How to operate
1. Wash removable pot, cover, spoon and measuring cup with water and dishwashing soap.
Let them dry.
2. For the non-stick removable pot, clean it using only a sponge or a soft cloth.
3. Once cleaned, use measuring cup to add rice into removable pot.
4. To achieve drier and fluffier rice, you must wash the uncooked rice by putting cold water
into the pot. Stir it a couple of times then drain the water.
5. Add same amount of water as the rice inside the removable pot. (Adjust the ratio of
water and rice according to your taste and type of rice.)
6. Make sure the outside of the removable pot and the surface of the heater is dry. Put the
pot inside the appliance gently to avoid spillage.
7. Place the cover on the removable pot.
8. Turn the pot sideways to make sure both the cover and pot are sitting flatly inside the
appliance.
9. Do not cover the vent hole during cooking.
10.Plug in the power cord to the wall socket and automatically the WARM indicator lights up,
an indication that the rice cooker is running.
11.Press the switch down to select COOK. Once it lights up, it means it is now cooking the
rice.
12.If rice is cooked already, the switch automatically goes up and selects WARM.
13.Keep it under WARM cycle for 15 minutes before serving the rice.
14.Use a pot holder on one hand to keep the appliance in place and use your other hand to
scoop up the cooked rice using a spoon.
2
15.Once you have finished taking out the cooked rice, place the cover again on the pot.
Leaving the cover on the pot keeps cooked rice from drying and discolouring.
16.After using the appliance, unplug the power cord from the wall socket.

Recipe
Rice Cooker Chicken Biriyani with Saffron Cream
Ingredients
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1 cup plain yogurt, preferably whole milk
1 1/2 teaspoons coriander powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon mild chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1 onion cut into chunks
1 2-inch chunk fresh ginger, peeled
3 garlic cloves, peeled
1 fresh green chili pepper such as jalapeño or
serrano, stemmed
3 tablespoons canola oil or ghee (clarified
butter)
1 1/2 cups basmati rice, rinsed
6 cloves
6 cardamom pods
1 cinnamon stick
3 cups chicken broth (use low-sodium if canned)
mixed with 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon salt
Pinch saffron threads mixed with 2 tablespoons
heavy cream
3 tablespoons chopped cilantro, more for
garnish
3 tablespoons chopped mint
1 lime
For optional garnishes:
Oil for frying
1 onion, thinly sliced
Big handful cashews
Big handful raisins
Servings: 4-6
Directions:
1. Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces - 6 to 8 pieces for each thigh.
2. Mix the yogurt and powdered spices in a bowl. Add chicken, mix well to coat and set
aside.
3. Put the puree onion, ginger, garlic and chili pepper together in the food processor. Set
aside.
4. In a rice cooker, pour oil into a cooking bowl and set the rice cooker to cook and let it
heat the oil. Once hot, add the onion paste and cook, uncovered until some liquid has
evaporated and paste begins to brown for about 15 minutes. Stir occasionally.
5. Add rice and whole spices and stir well. Smoothen the top and put the marinated
chicken pieced over the surface.
4
6. Pour gently the broth and salt. Cover and cook the rice until it is tender and chicken is
cooked thoroughly for about 25 minutes depending on the cooker.
7. . When rice cooker switches to warm function, add the saffron cream and mix. Ensure
to scrape and scoop up the bottom layer of rice. Sprinkle chopped cilantro and mint
on top and cover it again. Steam it for 5 minutes more.
8. . In making garnishes, heat 1 inch oil in a pot until it ripples. Then add onion and cook,
separating rings until golden brown. Lift it to and drain. Add cashews and raisins into
the same oil and let it cook until cashews are brown. Lift out and drain.
9. . Before serving, squeeze lime over biryani and mix very well, fluffing lightly. Scoop onto
serving platter and garnish with chopped cilantro and fried onions, cashews and
raisins.
