Verifying the installation
1. Check that actual temperature values from all sensors connected to the ECA 86 module
are displayed.
2. Set the maximum temperature limit well below the actual temperature reading from
sensor S7. Verify that an alarm is generated within a period of 38 seconds (there is a
28 second delay before the new maximum temperature limit is eective, after this the
alarm is generated within 10 seconds).
If you are experiencing trouble, see the section “Error conditions” below.
When all is functioning properly, set the maximum temperature limit as required, and place
the ECL Card with the yellow side facing you, ready for normal operation.
Error conditions
This section provides support for locating and correcting error conditions that may arise
after the installation of the ECA 86 module.
Module not functioning
If the ECA 86 module is not properly installed or the module itself should prove faulty, no
temperature values will be displayed (display shows – – in line C, 1, 2 and 3 for circuit II).
The maximum temperature limit will be displayed because the default value is read from
the ECL Card.
To correct this error, you should check the connection of the system device bus to the
ECA 86 module (see page 5):
• Is one of the cables disconnected?
• Have the cables been switched?
Sensor error
A temperature sensor error may be caused by:
• A disconnected sensor. The corresponding display will show – –.
• A short-circuited sensor. The corresponding display will show – – –.
To locate the cause of the error, check the following:
• Are the cables of the sensor in question connected correctly?
• Do the cables show any sign of damage?
• Is the error caused by a malfunctioning Pt 1000 sensor? Try replacing the sensor to see
whether the error condition persists.
Note:
If sensor S7 is disconnected or short-circuited, an alarm is generated. It is possible to
disable the alarm by setting the maximum temperature limit to 110 °C.
