Installing the IR Emitter:
OPTION A:
If the set top box (STB) is located close to the unit, the IR emitter can be connected directly into the
RJ45-to-3.5mm as shown below:
OPTION B:
If the set top box (STB) is located farther away from the unit, such as inside an A/V closet, the
adapters can be combined with a length of customer-supplied CAT6 cable in order for the IR
emitter to reach the STB:

Mounting the IR Emitter:
Once the 3.5mm end of the IR cable has installed into the CAB using either Option A or Option B
(see page 15), the IR diode end of the IR emitter will need to be attached to the front of the STB
where the IR receiver is located. If you cannot locate the IR receiver on the STB, shining a ashlight
at the front of the STB can help in locating it.
In the examples above, you can see the IR emitter mounted to the STB over the STB’s IR receiver.
The two examples on the left show common locations of the IR receiver on two STBs.
Once the IR diode is in place, install the IR shield onto the front of the IR diode (Fig. 17). This will en-
sure that the signal sent to the STB will only change the settings on the STB that the IR diode has
been applied to.
