘admin’

The default password is ‘admin’

Installing The ActiveX Control

1. Use the software, “IP Installer” to assign the IP address to your NVR-4. You can find "IP Installer" in the

supplied CD

2. Execute the program called IP Installer. This is located on your software disk under the folder

“\Applications\IP Installer”

3. If Windows prompts you to unblock IP Installer, you must select “unblock”

"IP Installer" will search all IP Cameras or NVRs connected to your LAN network.

The user can click “Search Device” to search again.

Option Two: Assigning an IP Address (Static IP)

4. Click the start icon on your computer.

5. Type the word “run” and select enter on your keyboard.

6. Type in ‘cmd’ and press enter on your keyboard, or press ok.

7. Type in ‘ipconfig /all’ into the DOS prompt that appears. Press enter.

8. Write down your computer’s IP address.

Do not use the same IP address as the computer in the NVR.

In the example below, the computer’s IP address is 192.168.1.74.

The IP address of the NVR must be different than the IP address in the computer.

Each network-able device in your network has an IP address assigned.

The IP chosen for your NVR is not the same address as any other device on your network.

Assigning an IP Address (Static IP)

9. Copy/write down the following information from the DOS prompt.

A. Default Gateway (Example 192.168.1.1)

B. DNS Server (if 2 servers, use the first one, for example 192.168.1.9)

C. Subnet Mask (Example 255.255.255.0)

with your mouse, and type in the info.

10. You will need to open IP installer (located on your software disk) under the following information:

A.) Default Gateway (Enter this number under “Gateway”)

B.) DNS Server (Enter this number under “DNS 1”)

C.) Subnet Mask (Enter this number under “Netmask”)

11. Giving the NVR a unique IP address.

Assign an IP address to the NVR by using the first three sets of numbers of your default gateway.

An IP address, has four sets of numbers, each followed by a period.

For example, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. The default gateway in our example is 192.168.1.1

The NVR address in this example will start with 192.168.1.xxx

Make sure you use a number different that your computer’s IP address.

(Generally between 2-250) This number needs to be out of the range of DHCP.

DHCP is assigned automatically in your router, and can be checked by logging into the router.

In this example, the computer IP address is 192.168.1.74, and 192.168.1.219 is used for the NVR.

You must choose a number for the NVR that is different from your computer’s IP.

If your IT technician has designated a static internal IP for your IP Camera, use that address.

To assign the port, choose a port between 9000-9999, and type it into “Port 1”.

If a specific port has been designated for your security system, that can also be used even if the number

is not within the range of 9000-9999.

*Disclaimer: This is an example based on a general network setup.

All networks do not match these settings exactly, as all networks are different

Connecting To The NVR (Static)

1. The first time you connect to the camera via Internet Explorer, it will ask you to install the ActiveX control.

Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8, or 9 must be used to run this ActiveX control.

1. Open Internet Explorer. Type the IP address of the NVR into the browser link window, followed by a “:” and the port

For example, http://192.168.1.219:8019

2. You will be prompted for a username and password.

The default username is ‘admin’

Installing The ActiveX Control

When popup the following dialogue box, click “Yes”.

If the installation of the ActiveX control fails, for example the browser page says “done” but you do not see

your camera, please check the security settings for your IE browser. Follow the instructions below.

How To Connect IP Cameras

1. Click the following icon to enter the setup menu of the NVR

2. Click “NVR Setting”

3. Under the “Camera” Menu, select camera number by clicking the right or left directional key

4. Click “SET” on “IPCAM SETUP”

5. Click “Enable” to enable the channel, then follow the instructions below.

6. Once complete, click “Connect” and then click “Save”.

How To Connect IP Cameras

UPNP Port Forwarding

In order to view the IP camera from outside of your home or business network, port forwarding configuration

will be required in your router.

Alternatively, you can use what is called UpNp, or Universal Plug and Play.

Follow the instructions below to configure the NVR for UpNp.

By default, the NVR-4 is set to port 80.

This can be changed if needed, but 80 (industry standard for default http server port) but is not required.

Channel Vision Technology will repair or replace any defect in material or

workmanship which occurs during normal use of this product with new or rebuilt

parts, free of charge in the USA, for one year from the date of original purchase. This

is a no hassle warranty with no mail in warranty card needed. This warranty does not

cover damages in shipment, failures caused by other products not supplied by

Channel Vision Technology, or failures due to accident, misuse, abuse, or alteration

of the equipment. This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser, and a

purchase receipt, invoice, or other proof of original purchase date will be required

before warranty repairs are provided.

Mail in service can be obtained during the warranty period by calling (800) 840-

0288 toll free. A Return Authorization number must be obtained in advance and can

be marked on the outside of the shipping carton.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may have other rights (which

vary from state to state). If a problem with this product develops during or after the

warranty period, please contact Channel Vision Technology, your dealer or any

factory-authorized service center.

Channel Vision products are not intended for use in medical, lifesaving, life

sustaining or critical environment applications. Channel Vision customers using or

selling Channel Vision products for use in such applications do so at their own risk

and agree to fully indemnify Channel Vision for any damages resulting from such

improper use or sale.
