Instruction for use

Chain drive

KA 66-TW-UL

Performance features

- applicable for daily ventilation and for

smoke ventilation

- SHEV-high speed function (fast-running

feature in OPEN-direction)

- chain drives are equipped with micro-

processor controlled motor- and

synchroelectronics BSY + for a precise

synchronous run

- drive functions and features were

individually programmable (via software

SW-BSY +)

- integrated 2 staged clamping protective

reduced running speed, while closing

• active clamping protection with

emergency shutdown and reverse

function while closing, if drives tensile

Observe strictly maximum pressure load of the

toothed rack in order to ensure safe and

reliable performance of the chain drive!

Note: Maximum pressure load of the chain is

not automatically identical with maximum force

of pressure of the drive!

! IMPORTANT ! Safety Notes

1. Mounting of the drive should be carried out by a D+H distributor, whose qualification and

experience is ensured by regular in-house training.

2. All wiring must be installed by a qualified electrican according to National Electrical Codes, NFPA 70.

3. For indoor use only. Use always rain detector with danger of rain (e.g. at domelights or roof windows).

4. Observe enclosed red safety slip!

5. Danger of violent pressure in handaccessible area.

6. The window operators have been evaluated for Residential or Light Duty Commercial Use only.

7. A suitable field wiring means should be provided in the end use application.

8. The mounting and routing of external wiring should be determined in the end product.

9. The mounting of each unit shall be evaluated in the end use.

10. The suitability of the leads for field wiring should be determined in the end-use application.

11. Suitability of strain relief means in conjunction with the flexible cord shall be evaluated in the end-use,

if applicable.

12. The drive must be mounted a min of 8 feet above the floor or any access level.

13. The drives were not evaluated for entrapment protection since they are to be installed at

least 8 feet above the floor. Where entrapment is a consideration, the need for additional tests and

evaluation should be determined during the end product investigation.

14. The drive shall be connected to a Class 2 power supply.

For North America:

15. The Uniform Building Code Standard Vols. 1, 2 & 3 have to be observed.

Extent of supply

Drive unit(s) with 2.5 m / 97.5'' silicone cable

and mounting template. Dependent on the

type of window, different bracket sets are

available. Please order the bracket sets

separately!

You will get 2 years guarantee for all D+H

products from date of verified handing over of

the system up to maximal 3 years after date of

delivery, when mounting and starting has been

carried out by an authorized D+H-distributor.

D+H guarantee is expired, with connection of

D+H components with external systems or with

mixing of D+H products with parts of other

manufacturers.

Observe table for cable lengths and cross-sections (see instruction for control panel)!

- at vertical active pulling application (e.g. for a skylight) the forces must be rearranged by

software SW-BSY+

- mounting example: The drive should be mounted as mechanical stressfree as possible.

With that, more even load distribution is ensured on all the drives.

Trouble shooting

If the drive is without function desite of correct wiring, according to connection diagrams, and

correct power supply from a class 2 power supply is without function, please check following

Locking force (Soft Close Function)

2. Put covering stopper in again after adjustment.

at Closing Range I

1. Pull out covering stopper. Stick in screw driver

and turn it to the right in order to increase locking

pressure.

Null balance:

It should be null balanced.

If factory-set locking pressure of approx. 2x 150 N (33.7 lbf) is not sufficient, it can be infinitely increased up to

approx. 2x 250 N (56.2 lbf).

23mm, zero balance is neccesary. Closing range

will shift in relation to new zero point.

The drive has got a new zero point now!

Hold magnet once again against drive for checking of null balance.

Null balance has been successfully carried out,

if there is no low clicking to hear in the drive.

Connect Voltage:

Mot. a (white) = -

Mot. b (brown) = +

Drives run into CLOSE direction,

or just were in CLOSE position.

Wait

Attention! To avoid glas breakage or other damage, never null balance in

mounted state.

Hold magnet as long as

against the drive until

chain is retracted in drive and

there is a click to hear in the drive

Be careful with

opening when the drive!

Otherwise inner cables

can be torn off.
