automatically the grass catcher.
Operation
11
Intended Use
Use the lawn mower only for its intended purpose, for cutting grass on lawns in
private areas.
Please observe the national regulations governing noise abatement.
The machine is not intended for continuous professional use in public areas,
parks, sport ground or farming and forestry spaces.
The lawn mower may not be operated during rain or on wet grass.
Filling the Lawn Mower with Engine Oil
The lawn mower will be delivered without oil and gasoline. Place the lawn
mower on a level ground when filling with oil and fuel.
1. Unscrew and remove the oil dipstick (14). Fill the oil tank for the first time
with approx. 500 ml SAE30 engine oil. Make sure not to overfill the engine.
2. Make sure the oil tank is securely tightened with the oil cap which also
serves as oil dipstick.
Filling the Tank with Fuel
Only fill unleaded regular or premium petrol in the tank. Unleaded petrol
produces fewer engine and spark plug deposits and extends the service life of
the exhaust system. Only use fresh and clean fuel. Never mix oil and petrol
together.
1. Open the tank cap (4) by turning counter clockwise. Remove the cap.
Carefully fill petrol into the tank from a suitable container. Make sure not to
overfill the fuel tank because fuel will expand when becoming warm.
2. Close the tank cap. If fuel is spilled, immediately wipe off and start the
engine at least 3 m away from the fuel point.
Only purchase as much fuel as needed for mowing. The fuel should be
used up within 30 days to assure fuel freshness.
Before Operation
Before each use, check the firm fit of all screws and nuts. Make also sure the
spark plug cable is properly inserted onto the spark plug (17).
Operation
12
Adjusting the Cutting Height
1. Adjust the mowing height with the adjusting handle (5). Lift up the chassis
for low cutting height and low down the chassis for high cutting height.
2. Pull the adjusting handle (5) slightly in direction to the wheel and engage
the pin on the handle to the desired opening. Preferably start with middle
height setting, as the middle setting is suitable for the most lawns. The
cutting height can be adjusted from 20 up to max. 75 mm.
Do not adjust the cutting height while the engine is running.
When mowing long grass, lift up the cutting height to the max. setting in
order to reduce pushing effort and engine overload. If the engine becomes
overloaded grass residue will be formed. In this case move the lawn
mower a second time over the already mowed path.
Starting the Engine
Before each operation make sure the machine contains sufficient engine oil
and fuel.
1. According to the ambient temperature press the primer several times in
order to pump fuel into the carburettor.

Operating the Lawn Mower
Make sure the area to be mowed is free from obstacles and foreign objects.
Never mow over obstacles, sticks, tree roots etc.
When starting the lawn mower always look at the ground and ahead of you in
a distance of approx. 1 m.
Do not start the lawn mower if the discharge opening is not covered by the
grass catcher, the deflector plate or the mulching kit.
1. Push the wheel drive lever (8) in direction to the handlebar (7) and hold
the three handles (safety lever, handlebar and wheel drive lever) firmly
with both hands. The lawn mower will start moving.
2. To stop the lawn mower, release the wheel drive lever (8).
3. For switching off the engine, release the safety lever (6). Please note that
the cutter bar will continue to rotate for some seconds after switching off
the engine.
The engine speed is adjusted by the factory and may not be changed. The
engine is adjusted that way to guarantee max. performance.
If the lawn mower is tilted more the 30° it might happen that oil supply will
be cut. This will switch off the engine. When operating the lawn mower
make sure not to tilt too much.
Cutting the Lawn without Grass Catcher
Make sure the spring of the deflector plate (11) is working properly and falls
down to close the opening when releasing it. This is important when operating
the lawn mower without grass catcher. Otherwise it can lead to severe injuries!
Cutting the Lawn with Grass Catcher
1. Hook the grass catcher on the housing.
2. Do not mow damp or wet grass as this will close the openings in the grass
catcher. If the pores become filled, less grass can be collected by the
grass catcher. The grass catcher is equipped with a fill level indicator (18).
The fill level indicator is pushed upwards the air flow whilst mowing. As
soon as the grass catcher is filled with grass clippings, the fill level
indicator will drop down. Then the grass catcher has to be emptied.
Operation
14
3. Empty the grass clippings only when the engine is switched off.
4. Clean the grass catcher regularly with a hand broom or with moderate
water jet and allow the grass catcher to dry thoroughly before using again.
Lawn Mowing with Side Insert
1. First remove the grass catcher from the
housing.
2. Lift up the cover flap (16) and hook the
side insert onto the housing. When
mowing the lawn, the grass clippings will
be thrown sidewise.
Hint: When mulching the lawn use the
side insert!
Using the Mulching Kit
When mulching the lawn, grass clippings will
not be collected but are left on the lawn. The
grass clippings will prevent the lawn from
drying out and will additionally supply it with
nutrients.
1. Adjust the chassis to the highest setting
when using the mulching kit.
2. Roughly press the holder of the mulching
kit in order to release the locking pin.
3. Insert the mulching kit into the lawn mower
opening, as shown in the picture. Make
sure the mulching kit engages in the
housing.
4. To remove the mulching kit, first depress
the holder in order to release the locking
pin. Lift up the mulching kit and take out of
the housing.

mower, e. g. for replacing the cutting bar,
we recommend draining the fuel tank in
order to avoid fuel spillage.
1. Tilt the lawn mower and remove the
screw and the washer.
2. Unscrew the screw by turning counter
clockwise. Hold the cutting bar with a
cloth or cut-proof gloves in order to
keep the spindle from turning.
3. Replace the cutting bar resp. have a
blunt resp. damaged cutting bar
sharpened by a professional only. Please note that a re-sharpened cutting
bar has to be rebalanced, especially when the cutting bar has been
abused by hitting a foreign object.
4. Re-tighten the screw by turning clockwise. Hold the cutting bar firmly in
order to keep the spindle from turning. Tightening torque is 45 Nm.
After Work
After work, switch off the engine, wait until the machine has come to a
complete standstill and pull the spark plug cable.
Transport resp. carry the lawn mower only if the engine is switched off.
Operation
16
For space saving storage fold down the
handlebar. Loosen the quick locking mecha-
nism (9) on both sides of the frame and fold
up resp. down the handlebar.
Cleaning the Lawn Mower without Water
Before cleaning the lawn mower, switch off
the engine and allow the machine to cool
down sufficiently.
Clean the machine after each use by using a
hand broom to remove stubborn grass
clippings and dirt.
Slightly tilt the lawn mower (ask for assistance
by a third person) and remove the stubborn
grass from the chassis.
Cleaning the Lawn Mower with Water
Before cleaning the lawn mower, switch off
the engine.
Use the provided water nozzle (12) to clean
cutting bar and the bottom side of the lawn
mower. Attach the quick coupling of the
water hose to the water nozzle and open
the tap a little bit.
Start the engine in order to clean the bottom
side. Attention! Make sure water cannot get
into the engine! This will lead to damages
(damage to the engine, ignition system,
carburettor etc.). Never clean the entire
lawn mower with water jet or a high pres-
sure cleaner.
Clean the rest of the housing with a damp
cloth or a hand broom with soft bristles.
