1. KIT DESCRIPTION
Object ive
The dust filter box is developed to protect the X-cube assembly from external dust. By doing that, it increases the picture quality as
well as the lifetime of the main optical components i.e. analyzers, polarizers and LCD panels.
The goal is to decrease the number of service and maintenance sessions, that wayreducing significantly the total cost ofownership.
The box is connected to the air inlet of the X-Cube provided beneath the X-Cube, this is done by the use of an air tube. An adapter
plate is used to connect the air tube to the projector.
Note that the filter blocs dirt and dust particles up to 5 µm. It does however not block smoke.
The filter box is intended for following projectors :
•BarcoiQ
•BarcoiD
BarcoReality Sim5
1.1 Kit content
Overview
The assembly consists of 1 box containing a fan and a fine air filter, an adapter plate for the projector and an air tube connecting the
box and the projector together.

E Wire unit
The fan is controlled by the +17V supply of
the projector. A wire unit brings the supply voltage to the filter box.
The Fan will only run when the projecto
r is in operational mode (not in standby mode).

The fil ter must be replaced whenever needed
The input plate : Important remark
In the iQ the side plate of the input box needs to be replaced by an adapted plate (hole present to mount electronic filter module on
it). This isnot
the case if theprojector has been ordered with the active dust filter option (the adapted plate is then already mounted).
In the iD/SIM5 projector the adaptedplate will alwaysbe present exceptfor some earlyprojectors that weredelivered with theformer
plates.
The different input plate situations can be summarized as follow :

Mounting the filter box
1. Mount the filter box in the best suited area. Depending on the installation it may be in a housing with its air inlet oriented towards
the outside of the housing, or in an open area.
CAUTION: The mou nt ing of t he filter box must be done in t he same way as for th e projector itself i.e. by taking
the necessary precautions towa rds environmental conditions, refer to the projector safety man ual R5975258.
CAUTION: Insure that the filter is cleaned (replaced when necessary) on a regular basis.
Connecting the filter box to the projector
1. Connect the air tube to the adapter plate on the projector and to the filter box

Maintenance requirements
Cleaning and or replacing the filter will insure the best results in dust filtering and thus the longest lifetime for the consumables.
The average replacement interval for the filter is 6000 hours. Visual inspection is however always recommended, always replace
dirty filters !
The access to the filter requires one simple frame removal.
