Caution: We highly recommend that you have an authorized QMS service technician install your QMS 4060 as well

as the optional large-capacity input feeder and the 3000-sheet large-capacity output stacker. However, if you do

install these options yourself (or if you ever move the printer and these options), you must make certain that the

option aligns correctly with the printer.

This document provides quick installation information for both the large-capacity input feeder and the 3000-sheet large-capacity output

stacker. For complete information, refer to chapter 6, “Hardware Options,” in the

Options

manual (on the 4060 Documentation

CD-ROM).



Unpack all items

from the box.

Save the packing

material for

possible

repacking.

Locate the

support stand,

the support stand

guide, and the

sheet guide.

Open the front

door of the

printer.

Using a Phillips

screwdriver,

remove the right

side paper input

cover by

loosening the

front screw and

removing the rear

screw.

Attach the sheet

guide to the

printer using the

screws you

loosened and

removed earlier.

Install the

support stand

guide using the

screws attached.

Lift the support

stand and place it

on top of the

support stand

guide.

Attach the

support stand to

the support stand

guide.

Pull out the

support stand

slide-rails until

they lock in the

out position.

Set the LCIF on

the pins of the

slide-rail.

Secure the LCIF

to the support

stand using the

thumbscrews.

Slide the LCIF

into the sheet

guide on the

printer until it

locks in place.



Caution

Adjust the

leveling feet

on the

support

stand so that

the leveling

chains are

just touching

the floor.

Make sure the

power on the

printer is turned

off.

Press the release

handle on the top

of the LCIF, and

pull it away from

the printer.

Connect the

interface cable to

the connector on

the rear lower-left

side of the

printer.

Slide the LCIF

into the sheet

guide on the

printer until it

locks in place.





The 3000-sheet Large-Capacity Output Stacker weighs over 66 pounds (30 kg). Do not attempt to lift or move it by yourself.

Unpack the

LCOS.

Remove the

packing tape and

plastic from the

LCOS.

Open the LCOS

door and remove

the tape on the

paper guides

inside the LCOS.

After unpacking,

check for the

LCOS hardware

contents shown

here.

Make sure all

items are

included. If any

items are missing

or damaged,

contact the

shipping

company or your

QMS vendor.

The screws and

bolts shown here

are needed to

install the LCOS.

These are

included with the

LCOS

accessories.

You also need a

#2 Phillips

screwdriver and

a medium

flat-blade

screwdriver.

Attach the

stopper to the

lower rear of the

LCOS using the

two screws

(M4 x 6).

Slip the hooks on

the back of the

tray over the tray

base, and attach

the tray, using the

six screws (M4 x

12) and washers.

»Note:

The tray

has six pre-

drilled holes

for the screws.

Locate the left

paper guide, and

slide it through

the left slot of the

paper tray.

»Note:

The

paper guides

are labeled T,L

for top-left and

T,R for top-

right. The

shorter arm

must be on

top, and the

flange must

point inward.

Locate the paper

size markers and

the alignment

hole that

corresponds to

the desired paper

size.

»Note:

Set the

paper guides

as far apart as

possible (A3/

A4 setting).

Using the paper

size markers as a

guide, attach the

paper guide to

the LCOS with

the knurled

screws

Repeat steps 6-7

for the right

paper guide.



After assembling

the LCOS,

prepare the QMS

4060 printer for

attachment of the

LCOS.

Remove the

paper output

cover from the

printer by

removing two

screws.

Remove the left

and right screws

in the upper

cover.













Insert spacer

bolts B and A into

the holes in the

upper cover

where you just

removed the

screws.

»Note:

The

bolts are

labeled. Make

sure you use

the correct

bolt.

Snap the paper

guide into place.

Remove the two

screws in the

lower cover.

Insert the two

spacer bolts (C)

into the lower

cover holes

where you just

removed the

screws.

»Note:

The

bolts are

labeled. Make

sure you use

the correct

bolt.

Use a small flat-

bladed

screwdriver to

pop out the two

small panels from

the bottom cover.

Use the two

captive screws to

install the stopper

guide where the

square panels

were located.

Use the four

captive screws

on the joining

frame to attach

the joining frame

to the spacer

bolts.

Roll the two units

together.

Lift the LCOS a

little to make sure

that the connect-

ing pin on the

stopper guide is

aligned with the

stopper hole on

the LCOS, and

then push the

LCOS against

the printer.

Plug the interface

cable from the

LCOS into the

connector on the

back of the

printer near the

bottom.

Plug one end of

the power cable

into the LCOS

and the other end

of the cable into a

grounded outlet.
