Martec MLXS524MS, MLXS524WS Operating instructions

  • Hello! I've reviewed the Sentinel Installation Guide for the MLXS524WS and MLXS524MS Security Lights. This document provides important details on how to install the light, including mounting height, wiring, sensor settings, and other features such as the 210° detection range and adjustable motion sensitivity. I'm ready to answer any specific questions you have about these security lights.
  • What is the recommended mounting height for the security light?
What is the detection range of the motion sensor?
Is the security light suitable for outdoor use?
Does the light have a function to operate only at night?

We strongly recommend that you read this manual carefully before installation.
Installation MUST be carried out by a qualif ied and licensed electrician.
When selecting your installation area its import to be aware
of possible factors that could cause false triggering , such as
direct sunlight, window glare or refection, air condition units,
swimming pool water ref lection, direct street lighting or
large vegetation in the installation area.
Although the Sentinel Security Light is weatherproof
IP65 to prolong its lifespan it is sensible to install the
unit in an area that is not directly exposed to extreme
weather conditions.
Determine the mounting location - a solid is preferable.

Install the f ixture on a height between
2 meters-3 meters above ground
12 meters plus
To prolong the lifespan of the f
ixture it is advised to install
the unit in a selected area that is not directly exposed to
extreme weather conditions and only mount on a wall
under an eave or sof f it based on the recommended mounting height.
The Sentinel Security Light features 3 f ixed
independent motion sensor zones. Each sensor
zone is 70°degrees and the total sensor coverage
area is 210°degrees The detection distance per
zone is 12 meters
Install the motion sensor 2 meters-
3 meters above the ground. Motion
sensors are less sensitive when installed
below 2 meters or above 3 meters.

Step 2. Connect the Sennel Security Light cables to the terminal block
Ensure the seal between the base cover bracket and the Sennel Security Light is properly seated
and apply a sealant between the base cover bracket and the wall to guard against any water entry.
than one the Sentinel Security Light on a single switch.
Loosen the Sentinel Security Light mounting screws to remove the base cover bracket and seal.
Feed the wall power cable through the back base cover bracket and through the Fixture Backplate Seal (C)
before securely f ixing the wall plate and connecting the wires to the terminal block.
Connect the Brown wire (live wire) from the AC power cord to the
single Brown wire coming from the light f
ixture on the terminal

Press button SW4 and hold for 2 seconds - The LED will illuminate and rotate towards the direction of
detection. After 3 minutes of walk test the Sentinel Security Light will reset to Night Time operation only.
Should further walk test be required press SW4 again for 2 seconds.
On turning the power on the Sentinel Security Light will start a self-calibration program .During this process
you will notice a f
lashing green LED light rn the detector lens .
Once the green light becomes stable and the Sentinel Security Light is ready for normal operation.
The Sennel Security Light is designed to be "plug and play" most installaons will require lile or no
adjustment and can rely on the original default sengs :
Af ter the compleon of the installat ion switch the power back on

Press and release the SWI button to start sensitivity setting.
The LEDs 1-4 above the buttons will indicate the setting selected・
1 - High 12 meters. 2 - Medium 9 meters. 3 - Low 6 meters.
Press and hold the SWI button for 2 seconds to conf
irm and save the sensitivity choice.
Night time mode setting - The f ixture has a built-in photocell that will automatically enable the f ixture
functions at sunset and of f at dawn , therefore there is no need for a additional Lux setting function
Motorized function to rotate the LED head towards motion detection within 3 sensor zones
Sensor sensitivity set at high setting at a maximum distance of 12 meters
To prolong the original appearanee of the f
ixture regularly clean the Sentinel Security Light with a soft damp cloth.
Do not use paints, solvents, or other chemicals on this light f ixture. They could cause a premature deterioration of
the outer body of the f ixture and will not be covered by the warranty.
Important - Do not spray the Sentinel Security Light directly with a hose or power washer.
Remove the power to the Sentinel Security Light for
about 10 seconds then turn back on. The Sentinel
Security Light will then go through its calibration
warm up routine in preparation for normal operation.
The Sentinel Security
Light is set in Night
Mode.
R
1. Detection Method: Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR).
PIR measures infrared light radiating from a person or object in its f
ield of view.
2. Sensor Range: up to 12 meters across a horizontaI detection zone of 210°degrees
3. Power Source: 100 - 240V 50/60Hz
4. Lumens : 1700
5. Weatherproof rating - IP65
6. Importa nt - No addition al lights should be connected to the Sentinel Security Light
